    Someone's already mentioned but Harlow jumping up and put her weight on you is Deep Pressure Therapy! It's a way to decrease anxiety and such. She likely sensed your panic/anxiety/feelings and went "must help!" I know things have been hard lately but I hope you feel a little better soon. I'm thinking of you!!!

    Harlow is such a good dog and is so in tune to you. She knew you weren't feeling good and you were upset and she came right to you so you weren't alone. She's just amazing and she loves you so much. You couldn't ask for a better companion.

    I contracted MRSA after a serious scald on my leg. Ended up in a specialist burns hospital for 3 weeks on numerous IV antibiotics, and had to have 3 surgeries including skin grafts. Thankfully I eventually recovered but I've been told now that I carry it so have to be really careful with even minor scratches and cuts, thankfully haven't had a recurrence of it in last 4 years.
    Hopefully the antibiotics you're being given will get rid of it and it won't become any worse.

    OMG, girl!! You are entitled to be overwhelmed! I was thrown by one of my horses ten years ago this coming January. Landed 5-6 feet in front of her on my left hip. Was trying to save my back, neck, and two artificial knees. Couldn't move my left leg or put weight on it. ER x-rays didn't show anything but an MRI two months later showed two pelvic fractures and a lower back fracture. Doc said I should have been on total bed rest for 12 weeks. I had been driving an hour to work, nine hours at a desk, hour drive home, helping to mend fences, put in stalls and automatic waterers, unload 110 lb bales of hay, and feed the horses. All while on crutches. I now deal with hip, groin, pelvic, and back pain as well as spasms and my left leg goes numb. Has recently felt like my thigh is on fire, too. I'm on four morphines, three gabapentins, three tramadols, and two OTC Naproxyns every day. They just take the edge off. I am having a neurostimulator implanted on the 20th. It'll be a week long trial and, if it works, I'll have the permanent one implanted in a few weeks. Then I can hopefully reduce my medications!!
    I was diagnosed with breast cancer October last year. Was caught early with 3D imaging and removed in surgery. They said it was small and a regular mammogram would not have seen it for years. Thankfully it hadn't spread to my lymph nodes but no telling how far it could have spread in a few years! Had 32 radiation treatments and would fall asleep sitting up. I still do. Figured it could still be partly due to my treatments but also my meds. I even doze off a few times typing comments! It's been crazy. Don't know how you do this all the time!
    I walk with a cane and have lost my balance. I fell backwards earlier tonight and hoped I was going to make it to the bed before I went down. I caught the edge and one of our five big dogs was laying there. As I was trying not to go down I told her to move a few times. I did land on part of her and so glad I didn't hurt her. Our Doberman/Irish Wolfhound mix loves to lean against me or lay across my lap when I'm on the bed watching TV. He's definitely is not a lap dog either. So watching Harlow get up on the couch and in your lap was priceless. I thought maybe she was reacting to you saying you were overwhelmed, letting out a big breath, and rubbing your face. The connection you two have is wonderful. I hope the antibiotics take care of the MRSA. That's all you need!!
    Take care of yourself and have a great Thanksgiving. Will have to try that recipe. Looked good!

    I understand it's overwhelming, but I do think you're lucky that the MRSA has stayed in your toe - I've heard that a way it gets serious is if it enters the body via a port or feeding tube stoma. Obviously that won't be an issue now that you're taking precautions, but it's a good thing that it didn't infect your port or tube before you realised.

    • @user-ee7kb6sf5g
      @user-ee7kb6sf5g 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Jenna Bukowski she has a suppressed immune system, feeding tube issues and chronic pain. Staying out of hospitals is not an option, skipping appointments could be detrimental and skipping antibiotics would only make matters worse. She needs to do what works for her and what her doctors think is best. I don't see MD at the end of your name 🤔

    • @ginamarie6462
      @ginamarie6462 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jenna Bukowski She can’t stop her medical care to avoid hospitals though. That would just make matters worse for her overall health.

    Years ago I found out I had MRSA while in the ICU. Later I was told I probably had it long before they tested for it because I spent so much time in the hospital. I've had many doctors tell me that doctors, nurses and other hospital staff never test themselves for it because they all know there's a very good chance they are also positive. I'm from Canada and have only ever heard one other person pronounce it the way you did. It's usually called each letter here. If you practically live in the hospital you should be surprised if you DON'T have it!

    Poblecita Mija, MRSA ain't nuttin to play with, and I'll almost bet you caught it from being in the E.R. and in-patient in the hospital so much. It runs rampant in most hospitals (I used to be a paramedic so I know what I'm talking about). Anyhow, I know you'll do what your docs have told you to do as far as treatment and aseptic techniques, etc. I've watched you for almost a year now and I'm proud of you and especially how professional you are when doing dressing changes, port changes, etc...Kudos, bigtime! And you are definitely allowed to have mini freakouts, which is what I call mine. God knows it's impossible to be strong ALL the time, especially when SHTF, so to speak. I am an old granny and so we have a saying, "When it rains, it pours" but I go one further and add, "so get on your rain boots and hang onto something sturdy cuz it's about to get real interesting", lol. With all you've been through in these years, this stuff is just a bend in the road. The blessings here are many though, you are well schooled in how to deal with this stuff and are granted the strength with which to do that when you need to (when nobody else is there with you, except beloved and amazing Harlow), and you have a wonderful and patient husband who adores you, and really great mamasita del linda e papi chulo (j/k no disrespect intended, they're the best!) and lastly you have the most amazing and attentive dog that you trained and God gifted to you. All in all, I'd say, YOU GOT THIS! Rock on, girl, you're doing fine. And we appreciate seeing someone else who's dealing with a bunch of junk, like we all are. :) Smile, people will wonder what you're up to, lol

    Hang in there Jaquie! I just got bumped to 5x a week infusions which means keeping my port accessed for multiple days, something I've never done. Last night was my first night sleeping with my port accessed and it went okay! I have to give some credit to my new Gripper Micro needles because they are amazing! They just leave a catheter behind in your port, no needles!
    I also am having a hard morning as I slept through one of my classes, woke up to use the restroom, fainted, and wound up soiling myself. I'm feeling very fragile, but being able to watch you persevere makes me feel like I can do it too!

      Lauren Coombes Very good to know! Even our doctors pronounce it "Mersa"! If we said "M>R>S>A", they would look at us funny. I guess we like to turn everyrhing into slang?!

    • @DandyBeingTandi
      @DandyBeingTandi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Hannah Fox, since this video, we took an "informal poll" at our hospital, and about 40% of the doctors said "Mersa", and more patients than medical professionals also tend to use it. So I am assuming it originated from patient slang?

    I'm so sorry to hear that you have MRSA. I have been in the hospital for over six years because of injuries received in a house fire. Because of two autoimmune disorders diagnosed before the fire and the fire doing damage to my immune system, I am now colonized with MRSA. Every 6-8 weeks, I have to spend 2-3 weeks in Infectious Disease Isolation. You are very fortunate that the infection seems to have stayed in your toe. The infection goes systemically so quickly. Any opening in your skin, especially your Central Line port and your stoma are an easy entry site, even with the scrupulous care you take to keep them clean. Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can continue with your exciting progress.

    I have MRSA aswell right now. This is my 3rd go around with it. But you can get through this! Super cute when Harlow got in you're lap. Our animals know when we aren't at our best. My dog does the same thing he's just not that big lol. Sending you lots of prayers

    Hope the antibiotics do the trick! Love love love Harlow! I have a cat who can predict my low blood sugar, she must somehow know my shaking means that. She is my constant companion. She is 11 and from kitten hood on she senses me not feeling well. She insists on laying on my chest when I need to calm down. Wish she could open the fridge to get my o j! My hubby is often working many hours and away, she is a joy-to keep me company.feel better ASAP! Di

    I hope the MRSA clears up with the antibiotics. My allergic reactions always flare up when I am fighting an infection, so hopefully they will fade out again soon. Everyone has days where things get too them, but letting your emotions flow is the best way to allow you to then keep going! X

    I have MRSA too! I Got my first infection when I was 15 and have been getting them every couple of months ever since.
    Sometimes I have flare and will get them back to back or multiple at a time.
    It's such a painful and frustrating thing to deal with.
    I suggest washing with hibicleanse (or any other medical grade anti-septic skin cleaner) daily. That has helped me reduce the amount of infections I get from being unable to fight off staphylococcus.

    So sorry you’re getting hit by everything at once. The way Harlow was so in tune with how you were feeling emotionally was touching to witness. Does she do that often? I know for me when I’m not feeling well, as soon as my dog cuddles me, all my stress vanishes. I guess it’s the physical contact. Things will improve soon. I’m sure of it. Take care

    I've commented here before but I just wanted to say I know how you feel. I have a rip in my back down to my spine. I've had dozens of surgeries and it never heals properly and rips open or never closes. It's become 5 years now. I don't even physically sit anymore just stand and lay and it still messes up. I had a huge huge surgery and it was supposed to be the last one. But yesterday it ripped open again.... I've lost all my life to this. I couldn't go to high school and I can't go to college and I can't work. I'm stuck inside my house and hospitals. Can't even go outside to get fresh air because there are steps I can't do. Life is so unfair. But oh well. We will be strong and move on.

    Yippi!! Almost the goal rate!! I'm soooo proud of u. I can't wait till u go on day feeds. I'm sure u will have a lot of relief from day feeds by not hearing that beeping sounds.
    Hippo is soooo adorable. She knows that u were frustrated so she came on the couch and put all her weight on u. Sooo cute.
    So only Judd is the one without MRSA now. Lol.

    Harlow is instinctively doing Deep Pressure Therapy. Lots of service dogs do it for things like PTSD, anxiety, to stop self harming behaviour, seizures or syncope.

    I'm sorry about the MRSA, I have cerebral palsy, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and many other conditions. When I had staph years ago nothing prescribed worked so I treated myself with CBD oil and all traces of the infection cleared shortly after that. As for the cutie Harlow, I've seen other dogs do that before. If they sense true discomfort, sometimes they'll disobey the usual rules to help their human. She's saying "Yeah it breaks a rule, but I love you and I want you to feel better!"

    Mrsa can be easily picked up at hospitals. I believe when i had my nissen fundoplication surgery in '07 for acid reflux, when i was readmitted to the same hospital 1.5 days after discharge for a post op illeus. The nurse came in with something on 2 wooden q-tips and shoved them up ea nostril. It was very uncomfortable & burned. She said it was to prevent mrsa. I got the q-tip treatment because i had 2 hospital admissions so close together. I hope you get some relief. I had an ingrown shard of my toenail removed almost a year and a half ago. I have had sudden sharp like an electric shock feeling hit my toe. I didn't get the chemical that is supposed to prevent the nail from growing. I think you can still develop an ingrown toenail eventually even if they apply that stuff to stop ingrown nails

    I don't use Benadryl since it makes me very drowsy, but to the point where I feel sick, not tired. So I take Ibuprofen usually, but I have to take a higher dose to get any relief. And since my knee pain is coming back (I had surgery for Plica Syndrome in Feb) I don't want to overuse the Ibuprofen, since it barely helps anyways. So yea, it's frustrating, but we'll keep moving forward

    MRSA actually lives on our skin in usually a healthy, balanced manor. Every single person would test positive for it, and usually it's not in an active stage. I got MRSA after a biopsy was done on my back and yeah it was a couple weeks of antibiotics and my hubby having to help me with it, but it did clear up. Just hang in there. You'll make it through this.

    So I would just like you to know that you have helped me immensely! I have a lot of issues. Immunoglobulin deficiency (I get ivig for that and I'm going on a year of it and my levels are still low), IBS, pelvic pain, daily pain from my kidneys (I had kidney failure in 2012 and the pain never went away), chronic joint pain, bad asthma, and something else wrong with my lungs and heart (I'm on oxygen almost constantly and I have a very fast heart rate that gets worse as my oxygen goes down. Add in depression, a panic disorder and ptsd and I'm generally a wreck. I feel very guilty about the fact that my family and boyfriend have to change their lives to fit around me. I just came to terms with that fact that I do battle chronic illnesses and it's not my fault. The only reason I came to terms with that is because of you. So I would just like to say thank you. It has taken a lot of pressure and guilt off me. So thank you Jaquie for sharing your story. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
