Sounds a lot like an Audi R18, which makes sense. Same cylinder count, diesel, turbo'd..... And like, I've seen crazy diesel cars before. Even a hillclimb truck. But an xDrive system on top of all that? Again, I _deeply_ admire the lunacy of the South African tuning scene.
A smoky diesel is a poorly tuned diesel. All the people that like their diesel trucks smoking like a chimney are just throwing their money away on fuel.
@joe125ful it isn't noticeable, the twin hybrid setup is safer and pushes a lot more power than the standard 550d triple turbo setup. I'm pushing 450hp/1000nm. Which is an 80hp and 260nm boost without sacrificing reliability.
The weight killing everything.. Should be max 1100kg like E92 M3 GTR (racecar), not almost 1600kg, but all new bmw weight like that (M2 CS 1620, M4 GT3 1290 kg)
Turbos do nothing on their own.. An engine is basically an air pump, the more air and faster it receives that air, the more horsepower and torque it puts out. Turbochargers force more air into the combustion chamber so you get a fixed amount of air and velocity regardless of altitude, higher altitudes do trim a turbo back ever so slightly though.
Thats cool, never seen such a high hp diesel bmw track focussed car
Not bmw but you got a GTR with a diesel swap for Hill Climb, its quick also🤣

You not see much..

If it gets a spot on the channel, it has something special to it ;)
I have only ever seen diesels for drag racing. Never for hillclimb/circuit. Very cool. Those 3 turbochargers make the car sound like a jet
Now you have, you´re welcome ;)
@HillClimbMonsters with all that torque and the climb being quite fast and 'sweeping", is there even any need to change gear? 😆
I was thinking the same thing, it sounds like a jet plane. What a weapon of a car.

Amazing how clean the exhaust is for a diesel! And incredibly fast too!
If a diesel is rolling coal, it's incredibly inefficiently tuned. Anything trying to make clean power won't roll coal aside from a bit off the launch.
sauber mit schwarzem rauch
Yeah, most of those guys "roll coal" on purpose by setting it up that way. It's incredibly stupid and lame.
A German tune won't roll-coal, only an American would be that foolish 😅
you only roll coal when your ratio is to rich. if you have enough oxygen/air to your fuel, they burn surprisingly clean
You know its crazy when the turbo spinning up is louder than the engine.
No:)
I havent really seen many track focused diesel powered cars, cool build
Me too but there is reason why disel for racing is not very popular..
@@joe125ful yea, not like audi dominated le mans with a diesel or anything like that.

I fell in love with a BMW Diesel?! What's this world coming to?

4.8k rpm shifts, I love it hahaha
I'm surprised he stuck with the triple turbo setup, I switched to twin hybrid turbo setup(turbo's from the 535d) in my M550d.
Why not power is more smooth with 3 turbos throw rpm range same fro gasoline cars i rather want have twin/biturbo instead of single one.

@joe125ful in a daily driving setting and with the Kms I do I still prefer it this way

Impressive diesel 👍💪✌

Nice and different. Well setup
Bruh this is next level diesel shit….sick 😤🔥🔥
Love diesel power !
Looks coool in body wise, love it
What a monster 😮
Heavy, low revving and doesn't particularly sound good aside from the turbos. Yet... unique and somewhat fascinating at the same time.

Only the mind of little boys could dream up triple turbo diesel 🤣
Sounds like a jet💪😀
Kudos on the engine and doing something different. Lost me at the automatic transmission though
Fantastic car 👍

3 turbos, never heard of it b4 😮
BMW had a diesiel with 4 turbos in the 7-series. But it didn't last very long.

must be a compound turbo setup
Easily confused with a Judd V8. So similar in sound.

Gearbox? It can't be stock. He left it in Drive and wen't with it.
It think ZF8HP can be built to withstand that much torque.
Sounds good, but not better Mercedes OM606 engine, its look heavy in the corners.
Springs are too soft. It coulda went even quicker if it weren't scraping and bottoming out.. nonetheless that car ia scary lol
