    I enjoy your passion caring for these beautiful orchids! I became an “orchid rescuer” after watching all these videos. Saved 2 phalaenopsis orchids from a flower shop in the clearance (dying plant) section. Hope you feel better soon and many blessings on your 2022 endeavors!

    They are all very beautiful!😍 i wish i can find the red lava burst, i have the ‘puanani’ but for me the flowers look pale. The first time she bloomed for me she had one branching spike and very long lasting, now she is growing two spikes😀 and the amazing Thailand is really amazing. We love it so much specially my mother because before we thought cattleyas have only two colors of flowers white and purple and the amazing Thailand is full of different colors🤗 more power to you Danny, thank you for always expanding our knowledge about the amazing world of orchids through your videos💖

    Howeara Lava Burst was one of my first orchids and she is my most consistent bloomer. My Phalaenopsis schilleriana is in bud right now with so so many buds!! I love them both.
    I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.

    I have a psychopsis mendenhall (one of the kinds with mottle leaves - there's more than one). It's a strange one! It likes to dry out. When I first got it, I was watering it too much, and if started dropping leaves.
    Great video, by the way! While I have quite an extensive aroid collection, my focus on orchids continues to expand. Having a private orchid grower nearby has changed everything for me. If he doesn't have what I'm looking for, he typically knows someone who does. It's trouble for my wallet, but great for my obsession. 😂

    I actually detect a faint fragrance from my Psychopsis Mariposa around noon on bright days. I definitely consider it beautiful with its ruffles, patterns, size and bright yellow colour. I too love the big-flowered Cattleyas, and accept their large size and relatively short bloom time simply because the flowers are so impressive.

    Danny, you inspired me to get a Schilleriana. However, it’s not meant to be sadly. I cannot find them locally so I’ve purchased two online. The first one was my first horrible packaging experience. It came like a Venus fly trap. Soaking wet in a humidity dome. And the second from a different vendor was damaged in shipping and the seller did not respond when I reported the problem. Maybe one day my local nursery will have her and I will have a beautiful plant

    Beautiful!
    I just bought my first vanda! Is Bangkok sunset but it's from Motes and they made it. 2 near blooming size for $35! From their pictures it looks like the colors are more intense and plant each one is different. My next vanda is going to be Sanderiana. I found that Hauserman has it but the colors seems muted but it could just be an old picture

    I bought a *seedling* Lava Burst recently (a little baby, still on the foam plug), and it already *gave me a spike* on its largest psuedobulb. I'm probably only going to get 2 or 3 flowers because it's a very young plant, maybe only 6 months out of the flask, but what a precocious little orchid!

    hahaha I'm sitting in my chair checking my orchids to see how their doing, and she says this is an orchid which you probably haven't and what just happens to be in my hands a psychopsis mendenhall with very mottled leaves, 2 new growths, 1 maybe or 2 newer growths, one of the "old" newest growths decided to grow either another new growth or spike which if that's the case I'll have 3 spikes! To me the flowers look like a Samurai helmet

    You could talk in future videos of current books about orchids, also about the best light to be able to photograph and film our orchids and one more thing about which there is very little information: paphiopedillum delenatii, a unique species that does not tolerate limestone soils like others paphs? Would be great! thanks!!

    • @hvonsus5725
      @hvonsus5725 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In order to see if your orchid needs water, you can look at the color of the roots! If they’re silvery gray, then they need some water, and if they’re green, they don’t need any.
      She has a very informative watering video, too, and if you’d like I can link it :)

    Get well Dani. My family and I just got over a nasty upper respiratory infection. And we were so thankful it wasn't Covid-19! Thank goodness for vaccines and masks! I am wanting to purchase a vanilla orchid cutting. But, I have to wait until weather is warmer. Because I worry it would be damaged from the cold. We just had a high temp of 5°F yesterday! I live in Indiana in the states. We get awfully cold in the winter. I wish spring would hurry up. I have plants to buy!

    My 'lava burst' sent out two big multi branched spikes but of the 40+ flowers, only 2 opened. The others dropped before opening and some spike branches even dropped off. The orchid is in a dedicated orquidarium, 80% rh, good light..... Maybe slugs? It's mounted on cork, bare root. Maybe it needs potting?

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I would be more suspicious of watering, this orchid drinks a lot of water when in bloom and psb can even shrivel a little while in bloom :) not saying it's the case, but one of the most common illusions with high humidity is that orchids don't need as frequent watering. It's only partially true, even at 99% humidity, a thirsty orchid will dehydrate fast. High humidity prevents excessive transpiration, but if the orchid uses the water, it has the same effect as excessive transpiration. From experience I was more prone to dehydrate orchids in high humidity chambers (mounted) just cos I was relying on the high humidity to keep the roots hydrated, which didn't happen with some thirsty orchids :P

    • @roythompson6137
      @roythompson6137 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MissOrchidGirl thanks so much for your reply. I will look at potting it into a more water retentive substrate. I suspect that some of my other bare root cork mounted orquids will appreciate the same, or at least a little sphagnum around their roots.
      Love your channel, great work, big thanks and a very Happy New Year!
