And for me also. Lutheran German roots. The coastal bend of Texas USA. I visited Swansea on business 1/2 century ago. I did not appreciate how deep Welsh church singing and worship is until recently - thanks to tech evolution and artists like Rob Charles.
It still awe me how one had to coordinate their two hands and their foot to hit the right note. Absolutely stunning, Charles!! May the almighty God continue to bestow His blessings upon you.
It goes like this: 1. Come, praise the Lord, the Almighty, the King of all nations! * Tell forth His fame, O ye peoples, with loud acclamations! * His love is sure; * Faithful his word shall endure, * Steadfast through all generations! 2. Praise to the Father, most gracious, the Lord of creation! * Praise to His Son, the Redeemer, Who wrought our salvation! * O Heav'nly Dove, * Praise to Thee, Fruit of Their love, * Giver of all consolation. The * separates each phrase.
Sheer beauty in this wonderful hymn.Played in a number Catholic and Protestant churches throughout my Province of Nova Scotia, ,Canada. There is a beautiful descant that I am sure you could bring in the last verse.
Rob I just love the way you play this hymn. I am captivated by your footwork on the pedals too. So uplifting you have made my day so happy. Thanks Rob. I have played this many times and cannot see and hear it enough!
Since I do not play any musical instruments but have a good ear for music, it always amazes me how you can read the music, play the keyboards and play the pedals with your feet all at the same time ... I can barely cook bacon and carry on a conversation at the same time!
Playing the piano is challenging enough, but playing the organ is mastery. Both my Granddads played the organ, which may account for my love of the organ. Although I never heard my Dad's father play. I think the pinacle of what inspired me was a trip to the Royal Albert Hall over the Easter period back in 70s I think it was as part of the ELIM Pentecostal movement Easter celebration across the country. The organ here was just nothing I'd ever experienced before and never will again, unless I get to go to an event that has the same spiritual significance.
This is for Michael Taylor. In the song, there's a sentence "Praise to the Lord! the Almighty, the King of creation!" I want to ask, who's "the Lord the Almighty" refer to? Don't you think that the Lord can change? And it's said "the Almighty, the King of Creation", Why it's said "the King of Creation" if the lord just a creation, don't you think that God can be a creation that can become a God?
I am an alto in a church choir and have perfect pitch. This is in the key of G major and scored for four part harmony. Impressive performance, from a Christian blessed with perfect pitch!
Rob, this is one of those beautiful tunes that I always go back to again and again, Soul inspiring music Rob, thanks for such a beautiful version , love the rumble on the pedals . Kevin
A proper organ and organist is always good to hear. One query I have is that most organists play the beginning of the verse as an introduction. Supposedly this is to remind the congregation how the tune starts. I prefer to play the last part of the verse because it would please the musician more. In this case I would certainly start at “all those who hear” (for a standard hymn such as Lobe den Herren).
JUst absolutely magnificient performance on the organ. Rob you are simply the best. Keep it up God is smiling to see the degree of excellence with which you are using this great gift that he has blessed you with.
Certainly enjoyed hearing you playing "Praise to the Lord", Rob. On hearing you, I'm sure the Congregation would sing this old Hymn with gusto! Mnay thanks again for posting, Rob. Take care. God bless. Charlie, Aberdeen.
Great job as always! I love your interpretations of these hymns and how they are flowing and energetic. You really know how to bring life to a song! :)
I love hearing this wonderful hymns of childhood. Your talent is amazing. Furthermore, I appreciate the clean way you present the hymn, none of that fluff which make the song unrecognizable. Thank you!
I know this is 9 years old but I've just come across this today. One of my favourite hymns and what an outstanding performance. I can't stop listening to it. Well done Rob 👏👏

This Christian hymn was played quite often at my German Lutheran Church in Kitchener, Ontario. I fondly remember this piece.
Jolly Good!

8 years after this video was uploaded, TH-cam recommended to me. What an amazing arrangement. I wish to play like this one day.
Yep time flys!
It goes like this:
Not the standard translation. Catherine Winkworth's is maybe not so «modern» but still the best!
Beautiful music !! 👍👍👍👍
Many thanks!!
I so love listening to your renditions of hymns such as this. May God continue to be glorified through your amazing gift of music.
