He is so humble and modest, and so generous with his talent
Good, Great and beautiful Hymn. It is a soul lifting Hymn in times of need for God's intervention in our lives. Dr Folarin Williams
Thanks!
Organs seems to give hymns a different kind of divinity. Well done.
Thanks!
Well done. The tones of this instrument are so nice.

Another of my all-time favorite hymns and, again, an outstanding performance. Rob, thanks for all the time and effort you put into the preparation for these recordings and for uploading them for all to enjoy.

I tend to agree with the others - I think this is the best performance I've seen to date from you Rob. Accurate and smooth playing. Really nice texture to the sound with the stop choices. Stunning. Thanks.

Thanks for a beautiful version of this song - one of my favorites. - Larry
Beautiful playing. That organ has a lovely 'clean' sound to it. This wonderful hymn was sung at my wedding in January 2015. Very happy memories associated with it. Thank you for the video.
It certainly has, many thanks for watching!

This is by far the best recording in terms of sound I have had the pleasure of listening to here. Your playing is excellent and the organ is wonderful. I wish you would share the registration for some of the verses with us organists.

+Mike Hoth Thank you Mike! :o)
I don’t care what some people say about some of Conacher’s instruments. There’s something I love about this organ!!
That's right!
Many thanks! :o)
I’m told Vaughn Williams wasn’t the best believer in town but it’s amazing he edited Hymns Ancient and Modern and contributed so much to the music heritage of the Church of England. By the way, Down Ampney was his birth village where his father was Vicar.❤️🙏🇬🇧
Vicar's sons find these things difficult (maybe it's even a reason why Catholic Priests don't marry).
RVW was certainly a good man, even though he had a sinful affair while married.
He did not need to serve in WW1 (but did so anyway) - Royal Artillery that made him deaf, and ambulance service - one of the bravest and hardest roles offering many sights that can never be unseen.
But the Holy Spirit works as He works, at times a little enigmatically (as Jesus Himself noted).
Can't possibly imagine that RVW's genius was NOT raised to transcendence through the Holy Spirit - OF COURSE IT WAS!!!
Brilliant rendition, Rob. Just the right speed - sometimes organist play this one too slow!
@kejcolley Cheers Keith I played this one today went down a treat too! :-)
I love the ending, thank you for the video!
Your very welcome, Thanks! :-)
RVW knew how to write a tune!
He did!
Especially when the Holy Spirit had a hand in it - as SURELY He did!
@silverstartrucker Cheers Arthur I couldn't agree more too what you said as well :-)
Also a brilliant sound through my new BOSE headphones
Thanks very much KA! :o)
@aireschel1787 Many thanks you will find the answer if you google Mothering Sunday it happens this Sunday :-)
We're having this as one of our hymns for our wedding :)
All the best for your Wedding! - Hope it goes it well! :-)
Thanks so much we get married in July at a beautiful church in sheffield :-)
Good Luck! - Subscribe to my channel too :-)
RobCharles1981 will do :)
@behsstlc Thanks Larry :-)
Vaughan Williams the Almighty!
:-)
@francisville1 Thanks.
I like this - nice registration, clear rhythm but I notice a held note "mine" at the end of the second line (V1) and the other verses; shouldn't that run straight though? But it is generally sounding quite professional - well done!
One more thing; these videos are NOT performances. They are offerings of praise to Almighty God.
Is there anything more glorious?
:o)
Yes; when it is played as Ralph intended, with the correct phrasing and tempo; giving each note their proper count and observing the dynamic markings where applicable. Some sections sound rushed which kinda affected the beauty of the hymn. It is not one that should be rushed.
Obviously - the Three in One that the Hymn references...
Notably the one immensely active, immensely innovative, immensely loving in our times (including even the awful 2020s) - THE HOLY SPIRIT.
I love Him.
Please play Great God of Wonders MHB 356
Will do soon!
Many thanks!
Many Thanks! :o)
