Okay for the record, just because Jun makes beautiful cooking videos doesn't mean he eats high end food every meal all the time! No one has time for that!! We eat fast food. We eat pre-made meals sometimes. His most requested restaurants in America were 1. Panera and 2. Taco Bell. Taco Bell's Chickstars was definitely his most repeated meal choice during our visit. Jun loved the grilled burgers, and they were in fact delicious. Sometimes it's okay to just chill and eat the food your family makes without trying to prepare it like a chef.
Will you all be making a video where Jun talks about experiencing 4th of July and everything associated with it as a foreigner? I'd be interested to hear what he thinks about all the traditions around it and all the festivities.
I love how Jun is asking for guidance on the burgers and hot dogs. It's certainly not out of lack of culinary skills. He shows a ton of respect for cultural dishes.
FruitBatsLyra we do it over here, too^^ at least as far as I've seen it in my 27 years. It's always "a bit of this, a bit of that, and oh, that looks good, too"
I find it so sweet how patient Rachel's grandpa is with jun teaching him how to use the grill and how carful jun was being to make sure he didn't mess anything up awe
I think she should still speak in English and anytime Jun says something in Japanese, the subtitles should just be ????????? and have her go, "We don't speak gibberish in this country! And for the rest of the world :D. Oddly enough, my family grew up using Fahrenheit for our indoor thermostat so now I can only gauge outside weather/temperature in Celsius and inside temp in Fahrenheit.

@Tee Twetherlow No... It's wusster-shur. I'm from a city called Worcester and that's how it's pronounced. And the "shire" is pronounced like "sure". like in "New Hampshire"
I was about to comment this exactly. Even after years of knowing it's "wooster", when I see the word, my brain doesn't comprehend that. "Woo-chester-shure? Wooster-chester-shire?" Like... that is NOT how you spell "wooster" XD

Jun doesn't look uncomfortable. You guys eat what y'all want, let them. Loved the videoo! That ground hog was so cute and loved the camera quality (:
It is. A place, where others from all nations have gathered, brought a piece of the culture with them and created something new. At least, that's how I perceive it, coming from strong Irish roots, and my husband being Puerto Rican whose family also has strong roots and how we often times create something new, to meet in the middle for both families. You can say, well that's borrowing culture, and perhaps it is. But the difference is, we share it with one another. Coworker, taught me how to make dutch butter bars, another, brought in pulla. Etc, and for a white girl, I know how to make real asada tacos and fresh tortillas. List is endless, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Viewer from Germany here! I just started watching the video, but it's so interesting to see how similar our climates are, how similar the surroundings all look...yet how different the fauna is! :D We don't have groundhogs, chipmunks or those crazy-looking red birbs with the black something on their necks around here. This comment is probably stupid. I love animals
The red songbirds are called cardinals because of the males' bright color. (Females aren't so bright still beautiful.) They are widespread across much of North America. They don't migrate, and because they appear even brighter in snowy weather pictures of them are on many Christmas cards and seasonal decorations. Several states have declared them as an emblem and sports teams are named for them.
Lara Neves when I was a kid my mom would buy frozen burgers/premade sides because they were easier when there were 15 kids and 10 adults around for a cookout who were all going to eat like 2 hotdogs, a hamburger, and then some. I think it's just for efficiency. When there's only the family, 5 or so people, she'd make fresh burgers and sides
that is funny. you are funny XD i have never met a single american who regularly(at least 50% of the time) makes their own burger patties and i have met several who only eat burgers from fast-food restaurants
We actually end up eating out most days that we're in America! So not often. Although Andrew's girlfriend loves to cook and so they were going to cook together and make us all a meal. Didn't end up happening this visit so we have that planned for next Christmas!
I have to be honest - its refreshing to see other folks decorate for the 4th of July. My mom LOVES to put up a bunch of kitschy little decorations during the holiday and I always thought it was so weird because we were the only people that did it in our neighborhood or among our family/friends. Also, it was really fun to watch your grandfather teach Jun how to grill stuff on an American grill. Also the whole just guessing how much sauce and seasoning to put on the burgers - perfect.
We had a groundhog that lived in our shed and ate the little clover that grew in our yard. We called him Furry Murray and always made a ton of noise when we let the dogs out so he had sufficient time to run for cover. We have to cover our deck because he was running underneath that instead of back to his hole and the dogs went insane. We named him Furry Murray! We also have a possum baby that comes around. He's getting really big! Likes to steal the cat food(we have an outdoor cat). We named the possum Podrick :)
serotoninshot I guess that’s normal out there I didn’t know groundhogs and chipmunks were like that I thought just squrirels... even rabbits sometimes but woah
I'm pretty sure there used to be groundhog babies under that porch?? This lil dude might have lived his whole life under my grandparents' porch lol. Lucky for him they like feeding the birds!
I'm always so impressed by Jun's pronunciation of words with R. I know I should be used to it after all these vids but I still go "wow". Love your vids. You guys are great.
Your Grandpa is very mid-western hahaha Jun: "Should I just use my hands?" Papa: "Your hands are clean, ain't they?" Mid-west charm 10/10 - Best regards from Michigan
Actually the Northern parts of Texas have a bit of a different climate. It's a really big state, so the climate does vary a little bit. It's still a very hot area overall though.
Attack Doge, San Antonio here. Raccoons, 'possums, skunks and squirrels, geckos, garden snakes, timber spiders, cardinals, blue jays, woodpeckers, aztec doves, white wing doves, sparrows, hummingbirds, starlings, mockingbirds, a Baltimore oriole once and a scarlet tanager once. And that is one inner city backyard! Just across the street or flying over - whistling ducks, a snowy egret, a hawk, buzzards and an owl. (Not all at once; this was over years.)
I couldn't stop smiling this whole video. It's nice to watch people learn new things about cultures. It also nice to see open minded people and a family getting along. I love you guys. :3
hello from southern indiana! you guys are so close I feel like I should wave hi. :) it's kinda surreal watching the guy who makes food that looks like art grilling frozen burgers..I think I've watched every episode of junskitchen about a dozen times. great music, too. :)
That garden scene with the animals feel like it should be the start of a joke along the lines of "A groundhog, a squirrel, and a bird meet in a bar" And I wonder if Rachel realizes she pretty much put the flag of the Netherlands on the glass door? :D
aww Rachel and Jun are so adorbs. Rachel does DIY and Jun cooks. They both love animals and nature because they grew up close to it. But Jun grew up seeing his grandparents' patty fields while Rachel grew up next to a forest. And your families are so sweet. Grandpa knowing how Daniel likes his patty, Grandma likes seasonal decorations, etc. Your vids are so warm and fuzzy.
So many different birds. I have never seen so many different wild birds. My oh my! This looks good, I want this food. Have a happy 4th of July (or however you great each other today).
Videos with Rachel's grandpa are the BEST! He seems so home and a bit reserved at the same time, in a delicate way, like my own grandpa. Just the right feeling. You should make more videos with him!
And when you're a little kid in America trying to draw/color am American flag, it's hard to remember how many stars are in each row, and whether there are 7 red stripes or white stripes.
Never saw any of this animals in my garden. Maybe because I'm German... 😅 but they are so cute 😍 Rachel your family is so cute! PS: I love that you love food so much!
Jun you're adorable. Love how you both really respect and try to involve each other in your different cultures and you both show lots of interest and fun in learning.
Rachel & Jun's Adventures! I love Taco Bell!!!!
I haven't eaten Taco Bell for 2 decades+. I GO to Chipotle & ask for crispy tacos.
I love Panera!
+wheeler1, you should try it if you get the chance, its really good!
Will you all be making a video where Jun talks about experiencing 4th of July and everything associated with it as a foreigner? I'd be interested to hear what he thinks about all the traditions around it and all the festivities.
The only thing missing is Jun bicycling to the supermarket with the cat.
In this case it would probably be with the groundhog.
Haha that would be totally awesome.
woofinu 😂👌
Hakuuuu
It also seems that they are missing the burgers, must have mistaken them with some styrofoam.
I love how Jun is asking for guidance on the burgers and hot dogs. It's certainly not out of lack of culinary skills. He shows a ton of respect for cultural dishes.
Nathan V ah yes, the ancient cultural american dish of hotdogs...lol
Scarlett Whisperer ASMR And Jun is a great example of that.
Dumpling Dipper I didn't say ancient, but the traditional "burgers, dogs, and beer" cookout is definitely a part of American culture.
John Doe or at least the frozen ones... id go more into american traditional food being frozen junk food than "hot dogs" itself
John Doe Yes, Rachel indicates her family has roots in Germany.
And thus Jun was introduced to the American no-measurement-of-sauce system.
FruitBatsLyra this is too true to not be top comment
Haha, I live with two chefs so I always find it amusing to watch them try and do something with no measuring and just with their eye! X)
"How much should I put?"
"Listen to your heart, son."
the ki will guide you.
FruitBatsLyra we do it over here, too^^ at least as far as I've seen it in my 27 years. It's always "a bit of this, a bit of that, and oh, that looks good, too"
"These are Daniel's. He likes his burnt."
There's always that one guy. X-D

I like mine burnt too
I find it so sweet how patient Rachel's grandpa is with jun teaching him how to use the grill and how carful jun was being to make sure he didn't mess anything up awe

Paps: eh, whatever you want.
Jun: I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT.
Love paps attitude. His attitude is my personality 😂😂
lol

Classic American grandfather! Love it!
Not american but MURICA
more like a classic father response in general lol
roxascloud101 💀💀💀
Lol
Jun is the perfect man without even trying. So polite and handsome and helpful.
Can you do an Foreigner Idiot's Guide US Edition and Rachel can be narrator and Jun be the actor?
I think she should still speak in English and anytime Jun says something in Japanese, the subtitles should just be ????????? and have her go, "We don't speak gibberish in this country! We only speak English! Learn it!"
If Jun makes fun of certain stereotypes in the idiot's guide to Japan, the so should Rachel if they made an idiot's guide to America.
Only if Rachel speaks in a western accent like a cowboy XD
That would be so funny! I hope they saw this
Yeah but we all have a country accent supposedly... so that would be a weird video
easy to know if someone is an idiot if they voted trump
This is my favorite video music ever. I'm going to use this for literally every video we make now.
I'm completely okay with this. Classy af
there are 50 stars LOVE YOU GUYS
Jun show them the best you can cook
Rachel & Jun's Adventures! I miss grilling! Great job Jun! And great job on decorating gams&pappas house!
That was a big groundhog!
Rachel even though you have wonderful Jun cooking for you, I would like to one day after I am settled there to invite you both over to eat😉 if that will be okay.
Rachel & Jun's Adventures! It sounds good I'm ok with it
Dude this is the most american jun has ever been omfg
John Doe lol
Celsius is OK for our Canadian friends. But that's it.
No, he shot a gun in an earlier episode.
And for the rest of the world :D. Oddly enough, my family grew up using Fahrenheit for our indoor thermostat so now I can only gauge outside weather/temperature in Celsius and inside temp in Fahrenheit.
One day if you keep practicing you can learn both systems. It's not that hard, and the numbers are arbitrary.
I love all the animals! I think it's so cool that your grandparents put up the mesh around the tomatoes instead of trying to get rid of the groundhog. not everyone is so nice
haha they're both retired. Watching the animals in their yard is one of their favorite things to do.
yummy. that looks sooo good
kera webley For some reson this made me crack up....depending how you read it it sounds like your saying the animals look delicious
TubbsTheCat 😀😁
Unlike Rachel's family, my American friends in Maryland always try to shoot them....(´⊙ω⊙`)
Cuz they eat tomatoes and shit...
Ah yes the technique used by grandparents all around the world
“How much _____ should I add?”
“As much as you want.”
Kinda Venty and then they say you put too much lol
Ahh the classic no measurement system
Asian always do that..
And the grandma/mom measurement of : a little dash of xxx
The one I hate the most
ah yes the youtube genre of sitting alone in your room watching other people living there normal lives.
Lmao same 😂😂😂
No kidding!! it's midnight here. LOL 😲
Yeahhhh I don’t understand why I’m watching this.....
I’m not saying I’m gonna stop I just don’t know why I am... or why I continue to watch multiple of them
I was supposed to get up and go buy stuff like 2 hours ago. I've just been watching Rachel and Jun in my bed! 😔 Fricking PMS is making me tired too.
Your grandpa loves Jun... it shows so much in every video. "finally a man with discipline!"
Huzzah! A Man of quality!
I love seeing someone from Japan experience something so suburban America. It's kind of a humorous interaction but really cool to see as well.
when you've never seen a groundhog and at first sight you think it's a cat
The first time I saw one, I thought it was a beaver
R Marr I thought it was a beaver at first
Jennifer A 👏 good job
I thought it was a rabbit or a hare.. XD
I thought it was a beaver too, didn't know that groundhogs were that huge.
two straight minutes of a groundhog eating seads. FANTASTIC
Quality content
It's okay Jun, literally no one can pronounce Worschescheshchsetshire
@Tee Twetherlow No... It's wusster-shur. I'm from a city called Worcester and that's how it's pronounced. And the "shire" is pronounced like "sure". like in "New Hampshire"
Lol here in England it’s said as ‘wuss-ter-sheer’ so I’m assuming it’s the same in British Columbia and what not too
I just call it the wow sauce
@@thomasalias8492 no its how he said it god damn it

i see "jun tries american-" anything and i click. i love how curious people are in trying to figure out other cultures.
Fool, I see "jun" and I click xD
It warms my heart to see how kind and welcoming your family is! ❤️❤️
I agree, if only we could spend 1 minute to share and send these feelings to the world.. Maybe the world would be a little bit better place.
I love how this is literally the meme of a specific question just being answered with "yes" 😂
"How much sauce?"
- *YES*
"How much seasoning?"
- *YES*
jun: do you use charcoal for this grill?
rachel's grandpa: *propane*
3:25 - Jun: I declarated the dog. How do you like it.
Rachel: Aww!!

Jun: How do you spell decoration.
Rachel: *spells decoration*
Jun: I decorated the dog.
xD Just noticing the change in focus of the same statement from pride to proper pronunciation made me chuckle. Big props to all multiple-language speakers.
Jun: "how much?"
Grandpa:"yea, go on"
Me: yes
that's one cute groundhog....except I wouldn't really know. I've never seen one in real life.
haha he looks adorable from the side and then you see him face on and you're like... woookay buddy... hmm...
lowkey shading the groundhog 😂😂
That's what I think about squirrels! Someone UNDERSTANDS ME!!!!
Rachel & Jun's Adventures! It looks so much like a beaver! I had to keep checking the tail to make sure it wasn't flat.
omg is that wonho. I'm in my grave rn
"How much?"
"Whatever you want."
And that is how we prepare meals in America.
yep!
I mean there is a reason why there is so many obese Americans
Aahhhh I need a JUN in my life too!!! He's the perfect hubby one can ask for. You're so lucky and blessed, Rachel. And for sure Jun is as lucky too
Keep dreaming nigga
KARNOLD LAIPHRAKPAM creepy
at first i thought, "man what a fat squirrel" and then she said it was a beaver
boy do i have some news for you
don't worry I thought the same thing lol
And then she said it was a groundhog.
I lost it omg lmaooo
Literally almost made me spit out my drink
Don't worry Jun, a lot of American people have trouble pronouncing Worcestershire sauce too
Don't worry about not knowing how to pronounce "Worcestershire", Jun. That's one of those words that people pronounce multiple ways. They are often wrong, but it's a toss-up and native English speakers have troubles with it too.
MKMonster for real. i say "wis teh shire" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i can't say it the actual way
I slur it all together and hope for the best lol
I would say "werrschterrsher" myself if it wasnt for the replies in this comment lol

3:25 I see what you did there Jun... "Declarated"... Decorated... Declaration of independence... 4th of july...
oh that wasnt a joke...

So cute seeing Jun interacting with Rachel's family
would love to see rachel interacting with jun's family. will that ever happen?
jun-cat stalker
rachel-beaver stalker
lol

doge ! that was actually a groundhog, but yes! 😂
that is not a beaver! beavers are 1000x more awesome than groundhogs.

It's fun when people are really enthusiastic about holidays. I think it's really nice your grandmother decorates for everything :)

@Mia Smith It is silent that "shire" yes. Or "wustershuh" sauce. In common parlance. Even Yorkshire is pronounced Yorkshuh. By Yorkshire folk that is.

Grandpa: "Yes."
Your grandparents yard reminds me of my childhood friends grandmas place and my old neighbors place! Makes me really happy actually
"That looks really tasty - like a gummy"
That's what I think every time I see those - they look like shapes cut out of fruit roll-ups.
hello from southern indiana! you guys are so close I feel like I should wave hi. :) it's kinda surreal watching the guy who makes food that looks like art grilling frozen burgers..I think I've watched every episode of junskitchen about a dozen times. great music, too. :)
want to add that it wasn't a criticism..just a funny moment. I love grilled burgers and dogs..and had taco bell for dinner tonight. :)
That garden scene with the animals feel like it should be the start of a joke along the lines of "A groundhog, a squirrel, and a bird meet in a bar"
And I wonder if Rachel realizes she pretty much put the flag of the Netherlands on the glass door? :D
aww Rachel and Jun are so adorbs.
"How do you spell decoration? ... I decorated the dog." That moment was super cute omgggg
I love this omg
"How much?"
"Yeah" 😂❤️
He said “rooster” like a southern American, good job. It sounded authentic.
Rachel & Jun, you two are such an adorable couple and you live such a special life together. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
this video made my day! You both are such lovely people! And Jun looked so precious helping out with grilling the burgers and hot dogs!
Theres no such thing as too much decorating #murica
So many different birds. I have never seen so many different wild birds.
My oh my! This looks good, I want this food. Have a happy 4th of July (or however you great each other today).
first thing i always see in Rachel and Jun video:
CUTE ANGEL ANIMALS
Jun is so cute filming Rachel!!! Awww
Videos with Rachel's grandpa are the BEST! He seems so home and a bit reserved at the same time, in a delicate way, like my own grandpa. Just the right feeling. You should make more videos with him!
6:08 I'm British so I have ZERO shame about not knowing how many stars are on the American flag!
But yes, happy 4th of July to my American brethren!
PauseForGames... 50 stars for the 50 states and 13 stripes for the original 13 colonies.
PauseForGames 50
I'm American but I took me till 5th grade to figure out what the 13 stripes were for. We were singing American songs in music class.
And when you're a little kid in America trying to draw/color am American flag, it's hard to remember how many stars are in each row, and whether there are 7 red stripes or white stripes.
I'm British too. I know it's 50 😂😂
Woshushhhh sauce
Never saw any of this animals in my garden. Maybe because I'm German... 😅 but they are so cute 😍 Rachel your family is so cute!
PS: I love that you love food so much!
They're everywhere here that is wooded and not city. The guys on the ground were a groundhog and a chipmunk and the bird was a robin I believe.
Jun you're adorable. Love how you both really respect and try to involve each other in your different cultures and you both show lots of interest and fun in learning.
These videos seriously are helping me today, there is a ton of good energies in it that make me happy.
