When stock cars looked like the actual street car’s beautiful 🤩
Yes'sir!
Gotta love the street and hobby stock divisions at your local tracks. Hands down the best classes in the country !!
So much power, and nowhere to gallup! That car was screaming to be opened up! Awesome sound!
I thought the same thing, she was begging to be let loose
She was cruising around looking for a race track.
"All this horsepower, and nowhere to gallup!" -Bruce
Love the sound of those older race cars.. especially the ones wit #43 on it!
No one in NASCAR will ever win 200 races ever again. There will always be just 1 King Richard Petty.
That tall shifter just makes me think of the old Rat Fink Ed Roth artwork.
Memories of the old days.
I'm like you, but I prefer mine to be a Black Chevy with 3 on it. 😉
LIKE GISSS LOL
That’s just a mildly built small block Chevy. Nowhere near the level race engine that would’ve been in there originally.
Right I forget you're the expert. Because that's what the King would of had in one of his race cars.
Awesome era of NASCAR. That Aerocoupe back window was a serious game changer for the Monte Carlo SS'. Never could figure out why the Pontiac's didn't see similar success.
That's the last place on Earth I'd expect to see a speed bump.
I'd much rather watch and listen to these cars even while at a standstill than today's cars actually racing.
I'm glad to see other people using those classic Craftsman "Iconic" ratchets......I still use mine all the time....And I pick up more here and there....USA made of course....If they're good enough for "The King", they're sure as Hell good enough for me.
To see Master Craftsman at work is amazing....beautiful historic car
Dale Inman said the cars were always built around Richard Petty' 😊
Now THAT brings back some great memories.
Damn right!!😊👍
This is awesome love it.. Thanks fer posting.. Nothing beats old school Nascar
They might not have been good racecars but as a Pontiac fan I love the grand prix 2+2
How amazing it must have felt to drive that beast that went so many miles in so little time!!!! Amazing machine!!! All I can do is watch videos of him racing it but I’ll bet it was magic to see him runnin!!!!!!
I wish Petty would go back to this paint scheme.
My first race was in March 1987 at Darlington...so this car is one of my favorites. The King finished 3rd that day...maybe would have won if not for the rain.
THE KING IS WRIGHT BROTHER
I was at Darlington on throwback weekend for this years goodyear 400. It was my first race and I had so much fun I bought tickets for the upcoming cookout southern 500 as soon as I got home.
Sounds great it would be awesome to hear it in person. One day hopefully might get to hear one thanks.
Ahh yes miss those days where the cars looked nicer and actually still looked more like the actual cars.
Amen brother! Amen!
Love these historical films. Thank you. History is only that if its preserved.
Rick Petty and the heartbreakers
That iconic color scheme!! The one and only petty color scheme!
The sound when that thing fired up was outstanding. I was imagining myself driving. Thank you.
I remember all too well as a kid back in the 1970s don't really remember the racetrack but Dad took me to a race with them just the look in the style of Richard Petty and it caught my attention my dad was always a Richard Petty fan since the 1960s
I regularly watch Goodwood gonna be paying even more attention this year that car is a piece of art
🎉🎉🎉🎉 HAPPY 84TH BIRTHDAY, "KING" RICHARD PETTY 🎉🎉🎉
God Bless
Love the stp paint so recognizable
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I like Petty is a legend 😊
I was hoping he would take it on down randleman rd there for a second.
Me too! At least for a little ways down Branson Mill Rd. There ain't a cop in Randolph County that would bat an eye at seeing that car going down the road 😁
Can you imagine setting up a car for Mr Petty?
The King
I worked for Dave Hammond who built engines for both him and then Kyle. Amazing place to be in randleman. The roads show you why these guys wanted to race so bad
Awesome dude wooooo love the sound of that beast
Goosebumps....... Love the sound. Nascar muscle
What a cool piece of Nascar history, Sounds and looks wonderful.
I wish they would put the gun slinger Mike Skinner behind the wheel for Goodwood. His runs in a nascar truck was always awesome to watch.
What a beauty. That body style is just amazing.
This was the car I grew up with love this car
How could you not love being around that garage:)
???? Definitely Cool
These guys are highly respected and trusted
Im surprised Petty Garage doesn't have their own little race track in the backyard to let these unwind from time to time...
Sounds great!! 😎
at 7:05 reaching for the shifter where it really should be in a conventional car. Awesome!
Funny seeing everyday drivers sitting amongst all that history.
How is that Holly not leaking all over the place? I leave one over the winter in my boat and they always end up leaking.
That’s cool I don’t care who you are that sounds like a beast! Love the video and him taking a few rips I would have too!!
One of my all time favorite Pontiac bodies
Boys this is back when it was all about the racing…
EPA is going to love you guys!
That is awesome!!!!!!
Great background music, very of its time
Great vid ! It would be nice if you could get Richard to do his own steering wheel wrap in black tape like he used to. After they went to removable steering wheels, sometimes i watched Richard setting on the pit wall, carefully wrapping his steering wheel in between practices or whenever, contented as can be.
Ready for a rip around N. Wilkesboro!
The King
I was waiting for him to dump the clutch, you can hear the eagerness of the engine
LOVE IT!!!!
I've met Richard and he is a awesome man. So cool to see one of his cars.
Pony-yak! Hope the King will be going to drive again over at Goodwood!
The 2 + 2 was competitive. That car came close to winning at North Wilkesboro and Darlington.
I watched the car race at Riverside way back in 1988 when Rusty Wallace won the race. I was always a Richard Petty fan and I wanted this car so much it hurts to see it now.
Wow that car needs to be let loose. I went the the Petty museum in 2006 and saw this car and many of his others. It's an awesome place you really have to see it.
The legendary King 🤴
Music video!!! Thank you!
Beautiful Pony-ac!
COOL CAR!!!!!!!FRIDAY NITE RIDE 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
I realize that the races were mostly ovals back in the day but there's just something so right about a road course alignment on these cars.
I love the sight and sounds of Richards old 43! Who’s going to drive this car at Goodwood?
There is a British telephone box on the site 😎 Love the sound of that engine.
Great place to visit as an RP fan!
You might even bump into Dale Inman or the King himself!
When a car has power- it's pulsating
I really like the plates they use for toe in. Probably check camber also.
Very cool and great sounding and looking car for the king question is the carb the still full power Holley or the reduced 390 cfm in late 87 seasons after Bobby's crash in the Winston 500
What’s the history behind that chassis?
Carb tuning has become a lost art-form...
Miss the days of...throttle pump...throttle pump...slide choke out just a bit...hit the ignition...(c'mon baby)...do it! 👍
Old and simple. The best way.
I,like You channel,greetings from San José CA (408) .
That car sound sweet
Number 43 Stp Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 Fastback Aero Coupe From 1986 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Thanks For Uploading
I'd do this all day every day for free
Perfection
What camera do use film with, quality is stunning!
My dream job!
This generation was the end of Stock Car Racing , and Richard was The King , my favorite driver . I miss Stock Car Racing . I think 1987 was the last year I watched .
2001 for me
Absolutely gorgeous. ❤
Thought you were going to take it down Branson Mill Road like the old days 😂
I’m ready for this on iracing , I know it got scanned !! I’ll trade in the Buick for it
Did each variant of the GM 350 cubic inch engine (Chevrolet,Buick,Pontiac, Oldsmobile) use an actual block and heads from each division or did they all use the Chevrolet block and heads?
Love dem' slots!
How many wins did Petty have in 1987. After all these years, it's good to see that the car is still struggling.
Just out cruising around in the King's car.
Now that's cool!! Mechanics adjusting carburetors instead of punching buttons on a lap top... Nascar we want carburetors!!! How in the heck can you drive that thing with Richards steering wheel? He loved em close... Now we wanna see Richard do some donuts in the parkin' lot with that thang...😁
I started watching as a young kid in 1980 this was the car I liked the best and then I saw the person get out of it 👈🏼‼️ it was that day RICHARD PETTY became my HERO ‼️‼️‼️ well fast forward to now ,,, I’m 53yrs young RICHARD PETTY is still my all time HERO AND I STILL WANT TO PUT THAT #43 race car in victory lane at DAYTONA ….WHAT ??? Who said because you age don’t mean that you still can’t have dreams ‼️I can whip a car though ..I was born with it ! Just wasn’t born with the $☹️
You guys are very carefully about waking her up for the first time in 6 years that car got a spa treatment!
Amen, Men were Men & Stockcars were Real.
Real man car
Oh wow, very cool!!!!👍👍43
We need this on iracing
What size Holley on there? It looks like a 650 or 780.
Kinda forgot how much more rounded the rear windows were on those 2+2s compared to the Aerocoupes.
SORRY. BUT i LOVE YOU BOYS! tHANK YOU!!
What's the history of this chassis? Did it ever have 88 Grand Prix sheet metal on it?
Should have gotten Kyle to run it down the road for us! HAHA!
A die hard Holley guy why set the idle at 2000 RPM ? That would of been happy at 1200 I would of been cranking the idle down and adjust the A/F mixture
That sounded like a standard GM starter of the day. Wonder if this is an actual nascar engine or just a built small block with headers and the race car exhaust. Just seemed to have a mild sound to it.
