    All the scenes that appear in this video were scenes (and audio) that did not appear in the final film. I reconstructed some of the scenes to get a rough sense of the deleted scenes and I restored the footage and images to 4K. I hope you enjoy this effort.

You pay for all of that including the materials and artist and considering the factors whatever premium they'll charge would probably be worth the additional charge but they may just put the extended edition on Netflix and altogether forgo the physical release anyway. • @mnomadvfx
      @mnomadvfx 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Not necessary.
      The training we see is enough already.
      What is missing is all the character definition and plot development that was ripped out of the story.
      I would like to see the 'traitor' conflict between Hawat and Jessica, and the state of poor Duncan set to 'guard' her and getting drunk to cope with it.
      I want to see the look on Hawat's face when he realises that not only is he utterly outclassed by Jessica, but that she could have destroyed them all at any time with ease.
      (incidentally such a plot exploration would wipe out any need for bulls**t extraneous female empowerment crap in a saga already crammed with great female characters - Chani having completely unnecessary screen time and Kynes being gender swapped are 2 such examples of this unnecessary politicking by the studio, both token changes that add nothing to the story)
      I want to see Kynes demonstrate competence dealing with the spice harvester carry all problem.
      I want to see the banquet that has everybody on edge.
      What I don't want to see is Paul moping and whining and bitching at all - it's not Paul Atreides at all.

      "I agree that most people are already conditioned to watch long movies by binge-watching"
      Not the same thing at all.
      I can watch an entire season of Stranger Things, but I get bored less than 3/4 the way through any of the LOTR extended cuts, they are just too long.
      Same thing with the 1996 Hamlet which is 4 hours long - but that at least is fully justified by the sheer amount of material to cover, so I just pace myself and stop part way through to break and eat.
      Binge watching doesn't mean that you literally watch the entire thing with no breaks as you would in a cinema.
      Even cinemas let you go for a short break in between when they show multiple films at once.

      I disagree. It felt rushed as hell to me. Mainly how it jumped to from plot point to plot point without giving the proper character or situational development so the depth of emotional impact wasn't what it should have been. My wife, who hadn't read the books or seen the first one, like it but was confused by number of things and didn't feel much for things she should have like the betrayal or the pain box scene.
      You can't do a 4 hour theater movie but this really needed at least that much more content. Reality is this just should never have bene a movie, it needs to be something more like a 10 hour miniseries (even then it would have to cut out a lot).

    Some of these cut scenes are mindblowing and also what i felt was missing in the final film. The scene where Stilgar sees the portal in space is just an insane shot, and awakens something powerful deep within me. A scene that absolutely needed to be in the film in my opinion. Let's hope that for once in his life, Denis chooses to release an extended cut of one of his movies, it can be a deal with HBO for example, that only on HBO will you see the final extended director's cut, maybe HBO would be willing to pay quite a bit of money for that, who knows. I would not wait a second to watch that version of it was released, and i don't care if it's 4 hours, 5 hours or 6 hours. I want to see everything that went through Villeneuve's head. Well, HBO could turn it into miniseries which would be perfect format for them. And it would actually bring us Dune with some of it's complicacy, compactness, character backgrounds and relations between them. But I understand why Villeneuve wouldn't agree to it, it would be much harder to stand firmly behind his speedruny cinema cut and consider it THE final cut. And it simply isn't it and anyone familiar with the books knows it, it's just that I would rather not know how much they have actually filmed and what I'm missing. It's kinda sad, because while I love his take on Dune, I hate the fact that single restrain, running time that is, turned it into really rushed and flat experience.

      I thought the movie was visually amazing and the soundtrack was almost as perfectly set to accompany an alien yet familiar universe. The sets and colors were minimalist and washed-out, which made for a powerful and oppressive backdrop. However, the incredibly rich universe of the book was also executed in a minimalist way with no mention of a very large number of the themes that inform the viewer of the depth and purpose of the storyline. A buddy commented that, while we enjoyed the movie, unfortunately anyone who had not read the book would have no idea of the motivations of the characters because so much was not mentioned. He said "they turned Dune into an action movie". I agree, the banquet scene, the Thufir/De Vries scene, the greenhouse scene, and so many others, if added back in would give a visually stunning movie an equally stunning soul. Let's hope Mr. Villeneuve allows an extended version so that the genius of the movie can be elevated to the genius of the book.

      I dont agree. I dont understand why they should cut half the book out "for theaters" since they already shot it. People have proven time and again to studios that they want to see an excellent movie, no matter if its 4 or 5 hours long. Many many films that were over 3,5 hours long were huge commercial successes. I am a huge Dune fan and i would not pay to go see this film a second time, nor would i pay to have a BlueRay of it. If it had all the mentioned scenes, i would probably watch it 4-5 times in theaters and i would gladly pay premium to get a cool collectors boxset BR. The people that would be discouraged to watch it if it was longer would never pay to watch it multiple times nor pay to buy a BR of it. So in the end the studio actualy lost money with this cut. The lynch film does have an extended cut but it was made by a fan and you can find it right here on TH-cam it's the dune extended edition redux by spice diver and it is perfection or at least as perfect and close to what lynch probably wanted in the first place but was not allowed to make, it draws upon many sources for its footage and the recently posted one on TH-cam up skills the quality of and evens it out visually without changing its content. I actually was never super fond of the lynch film and I saw it at the theater as it deviates from the book in some serious ways whereas this version does not with the exception of the weirding modules which unfortunately could not be removed simply because of the large amount of the film that they appear in. Lynch has also gone on record as being against "director's cuts", that's why he demands final cut on all of his movies since Dune. But you know what we see on the special edition blu-rays of some of his movies? Deleted scenes, catalogued, discussions, etc, and in the case of "Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me" the recent rerelease from Criterion has "The Missing Pieces", approx 90 minutes of deleted footage, alternate takes, all polished with full post-production, scoring, in chronological order with the main movie.... Just not in the main movie. Those scenes were known, teased, discussed, and hunted down for 25 years, and were everything one (TP fans) would have wanted to see. The original movie was already around 2hrs 20 min. These are scenes Lynch says he loved but regrettably had to be cut for time.... Now, fan edits will be fan edits, that's a different animal altogether. If deleted scenes exist and there's a desire for it, nothing is going to prevent it from happening, but i digress.... We may not get an official extended edition, perish the thought....but maybe we'll get to see a supplement full of extra footage, deleted, alternative, etc. I would hope it's everything we could hope for, we've all seen those movies on BR touted with deleted footage that amounts to one/handful of little minute long scenes and that's it.

      Like Lord of the rings the Extended edition the extra scenes only serve to make it better, and do not detract in any way, even though all three movies then would probably run to 12 hours or more. Vileneuves skilled adaption of Dune not only brings a rather lets face it, esoteric and oddly dense book, to life but he manages to capture a lot of the philosophy and the implied drug references use of the spice insinuates.

    The best use of the hours of extra footage and deleted scenes will be in the HBO series, Dune: The Sisterhood. When they get to Dune in the timeline, they can re-edit the theatrical releases of all (3!) films, giving a far more detailed story, which the audience will be ready for at that point. No (theatrical film) production ever has a 5-hour shooting script for a single film release. They seem to have shot everything up to and including Jessica's Water of Life scene, which would be the smart thing to do considering the two-year time jump right after that in the book, and the fact that Chalamet is going to start looking (at least an hour) older any day now. I firmly believe this has been the plan all along considering Villeneuve is set to direct the pilot for the series, and Brian Herbert & Kevin Anderson are both attached as producers for the series as well as the film franchise. HBO/WB needs something bigger and better than GoT at this point to keep them at the top of the streaming food chain, and there's no bigger IP than Dune

    Here's my bet - based on the BR 2049 Blu Ray. After dune part 2 comes out, they will put the real deleted scenes that DV cut onto a 2 disc set. He's adamantly said he would never make an extended version and as much as WB has listened to him he might not ever do it. But I'm guessing a lot of the deleted scenes he's saving just in case he can use them in Part 2. though I wish things like Duncan's descent to Arrakis and the banquet scene would have been included in the coming bluray.

      @dee-vee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Extended cuts are great AFTER you've watched the original. Scenes like the banquet make little sense to an audience new to Dune. They would overwhelm the viewers with the amount of characters and their role in the story. Less is more. I watched the movie with friends who were new to Dune and they already had a hard time getting their head around the central political motivation of various parties (why the Emperor wanted the Atreides gone, for example). Villeneuve was wise to prioritize striking a balance that satisfies both the hardcore fans and the new audience. If the movie was made only for hardcore fans, we could kiss goodbye to Part 2.
      That said, I'd be first in line to buy the extended version blu-ray if they make it.
