    Incredible. I met Bill at Atlanta many years ago when I was a kid. It was raining and gloomy and his words to me were "nice day for a duck, huh?" He will always be my favorite. I have a picture with him and that will stick with me forever.

      If its tuned right it starts right up. My jeep has a carb with no choke and it starts faster than it did with EFI. Just pump the pedal twice so that the accelerator pump squirts fuel and it starts up. Stay on the gas for a couple second until it idles decent and then its good.

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is very easy. Running and driving practice cars and spare cars go for a bit over $10k and anything older or in pieces will hover around $5-$6k. There is auction sites for race cars and people will also sell them in normal classic car magazines. If you have private land to drive around on or find an abandoned racetrack or rent one you can drive them as much as you want. Not sure if track day events would allow offical sanctioned stock cars to drive around with everyone else.

    I’ve seen some people run the starter for a few seconds before hitting the ignition. I’m guessing this is to get oil through the system in a wet sump engine?

    • @copperhead94
      @copperhead94  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That’s probably correct but it seems that you wouldn’t want the engine to turn over with little oil in the system? The way I was told to do it just circulates oil without the engine turning over.

    • @jayss10
      @jayss10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe not on these cars but on your methanol fueled cars like sprints rolling the motor alittle before actually turning on the ignition is to clear the cylinder of any fuel so it doesn’t pre-ignite the cylinder.

    • @copperhead94
      @copperhead94  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @DuaneHallgren
      @DuaneHallgren 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jayss10 no you turn the fuel on to build fuel pressure, then flip the ignition to fire. If you want to clear the cylinders of fuel you put the car in gear and "back it down" in reverse.

      An electric heater heats the motor oil before the air gun turns the oil pump gear, to circulate the heated oil (about 200°F) through the engine before it's cranked & fired. Explains the 3 prong cord coming from the socket behind the driver's seat, just inside the window.
