I must say, in the brief moments he was in the film. He brought a lot of humanity and warmth into his character. And his acting was so much better and natural to what he's doing. Great casting choice. Too bad we didn't get to see him find the Fremen and his interaction with them.
It added to the Mysticism of fremen, where Duncan is talking about them And admiring them..and there is just this invisible "presence" about them thorughout the movie...it worked really well IMO.
They cut so many of Jason's scenes, i heard him describe one scene cut where he does a space dive from his ship onto the surface of Arrakis to find the fremen, then you see him alone for days in the desert trying to find them, you see a lot of what didn't make it with him in this video, Hopefully a directors cut or Dvd deleted scenes will show it. Cutting scenes is always most painful to the director. They often shoot amazing looking scenes that they are proud of, but if a scene doesn't serve the story, or disturbs the pacing it has to be let go of. But I too, hope that maybe there'll be an extended cut. :)
Denis Villeneuve has said the theatrical version is his director's cut. He said the only scene that was hard to cut was Josh Brolin singing as his character. Doesn't mean there won't be an extended edition, but Mr. Villeneuve talks about such things very differently than Peter Jackson did.
@@ruukaoz It’s also possible that some scenes just don’t turn out as good as they want once they’re shot and cut together, and they’re cut so as not to disrupt the quality of the film. It can be that problems with the writing become obvious, or the acting wasn’t as strong for whatever reason, or it can be technical problems, like you couldn’t get the angles/movement you wanted, or lighting didn’t come together, etc. Sometimes it’s nothing that an audience would even have a problem with, but as an artist, it just didn’t match your vision and would bother you if it was left in the film. This tends to be the case when a director says that the theatrical version is their Director’s Cut. Just because something was shot, doesn’t mean it would necessarily be good to put into the film, even for hardcore fans that want more and don’t care about pacing or focus. Some scenes just end up not being good, despite the best intentions. Maybe we can see those kind of scenes in a deleted scenes special feature on a Bluray release or something.
Seeing Jason Momoa exploring the red dunes of Wadi Rum in southern Jordan, brings back so many memories when I was there 2 years ago. The landscape is so vast and breath taking with these massive rock formations I have ever seen, nothing compares anywhere else on Earth. It feels like you are in a different planet, its no surprise it has been used as a background setting in a number of films in particular for science fiction movies like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Prometheus, The Martian, Rogue One: A Star Wars story, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker & now DUNE.
No wonder that Wadi Rum is a set in many films... This place and Djanet (Hoggar mountains) in the central Sahara are divine places, forever favourite of mine

So, Duncan Idaho from the books was - an insanely badass fighter - Paul's favourite teacher - Leto's choice to reach out to the Fremen - a man the Femen respected and admired - a notorious ladies man, so handsome that women swooned - a bit of a drunk when the pressure gets too much - secretly pining in love for Jessica Mamoa captured most of that very well indeed.

first of all, Mamoa is the most beautiful human being in the movie industry...I mean, its kinda scary how attractive he is, and yet he seems to be very down to Earth. Secondly, after I saw Dune Part 2, for the 3rd time since its been released, its easy for me to call Villanueve, "thie era's Steven Spielberg"...his foresight and knack for imagery, is breathtaking.

Average skill level? This is an ensemble cast, what are you on about?
Jason! mannnn you are so cool! And you totally are Duncan Idaho! perfect casting, amazing film, i love the crew/cast they are right on for when i was reading the books, like tim and zen are perfect for the characters in the book, im so glad they got that right, but i wasnt worried,
Cant wait for part 2, its gonna be insane! I hope yall get to book 4, the god emperor is my favorite character in the series, could you imagine a real dry sandy voice of leto2?
Started reading the books this week, the movie is a good adaptation. All the keys scenes and lines and feel are well respected.
He'll always be Ronon to me! ♥
Loved him in this!
I'm soo happy they hired Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho. He's going to stay with the Dune franchise forever!
Thanks for the video
What I would give to be in any dune movie. If I could have my way, I would love to play Scytale the face dancer
you never met the harkonnen before, i have they are not human! they are brutal!! The finnish people smiles and nod.
they need to make several 30 min prequels like 100 eyes to hold us over until 2023
5:01 is incredible behind the scenes
I'm just patiently waiting for _Dune: Messiah_ 😉 "You are Duncan Idaho."
'Don't see that in Iowa.' As someone who grew up in Iowa and in Texas, I can verify you definitely wouldn't see that in Iowa. :)
What a huge guy he is! Thought he had a guitar for a moment, turns out its a bass guitar ❤
Jason just embodies the role of Duncan Idaho.
"did u win papa?" damn
good job!!! Aquaman !!!
Can't wait for Dune 2!
We need to cultivate what I call “ GHOLA “ power
first of all, Mamoa is the most beautiful human being in the movie industry...I mean, its kinda scary how attractive he is, and yet he seems to be very down to Earth. Secondly, after I saw Dune Part 2, for the 3rd time since its been released, its easy for me to call Villanueve, "thie era's Steven Spielberg"...his foresight and knack for imagery, is breathtaking.
İ wish HBO/Warner Bros did a docuseries on making Dune like they did with Making of Thrones
“do you win papa?” 🥺
Bass guitar at 3:21???? Lol him slappin' the BASS at 4:00
3:55 Momoa plays bass !!!!!!!
and lead and drums too!
Duncan is essentially Paul’s awesome uncle.
I wish we would have seen these scenes of Duncan’s scouting mission.
Superb!
The perfect Duncan Idaho
Jason is my fav in this film
This is probably the best bait i've ever seen
9:05 MUSIC? PLEASEEEEEEE
Dune could be a five hour movie and I wouldn't even take a pee break
RESPECT!
Love this first movie of Dune part one♥️ look for see Dune part two when is come out in theater♥️♥️
Does anybody know what are the music pieces consecutively used in that video?
I’ve been trying to find this forever
Anyone know where the music between 9:09 and 9:50 can be found? Doesn't appear on the soundtrack albums...
Are you Duncan Idaho?
My name is Hayt
Momoa was the life and color of this movie.
Hard work but thats gotta be the best job in the world.
The movie is ome of my favourites at this point and not much even goes on really 😂.
Jason Brings honor to our his/my hometown region, K'plagh bro
eta- Universal Pictures?? I thought it was WB & Legendary Pictures
anyone know the music from like 5:30 and on?
Thanks for sharing but the title of the video is incorrect though. This is DUNE part 1
Devem ter mudado o titulo criando um bait pra quem está procurando sobre a parte 2. Vigarice
Does anyone know what scene it was that made the final cut that Momoa was talking about?
it was when paul was in the desert with his mum after they escape from the worm , there for a second you see him sitting with other fremen folk
One scene i really wish they had kept was the dinner scene. Everybody playing deadly cut-throat battle against each other but hidden under the necessity of showing good manners. Who hasn't had a holiday dinner with relatives like that!?
I knew Duncan was a musician (not as good as the great Gurney Halleck), but I didn't know he played the base. Ha, ha.
Hope that his cutted scenes will be in Part 2 as flashbacks
what is the piece of music that starts at 2:50 ANYONE KNOW? THE name of the song?
Let me know if you ever find it
