It breaks my heart that, yknow... the songs are all about the kind of people the kids dreamed of being. And at first, Mischa's song is about having a big extravagant life, where he's rich and famous and gets to go anywhere and do anything he wants - compared to his real life, born to a poor, dying mother who sent him away in hopes of him living a better life only for him to get locked in the basement and treated like a dog. So he sings about having the biggest, craziest, wealthiest, coolest life he can imagine. But then, his song changes, and all that flash and extravagance and money goes away, as he realizes that all he wants, all he ever wanted, is love.

I just wanna say that I love how this song contrasts with This Song is Awesome and also shows that Misha isn’t a wannabe bad boy but a softie deep down. I know that in shows that often happens with the rough and tough character but they don’t do it right. They make that character secretly feminine but in Ride the Cyclone, they don’t make Misha sing about liking girly things. He just sings about Talia and how much he wants to be with her and marry her. From my understanding she was real and I believe??? that in the version I watched he met her in Ukraine??? All I remember is that in the version I watched she was very much real, however because she lived in Ukraine she never knew Mischa had died, since all the articles and newspaper clippings were in English and she's, y'know, Ukrainian. And Mischa is shown during the play to speak Ukrainian more naturally, and speak more butchered English. Plus she wouldn't have a reason to check the papers. So she ended up thinking that Mischa had just ghosted her. Also in the show I watched she was his fianceè instead of his girlfriend, so I just. assumed that he lived in Ukraine for a good portion of his life or had visited Ukraine once, met Talia, proposed, and then continued communication over the internet.
Imagine any other form of entertainment that could allow for a Ukrainian love ballad, a spacey rock opera about making love to cat aliens, the dream of wanting to be a Parisian, a SoundCloud rap song and tying it all together with an animatronic fortune teller leading the singers of said songs to sing about their lives and dreams in an attempt to return to life.

I know most people believe the theory that Noel is Talia and is catfishing Mischa, but I just CAN’T, Mischa’s love for Talia is so beautiful and you can tell based off this song how much he loved her, in my HEART I believe Talia is real, which makes it heartbreaking because that means Talia must’ve thought Mischa ghosted her but he didn’t :( I know the latter makes it sadder but am a sucker for sad love stories especially Mischa’s and Talia, he loved her so much.

Real talk: why Mischa/Noel have a need to rationalize Talia out of the picture altogether via elaborate theories that she was never real or catfishing him when a simple headcanon of "Mischa makes peace with the fact that he will never reunite with Talia so he moves on from her and gets together with Noel in the afterlife" would do? Why ruin the beautiful themes of the show pretending that what her and Mischa had was never real? Also, Noel telling Mischa not to learn the fate of their relationship had nothing to do with jealousy, Noel is a romantic and didn't want the beautiful ideal Mischa had of her to be destroyed. If it was about jealousy he would let Mischa know that it probably wouldn't last so Mischa would let go of her and he could have Mischa for himself. Man, this song has had an absolute chokehold on me. Just the way its so romantic and tragic at the same time. Mischa is my absolute favorite out of the Choir. In my opinion he has one of the most saddening backstories in the whole Choir. I get that Jane / Penny didn't have anyone to remember her or let alone know who she was. That's horrible and "The Ballad of Jane Doe" is chilling and amazing, the fact that she sang while upside down?! I could never. The saddest part is that he says he basically wants to take all her sadness from her and turn it into joy and he's gonna be the cause of it IF she ever finds out. The thing that really gets me about this song is that throughout the whole musical up until now, Mischas love for Talia was comical. She was his online girlfriend who the other members (definitely more ocean than the others) didn’t take seriously. The typical online catfish joke. But, at this moment, Mischa expressed true genuine love to his online girlfriend, and Talia becomes more than just a potential catfish, but the girl Mischa truely adored with his heart. Someone he loved every part of, someone who he wanted to move back to Ukraine to marry and live the rest of his life with, someone he sang a love song about to represent his entire life when he’s at the borderline between death and life. It completely shocked me. Especially after life is awesome lol

The first time I saw RTC I was convinced that Jane doe would turn out to be Talia who came to Canada to surprise him and wasn't supposed to be in the choir, I thought all the remarks about how nobody knew her and how they didn't believe she was actually part of the choir at all were hinting at her past! Either way loved the musical!
Remember - Karnak can't predict the future, only the fates of those he reads the fortunes of. When Karnak offers Mischa the chance to see what "could have been", I believe it is suggested Mischa would have died anyway had he gone to see Talia via some other cause, perhaps uranium exposure, not that Talia was a catfish or that she doesn't exist.

Real talk: why Mischa/Noel have a need to rationalize Talia out of the picture altogether via elaborate theories that she was never real or catfishing him when a simple headcanon of "Mischa makes peace with the fact that he will never reunite with Talia so he moves on from her and gets together with Noel in the afterlife" would do? Why ruin the beautiful themes of the show pretending that what her and Mischa had was never real? Also, Noel telling Mischa not to learn the fate of their relationship had nothing to do with jealousy, Noel is a romantic and didn't want the beautiful ideal Mischa had of her to be destroyed. If it was about jealousy he would let Mischa know that it probably wouldn't last so Mischa would let go of her and he could have Mischa for himself. You can ship Noel/Mischa without erasing Talia and her importance.
Talia is literally that "annoying female character" who "gets in the way of the gay ship" to them and I have no idea why people don't realise that.

Man, this song has had an absolute chokehold on me. Just the way its so romantic and tragic at the same time. Mischa is my absolute favorite out of the Choir. In my opinion he has one of the most saddening backstories in the whole Choir. I get that Jane / Penny didn't have anyone to remember her or let alone know who she was. That's horrible and "The Ballad of Jane Doe" is chilling and amazing, the fact that she sang while upside down?! I could never. Anyways, while Jane has that sad backstory I still stand by the fact that Mischa's was the most heart-wrenching. He got taken away from his mom(The only family member he had!!) when he was barely growing into an adult. I have a theory that Tamara (His mom) wasn't dead yet when Mischa died. And she read the Uranium City Newspaper to see that her son passed away before she did. Back to Talia. He was so in love and loyal to her. He was probably saving up to see her for months and he finally had enough money to see her, but he died right before they got to finally meet. I am physically addicted to this song because it's so beautiful. Both the Official Album and the musical are amazing. Anyways sorry for the rant lol I'm just a big nerd about Ride the Cyclone

The thing that really gets me about this song is that throughout the whole musical up until now, Mischas love for Talia was comical. She was his online girlfriend who the other members (definitely more ocean than the others) didn’t take seriously. The typical online catfish joke. But, at this moment, Mischa expressed true genuine love to his online girlfriend, and Talia becomes more than just a potential catfish, but the girl Mischa truely adored with his heart. Someone he loved every part of, someone who he wanted to move back to Ukraine to marry and live the rest of his life with, someone he sang a love song about to represent his entire life when he’s at the borderline between death and life. It completely shocked me. Especially after life is awesome lol
