I used to hear this song on muzak back in 2005 when I worked as a bank teller. No matter how bad a mood I was in, this song would cheer me up. Been trying to hear this song again for 16 years but with no success. Didn't know any words to Google it and had no success humming it into the Google song finder. Finally, been listening to rickie Lee Jones songs and said "some of her songs sound like the one I'm looking for". So I went to Google music and played all her songs...and lo and behold..found out the song I so loved, IS a rickie lee Jones song!
( same thing with Amy grant's "like I love you". Didn't know it was Amy grant, but a fellow bank teller back in the day told me it was Amy)

As a young actor in NYC, this was one of my first film experiences. Although you don't actually see me until the 4:22 mark, and then only from overhead, I was supposed to be a TV director, leaning on a TV camera. I believe they likely didn't use the front-facing shot of my character, as well as a couple of others next to me, because Ricki Lee had gotten accidentally burned by hot oil from a sputtering fog machine that had been placed in the base of the camera I was leaning on, and boy was she ever PISSED!!! It was directed by Zbigniew Rybczyński, who'd won the Academy Award for his animated short film, 'Tango', the previous year.

I remember seeing this video on Night Tracks - I lived in a small town in North Dakota that didn't have MTV, so Night Tracks was a lifeline! I am so glad they played stuff like this, exposed me to a lot of great music outside of the top 40.

Thanks so much for finding and uploading this! I remember see it when it came out and really liked it and its been so hard to find until now. Came across it on some US site a couple of years but it since dissapeared.
So this was really made before CGI, and the use of the faux Adobe interface over the top of it was really innovative at the time and I have copied the idea myself for a project I did once. I like the fact that is is a bit geeky, and not everyone will understand it.
The rest of it is quirky and fun and it seems like RLJ is enjoying herself. Also great use of crane and long single takes, which in itself is an artform. It means that you have to plan your shots and action carefully rather than just fire away and sort it all out in Avid later.
I wonder who made it?

I was checking out the Hot 100 charts from 1984 and came across this nice song. Jones always had a distinctive vocal style and the tune is catchy, but man this was not the kind of stuff that was burning up the charts.
