    I listened to this and other great works last night in a darkened room with candlelight. from sorrowful songs to really upbeat ones from her and others. some singing aria's like this and some concerto's. after about an hour and half, I just can't take it anymore. it has too much of an emotional impact on my psyche, both sad and joyful,and sometimes at the same time. I had to stop and just watch a normal tv show. I think this music can actually physically heal people. god forbid, if I ever got cancer, I think I would just listen to this type of music every day and dream about getting better, and it just might help.

    How beautiful! There is a great dramatic impact. This kind of pathos seems to me very Italian, it is a moral torture. The pictures are really terrible, but beautiful. Many greetings from a small, lazy, Medieval, Italian town. Thank you again.

    • @fredgarv79
      @fredgarv79 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the same thing. I feel Italian even though I am thoroughly of English heritage living in seattle. My above post, I did this right after making my first authentic carbonara with Guanciale (which I had a hard time finding but it's worth it) learning it from a you tube channel called vinchenzo's plate. I made his lasagna and others before too. what medieval town do you live in? if you are interested in cooking, there is a very fun and interesting channel called "pasta grammer" which features an Italian woman from the south of Italy, where she has married an american and she shows him how Italians really eat.

    • @lauracompagnoni1239

      I live in Viterbo, near Rome (more or less 1 hour by car). It's a very ancient town, the first houses were built in 852 around a castle and a church at the top of a hill. The main sight is the Pope palace, built between 1255 and 1266. The first Pope who lived there was Clemente IV. Can I tell you a story about this place? When Clemente IV died, the election of the new Pope took a long time, about 2 years and a half. The citizens of Viterbo were so fed up of waiting that they removed the roof of the building and let the cardinals locked in and without food. Soon after was elected Pope Gregorio X.

      @@lauracompagnoni1239 fantastic interesting story. wonder how many people lived there in medieval times?, I looked it up and wow! looks like earthquake country.beautiful city.it said the modern day population is 67,000? that must include surrounding areas.
      I love history, especially ancient history of greece and rome. I have never been to either country but I do plan to soon, I hope., but I went to turkey in 98 and saw so many great greek and roman ruins, mostly all by myself because I went in late march before the tourist season started. wondering alone in these ancient cities, only person in the great theater, etc I could hear the wind rustle through the columns, the goats wondering through with their goat bells tinkling. and in one instance I felt like I almost could feel the ghosts of the place were there watching me, and they were sad that their city was no more. the strange thing is I looked it up later, and other tourists said the same thing, it was this spooky place, and only this one particular city. I think it was called Pinara, no wait, it was Priene.
      (side note, I also have a 1974 alfa romeo spider convertible in Verde Inglese that I bought from a Sicilian alfa romeo complete fanatic back in 2008. I love that car. so, since this car does not have a stereo system, and even though I love to listen to the music of the engine, I am going to get some earbuds so I can listen to great classical music like this driving around in the summer in the sunshine)

      @@fredgarv79 HI Fred. Thank you for replying to my email and thank you for the suggestion about music. I had already listened to those pieces, but I like revisiting my personal favorites and they are among them. I love Vivaldi's music, he has a great vitality and the melodies are stunning. Nobody is as gifted as Vivaldi in imitating the nature's voices: birds, winds, rain and all the sounds you like to hear, if I'm not wrong. I'm afraid my English is not good enough to express myself fully and in the correct form, I'll try to do my best. Do you know that Vivaldi was a priest? He was called the red priest. Who would have thought that a priest had so much sensuality and so deep understanding of love! Catholic priests cannot love a woman, in theory. So you are interested in history, expecially Roman and Greek history. So do I. In the evening I'm used to relax reading history or history of art or watching some historical documentary. It is really fascinating to know how people behaved in the past and what ideas they believed in, and what their life was like. We are our history, not only the personal one, in my opinion.
