Well, it’s not like there aren’t things that could be changed. Even the Switches design was improve-able. People had issues with the JoyCons for example and I’m not sure if making them bigger solves the issue entirely.

I don’t really care if it’s different or not it’s gonna be better and it will be fun. I mostly just like to have fun not how it’s different and mostly if I have problem with leaks I just don’t look at them
I personally loved the look of the Switch, so if the successor ends up looking more or less like it, I won't be too bothered. Though, I do see the concern as Nintendo will want to avoid a repeat of the WiiU's lackluster life cycle. In the end, it is all about the games, so that's where I think Nintendo's focus will want to be to ensure that doesn't happen.
There are two things to consider, relating to what this video touches upon. 1- The people that have been waiting for the console for the past 2 years are mostly the more hardcore fans, not the majority. I have many friends that play switch often, and they don't get even a whiff of news about potential reveals or release dates, so they aren't all build up with anticipation (this should also be a callout to the youtubers that report 10 times on the same rumor, I'm not putting nin10doland in this list btw). 2- People that comment about them being dissapointed by the design could just be a vocal minority, and they are also part of the fan group that actually follows these leaks. People that are happy with the design don't feel the need to go complain about it in X or some internet forum. Funnily enough, these same people complaining are probably gonna buy it.
They will talk about it when it’s ready. If it were to release before hand, people would be complaining “why are they showing it off before it’s ready?”. Just like PS5 and XBS, people kept asking(still asking) - where are the new games? Why wasn’t this delayed until they were ready? Just let them cook
We've reached a point where all consoles will face the same scrutiny. Hardware innovation and improvements in graphical fidelity have plateaued. What else can really be done? If you're expecting something radical, you're not going to get it from anyone.
Nintendo needs to SWITCH it up and do something new, and I'm not referring to like the "New" 3ds/2ds. If it has backwards capabilities with the switch, then heck yeah bonus points, but if it's literally just Switch 2 then I don't really want it and I'll stick with my current switch.
I think Nintendo is going to perfect and refine the Switch with Switch 2, better/stronger connecting/ more secure joycons. Better UI and OS, more features than the first switch. Bigger screen. Stronger performance. And of course, the games. Nintendo isnt trying to make a next evolution console here. This is going to be a wii U situation just hopefully appeals to the masses better this time. But honestly didnt really think Wii U had a bad launch. Nintendo Land was such a great launch title as well as Mario Bros U. We dont need 3D Mario and Mario Kart in the same year. Hype and excitement is important to build so even if the Switch 2 has like a couple of casual games to launch with, the holiday game will likely be 3D Mario and that works. 3D Mario doesnt need to be a lauch title neither does mario kart. This will be a stepping off point for Nintendo to phase out Switch 1 like the Wii was phased out. Nintendo doesnt plan on supporting Switch 1 passed 2027 likely so eventually every switch 1 owner will upgrade in time. Just like people upgraded from Wii to Wii U. This launch could definitely be smaller than Switch 1 in terms of hype and impact, but i think thats normal because this isnt a new Nintendo console entirely, its the next Nintendo Switch console.
“ all leaks are fake unless proven otherwise” that’s the mindset I’ve adopted. People will say and post anything for a little bit of clout. The fact that Nintendo doesn’t seem be too concerned with these supposed leaks kinda hurts their credibility for me.
I don't think people mind. Especially with cases to customize the handheld appearance. So many play docked anyway. Plus, it's Nintendo. There's no telling what surprises there will be. In fact, they may have intentionally led us to believe this is it when it's not. 😅

I feel like this is a non-issue. If Playstation 1-5 aren't bad names, then Nintendo Switch 2 won't be a bad name. Not only that, but anyone would surely be able to make the connection that something labeled '2' will be better than the original one. Either way, I have faith that Nintendo will do a great job with the Switch 2's presentation when the time comes.

These are renders and not official so definitely wouldn't say that we know exactly what it's going to look like but they will look similar with what's out already.
I think it's the other way around, that the hardcore fans want some new and wacky design and features. Casual gamers tend to focus more on graphics and if they can play Call of Duty on the system. I couldn't care less. I used to think that it was exciting and fun, but I realized that third parties usually make very little use of new features, and that Nintendo tends to do the same after the first two years. At the end of the day, the "next new thing" became a gimmick. Just focus on game enhancing features and not attempt to revolutionize the way we play games with every single console. I think the Switch was a step forward, and FORTUNATELY, since they got rid of typical handheld gaming and made a hybrid, they've limited themselves with how wacky they can make the consoles

There is no way it would be a good idea to announce a new console in the latter half of the year, it would just muddle up their Switch holiday sales. Q1 announcement for a late Q2 release is better, gives it a chance to get on people's holiday list after they sold through as many old switches as they could. Probably not the best look to design it so similarly to the original switch, but then again that is a winner design, it's functional, and there isn't much on the surface level that would make sense to change besides the color and some small details. What they really need is to come out swinging with lots of new games, I'm talking the heavy hitters. The next major 3D Mario, Mario Kart 9, Donkey Kong, Splatoon or something like it, maybe Animal Crossing, make Metroid Prime 5 a cross-generational release. Get Elden Ring and Baulder's Gate running on that thing. Say "Here is the stuff that we made from the ground up just for this console. Here is the stuff that everyone loves that we couldn't run on the first Switch, to show you why we made this new one".
Hoping for the force feedback joysticks 🤙🏻 maybe even the scrolling shoulder buttons, plus automatic lag free upscaling with the dock for all past games, DLSS optional on-system for third parties to hit stable performance
Honestly, I’m not too worried about the Switch 2 looking a lot like original Switch. All I want is a better, more powerful Switch. I don’t want another Wii U. What I’m more worried about is the console possibly not being powerful enough. I don’t expect Nintendo to release something that’s on the same power level as Xbox Series X, but if it’s not as powerful as the Xbox Series S at minimum, then Nintendo would’ve lost a lot of support from third-party conversions as well as customers like me.
Tbh, the only stuff that I'm worried for is the games that were announced. Like with the new Elden Ring game it didn't show that it would be on the switch 2, but then again we got Team Sonic Racing Crossworlds to be on the Nintendo Switch, but usually sonic games almost always come on the Nintendo Hardwares anyways. But the fact that these games that have high graphics like Elden Ring weren't announced on the switch 2 is concerning, I still have hope though because it might be that the switch 2 hasn't been announced yet and FromSoftware doesn't even know the aspects of the successor yet.
I can already see the Nintendo Switch 2 failing. The 3DS sold less than half as many units as the DS. And the Wii U sold about 1/10th of the units that the Wii sold. I thought Nintendo learned that making a console look the same as the last isn't a good idea...
I find it funny how people are now complaining about no reveal but the Switch was literally announced 2 years in advance with a really disappointing last Wii U/3DS year. We’re not in a bad situation if we look at the output this year. And no reveal means more time for Nintendo which leads to a better experience for us. Game development gets harder and harder unfortunately.
Yes, I’m definitely curious as well but I still have plenty of titles to play honestly. It’s not that big of a deal. And after all we’re just one MAYBE two months away from the reveal. Right after we’ll be flooded by information I’m sure.
So what exactly do you want? It's reached the point with all technology that there isn't much more improvement that can be done. At some point and we have reached that, you aren't going to get many reinventions of the wheel. That's like apple is down to bragging about new features on the iphone like new ways to use wallpaper. Lol. So we are going to have to adjust our expectations.
I know that I'm excited for Switch 2 with its games like 3D Mario, Mario Kart X, the sequel to Kirby and the Forgotten Land, that fake leaked 2D Kirby game Kirby and the Celestial Stars, Luigi's Mansion 4, Splatoon 4, Super Mario Maker 3, a new Donkey Kong, a new Star Fox, a new Punch-Out, and etc. But I think they should reveal it in January in the beginning of 2025 like in two weeks they should reveal because February is the Nintendo Direct so I think it would be best to do it on January. But again since Kirby Planet Robobot is coming to Switch next year in 2025 I'm not gonna buy it unless they add Kirby Triple Deluxe with Kirby Planet Robobot and make it a two-pack Collection so then we would have all the Modern Kirby Games in one console like that would make me happy if they did that.
I’m getting impatient. Skipping September was really for no reason and confusing. Why are taking so when they announced it pretty early? Besides that a more powerful switch is what everyone wants so I don’t care that looks it similar give me ps4 level power with games that look as good as Ghost of Tsushima and I’ll be pleased.

If you had shown people a picture of a PS4 back in 2011, nobody would’ve cared. It was the games that brought over 100M people to that platform. I know Nintendo has a history of creating hype through innovative console design, but it doesn’t HAVE to be that way. They’ll be just fine.

Comparing Switch 2 as a name to Wii U is ridiculous. Switch 2 tells you exactly what it is, Wii U was confusing when there were a lot of Wii branded things.

I think the Switch 2 should have had coloured buttons still people could easily tell the difference between the Switch 1 and 2, a 5 year old would probably not tell the difference. Other than that I am happy with the design of the Switch 2.
switch 2 shouldn't be switch 2, it should have been something radically different. thats what got them out of the slump from gamecube to wii, and wii u to switch. Take the game boy to DS transition. the DS was a radical new direction for nintendo handhelds away from the gameboy family, it pushed the boundries for ninendo in the palm of our hands, they did wonders AND kept it backwards compatible with GBA games. given the tiny size of the cartridges, along with most people buying their games through software, backwards compatibility was going to be super easy with the switch's successor, so focus on what will get the biggest pop, focus on reasons why people should buy this new console. do something radical. Now is not the time for nintendo to play things safe, now is the time they cement themselves as THE number 1 videogame company, and they will only be able to do that by being ambitious, taking risks, going all-in, pulling no punches, putting all their eggs in the successor's basket. Under specific circumstances, the switch's successor could be the first the first console to sell not just north of 200 million units but I also believe could kiss 300 million. It's nintendo's hand and they need to play it very soon.
I don't care about the extra features or anything, all I want is quality hardware, good frames, no lag, good quality, because ooo man Lag is my greatest enemy I hate it with a passion.
I don’t care if it doesn’t look much different as long as Nintendo just releases a console that is not underpowered. It is way overdue. I would be much more upset to find out that they are releasing another underpowered piece of crap like the original switch. That would defeat the purpose of releasing a new console. The Wii U has better graphics than the Xbox 360 and PS3, but it is less powerful than both of them in other ways.
Personally, I'm expecting new games or anything showcasing the supposed "4K" display rivaling the likes of the PS5 or the Xbox Series models. This will be my first time owning a Switch since I had a Wii and a 2DS, so I'm really hoping Nintendo is upping their game and will release this revolutionary console to the world. I'm also anticipating new games such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A-as I'm a huge Pokémon fan-and possibly Mario Kart 9 or Smash Bros. 6, if there's any news about them. Plus, in the future, I've decided I want to work for Nintendo as a software developer. I've already finished the first half of my college year with a supposedly 4.0 in computer science, so I'm eagerly waiting for that moment. Anyway, I understand it might look similar to the original Switch, but for me, it's about the new features and anything else we might eventually see. That's what I'm hoping for. Well, we'll just have to wait and find out!

A better, newer switch is exactly what I wanted, but now that we’ve waited this long, it’s gonna be really disappointing for them to surprise us with literally nothing we don’t already know. I was thinking months ago, before we had any reliable peeks at the thing, that this new console better be something groundbreaking and massively innovative like the wii or something if they’re leaving us to build hype for this long. Does Twitter’s world wide 611 million users (including alts and bots) really represent the public?
There are two things to consider, relating to what this video touches upon.
1- The people that have been waiting for the console for the past 2 years are mostly the more hardcore fans, not the majority. I have many friends that play switch often, and they don't get even a whiff of news about potential reveals or release dates, so they aren't all build up with anticipation (this should also be a callout to the youtubers that report 10 times on the same rumor, I'm not putting nin10doland in this list btw).
2- People that comment about them being dissapointed by the design could just be a vocal minority, and they are also part of the fan group that actually follows these leaks. People that are happy with the design don't feel the need to go complain about it in X or some internet forum. Funnily enough, these same people complaining are probably gonna buy it.
They will talk about it when it’s ready. If it were to release before hand, people would be complaining “why are they showing it off before it’s ready?”. Just like PS5 and XBS, people kept asking(still asking) - where are the new games? Why wasn’t this delayed until they were ready?

We've reached a point where all consoles will face the same scrutiny. Hardware innovation and improvements in graphical fidelity have plateaued. What else can really be done? If you're expecting something radical, you're not going to get it from anyone.
If only Switch 2 was the problem. Now Mario is in extreme danger of disappearing, and fans don't seem to care about it...

Nintendo needs to SWITCH it up and do something new, and I'm not referring to like the "New" 3ds/2ds. If it has backwards capabilities with the switch, then heck yeah bonus points, but if it's literally just Switch 2 then I don't really want it and I'll stick with my current switch.

I think Nintendo is going to perfect and refine the Switch with Switch 2, better/stronger connecting/ more secure joycons. Better UI and OS, more features than the first switch. Bigger screen. Stronger performance. And of course, the games. Nintendo isnt trying to make a next evolution console here. This is going to be a wii U situation just hopefully appeals to the masses better this time. But honestly didnt really think Wii U had a bad launch. Nintendo Land was such a great launch title as well as Mario Bros U. We dont need 3D Mario and Mario Kart in the same year. Hype and excitement is important to build so even if the Switch 2 has like a couple of casual games to launch with, the holiday game will likely be 3D Mario and that works. 3D Mario doesnt need to be a lauch title neither does mario kart.
This will be a stepping off point for Nintendo to phase out Switch 1 like the Wii was phased out. Nintendo doesnt plan on supporting Switch 1 passed 2027 likely so eventually every switch 1 owner will upgrade in time. Just like people upgraded from Wii to Wii U. This launch could definitely be smaller than Switch 1 in terms of hype and impact, but i think thats normal because this isnt a new Nintendo console entirely, its the next Nintendo Switch console.
“ all leaks are fake unless proven otherwise” that’s the mindset I’ve adopted. People will say and post anything for a little bit of clout. The fact that Nintendo doesn’t seem be too concerned with these supposed leaks kinda hurts their credibility for me.

I feel like this is a non-issue. If Playstation 1-5 aren't bad names, then Nintendo Switch 2 won't be a bad name. Not only that, but anyone would surely be able to make the connection that something labeled '2' will be better than the original one. Either way, I have faith that Nintendo will do a great job with the Switch 2's presentation when the time comes.

@@JAHistheONEBesides, there is a common theory that the extra usb c port will be for crazier peripherals; I think there is a strong chance we will have gimmicks, but they will not be the core console.
These are renders and not official so definitely wouldn't say that we know exactly what it's going to look like but they will look similar with what's out already.
I think it's the other way around, that the hardcore fans want some new and wacky design and features. Casual gamers tend to focus more on graphics and if they can play Call of Duty on the system.
I couldn't care less. I used to think that it was exciting and fun, but I realized that third parties usually make very little use of new features, and that Nintendo tends to do the same after the first two years. At the end of the day, the "next new thing" became a gimmick. Just focus on game enhancing features and not attempt to revolutionize the way we play games with every single console. I think the Switch was a step forward, and FORTUNATELY, since they got rid of typical handheld gaming and made a hybrid, they've limited themselves with how wacky they can make the consoles

There is no way it would be a good idea to announce a new console in the latter half of the year, it would just muddle up their Switch holiday sales. Q1 announcement for a late Q2 release is better, gives it a chance to get on people's holiday list after they sold through as many old switches as they could. Probably not the best look to design it so similarly to the original switch, but then again that is a winner design, it's functional, and there isn't much on the surface level that would make sense to change besides the color and some small details. What they really need is to come out swinging with lots of new games, I'm talking the heavy hitters. The next major 3D Mario, Mario Kart 9, Donkey Kong, Splatoon or something like it, maybe Animal Crossing, make Metroid Prime 5 a cross-generational release. Get Elden Ring and Baulder's Gate running on that thing. Say "Here is the stuff that we made from the ground up just for this console. Here is the stuff that everyone loves that we couldn't run on the first Switch, to show you why we made this new one".
Hoping for the force feedback joysticks 🤙🏻 maybe even the scrolling shoulder buttons, plus automatic lag free upscaling with the dock for all past games, DLSS optional on-system for third parties to hit stable performance
Honestly, I’m not too worried about the Switch 2 looking a lot like original Switch. All I want is a better, more powerful Switch. I don’t want another Wii U. What I’m more worried about is the console possibly not being powerful enough. I don’t expect Nintendo to release something that’s on the same power level as Xbox Series X, but if it’s not as powerful as the Xbox Series S at minimum, then Nintendo would’ve lost a lot of support from third-party conversions as well as customers like me.
Tbh, the only stuff that I'm worried for is the games that were announced. Like with the new Elden Ring game it didn't show that it would be on the switch 2, but then again we got Team Sonic Racing Crossworlds to be on the Nintendo Switch, but usually sonic games almost always come on the Nintendo Hardwares anyways. But the fact that these games that have high graphics like Elden Ring weren't announced on the switch 2 is concerning, I still have hope though because it might be that the switch 2 hasn't been announced yet and FromSoftware doesn't even know the aspects of the successor yet.

I can already see the Nintendo Switch 2 failing. The 3DS sold less than half as many units as the DS. And the Wii U sold about 1/10th of the units that the Wii sold. I thought Nintendo learned that making a console look the same as the last isn't a good idea...

I find it funny how people are now complaining about no reveal but the Switch was literally announced 2 years in advance with a really disappointing last Wii U/3DS year. We’re not in a bad situation if we look at the output this year. And no reveal means more time for Nintendo which leads to a better experience for us. Game development gets harder and harder unfortunately.
Yes, I’m definitely curious as well but I still have plenty of titles to play honestly. It’s not that big of a deal. And after all we’re just one MAYBE two months away from the reveal. Right after we’ll be flooded by information I’m sure.

So what exactly do you want? It's reached the point with all technology that there isn't much more improvement that can be done. At some point and we have reached that, you aren't going to get many reinventions of the wheel. That's like apple is down to bragging about new features on the iphone like new ways to use wallpaper. I know that I'm excited for Switch 2 with its games like 3D Mario, Mario Kart X, the sequel to Kirby and the Forgotten Land, that fake leaked 2D Kirby game Kirby and the Celestial Stars, Luigi's Mansion 4, Splatoon 4, Super Mario Maker 3, a new Donkey Kong, a new Star Fox, a new Punch-Out, and etc. But I think they should reveal it in January in the beginning of 2025 like in two weeks they should reveal because February is the Nintendo Direct so I think it would be best to do it on January. But again since Kirby Planet Robobot is coming to Switch next year in 2025 I'm not gonna buy it unless they add Kirby Triple Deluxe with Kirby Planet Robobot and make it a two-pack Collection so then we would have all the Modern Kirby Games in one console like that would make me happy if they did that.
I’m getting impatient. Skipping September was really for no reason and confusing. Why are taking so when they announced it pretty early? Besides that a more powerful switch is what everyone wants so I don’t care that looks it similar give me ps4 level power with games that look as good as Ghost of Tsushima and I’ll be pleased.

If you had shown people a picture of a PS4 back in 2011, nobody would’ve cared. It was the games that brought over 100M people to that platform. I know Nintendo has a history of creating hype through innovative console design, but it doesn’t HAVE to be that way. They’ll be just fine.

The only thing I wish is that it will be powerful enough to have full 3th party support. Many multi-platform titles skip the current switch because it just can not handle them…
I think the Switch 2 should have had coloured buttons still people could easily tell the difference between the Switch 1 and 2, a 5 year old would probably not tell the difference. Other than that I am happy with the design of the Switch 2.

switch 2 shouldn't be switch 2, it should have been something radically different. thats what got them out of the slump from gamecube to wii, and wii u to switch. Take the game boy to DS transition. the DS was a radical new direction for nintendo handhelds away from the gameboy family, it pushed the boundries for ninendo in the palm of our hands, they did wonders AND kept it backwards compatible with GBA games. given the tiny size of the cartridges, along with most people buying their games through software, backwards compatibility was going to be super easy with the switch's successor, so focus on what will get the biggest pop, focus on reasons why people should buy this new console. do something radical. Now is not the time for nintendo to play things safe, now is the time they cement themselves as THE number 1 videogame company, and they will only be able to do that by being ambitious, taking risks, going all-in, pulling no punches, putting all their eggs in the successor's basket. Under specific circumstances, the switch's successor could be the first the first console to sell not just north of 200 million units but I also believe could kiss 300 million. It's nintendo's hand and they need to play it very soon.

I don’t care if it doesn’t look much different as long as Nintendo just releases a console that is not underpowered. It is way overdue. I would be much more upset to find out that they are releasing another underpowered piece of crap like the original switch. That would defeat the purpose of releasing a new console. The Wii U has better graphics than the Xbox 360 and PS3, but it is less powerful than both of them in other ways.
Personally, I'm expecting new games or anything showcasing the supposed "4K" display rivaling the likes of the PS5 or the Xbox Series models. This will be my first time owning a Switch since I had a Wii and a 2DS, so I'm really hoping Nintendo is upping their game and will release this revolutionary console to the world. I'm also anticipating new games such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A-as I'm a huge Pokémon fan-and possibly Mario Kart 9 or Smash Bros. 6, if there's any news about them. Plus, in the future, I've decided I want to work for Nintendo as a software developer. I've already finished the first half of my college year with a supposedly 4.0 in computer science, so I'm eagerly waiting for that moment. Anyway, I understand it might look similar to the original Switch, but for me, it's about the new features and anything else we might eventually see. That's what I'm hoping for. Well, we'll just have to wait and find out!

A better, newer switch is exactly what I wanted, but now that we’ve waited this long, it’s gonna be really disappointing for them to surprise us with literally nothing we don’t already know. I was thinking months ago, before we had any reliable peeks at the thing, that this new console better be something groundbreaking and massively innovative like the wii or something if they’re leaving us to build hype for this long. If there’s truly nothing new besides a few updated specs, 2024 will have felt like a total waste of nintendo-time :/
