Quelle magnifique façon de débuter l' année grâce à vous cher Jeffre, avec cette splendidemusique. Je vous souhaite le meilleur pour 2025 et vous remercie déjà pour les heureux moments que vous nous permettrez de partager avec vous.
Truly heartwrenching, but luckily enough, dear Jeffrey, your uploads keep coming also in the new year. May 2025 be a blessed one for you and your family!
You’re welcome. The art selected was inspired by the text which begins (translated): “If you are extinguished, O fair torch, I am left amid gloomy darkness.” I’m glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year!
Love this composer -he was born in a town not far from where I came from and he was active in northern Germany in the areas where the present British royals come from (Hanover.) Influenced Handel!
@@JeffreyStivers Another impressive opera by Steffani which I own as a CD is "Niobe, queen of Thebes" there was a revival and performances of this opera in both Europe and north America about 10 years ago. Steffani also wrote an opera called "Henry the Lion" which was a direct tribute to his Hanoverian or Guelph patrons as the German medieval figure called Henry the Lion was an ancestor of that dynasty. Steffani, a priest, was also the papal nuncio to the largely Lutheran northern German states. If I remember correctly a lot of his scores come from the British royal archives and libraries.
@ I have a recording of the Niobe opera by the Boston Early Music Festival. I have their recording Duets of Love and Passion, which features duets by Steffani. I also have a recording of his Stabat Mater performed by The Sixteen.
@ To be honest, it was only somewhat recently that I began to focus my channel on Handel. The next several weeks will definitely feature other composers, things I have been wanting to promote for some time now.
Thanks for this, Jeffrey. Incredible bassoon work here. Refreshing!
You’re welcome. I made sure to credit the bassoonist in the video and the video description, because the playing is very impressive.
Wonderful!Such beauty. You are always bringing surprises that amaze!

As you may know, this opera premiered in Hanover in 1691.

@@JeffreyStivers All I remember about the caste of Niobe in my CD is that Jaroussky is in it.
@ Yes, Jaroussky sings on that recording.
Une belle découverte pour moi 🎶❣️🎶❣️🎶 Merci 🙏
You’re welcome. It’s always nice to discover “new” music.
Splendid! Always grateful my dear Jeffrey, happy new year to you.

Merveilleux instants ...metci
You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Hope to hear more non Handel arias on your channel in 2025. Great bassoon!
There will definitely be more Handel, but I’m going to start off the year with some lesser known composers.
@JeffreyStivers Well, I don't mind Handel ;-) It's just good to listen a bit more to Vivaldi, Steffani, Porpora, Ariosti, Lotti and Co
@ To be honest, it was only somewhat recently that I began to focus my channel on Handel. The next several weeks will definitely feature other composers, things I have been wanting to promote for some time now.
Aria sensacional!
Giulia la canta muy bien, pero la versión de Amanda Forsythe es mejor en mi opinión... ❤❤👏👏
I am very fond of Amanda Forsythe's singing. I have a few videos with her singing on my channel.
