    Dunno if this qualifies as a tip, but when selling a bunch of loot from a pack animal, you can get around constant inventory dragging from the animal by moving the animal near the building, initiating the shop menu with a player, and then with the shop menu up, you can click the portrait of the pack animal and open up its inventory. You can then sell directly from the animal’s backpack providing the shop is in trading distance of the animal.

    Kenshi is one messed up game when using a person as a extra loot bag is common sense. I personally always tried to find the strongest guy possible, usually a Paladin from the Holy nation and when the chance came snagged them up to use as a backpack and punching bag. It was also very good sneaking and assasination training to keep the character alive, but crippled so that you still get that benefit from doing all those horrible "Misery" esque things to them. Also, slapping a massive backpack on them adds even more room for stuff.
    Also, becoming a slave willingly is a great way to get into shape. The best outcome I had was getting dragged to Rebirth and spending a lengthy amount of time breaking free, getting the shit beat out of my character and learning martial arts, sneaking and improving toughness all the while. I eventually had to escape when my character got so tough that he risked losing limbs, since he wouldn't go down without being beaten to the inch of his life. Slavery is basically the best workout you can get in Kenshi.

    • @Zamolxes77
      @Zamolxes77 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Nah, too complicated. Make a training regimen for your guys. As soon as I recruit a guy, goes to Hub, puts a backpack filled with iron ore on him and spends next week auto running back and forth, training STR. By the time they finish they have 60 STR and 20 athletics.
      Agree that slavery makes for a great training regimen hehe.

    Excellent tips. I don't know if you'll see this, or if anyone will read this .... outside of the discord, Kenshi topics seem inactive.
    Just a tip to go with that first one, on wearing weaker armor. Something I noted when I had a single person ferrying iron back to Squinn from the iron deposits outside was they trained athletics very quickly ... reaching level 80 in about 15 hours of play, even when wearing athletics enhancing gear; slowing down their xp gain.
    You can automate movement of characters between two points. Build two say ... copper storages, or better yet a crop storage you don't grow. Then fill up their inventory with objects so they can only move one item at a time. Then tell half of your trainee characters to haul to one, and half to the other.
    The amount of items in each can slowly unbalance. Just check in once in a while, or make the characters all have a secondary command to move items back. This plays havoc with their AI, as the condition for the first order will occur the moment they pick up a single item from the full bin, so it's less reliable and efficient.
    Now, if they're carrying a lot of heavy stuff, say iron, and are carrying a body, and don't have a command to carry any iron to a storage, they'll keep going. Same with if you filled up their inventory with another crop, which would train athletics. Heck, you can even buy two houses in the city and have people sneak between them, or have them swim back and forth across a pond.
    Alternately, you can have the characters pull single resources from a mine/processor to a storage/processor, rather than ferry items between two storage depots.
    As they're never idle, they'll never go to ditch resources. For added security, you can create the setup in a faraway city.

    • @liamhogan4369
      @liamhogan4369 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Addendum: using commands means they won't starve.
      Second tip: Build a double gatehouse. Then you can do 3 great things.
      Insofar as training is concerned, you can intentionally let your shooters have weaker, faster firing bows (Junkbows are great) and rain fire down onto heavily armored troops to train your precision shooting stat with a minimum of danger.
      You can also drop the gate in the middle of an enemy wave, cutting their effective forces in half until they can bring down the first gate ... and then you've already mauled their forces. You could do this with only one gate, but then they'll probably go after your ranged units.
      The final neat thing about this is your gate becomes way more durable. With several taunting, heavily armored troops in front of it, the enemy won't batter it down nearly as quickly, buying your archers loads more time than simply repairing the gate does ... which you are of course also doing. I've always found the enemy bum rushes your archers very easily.
      Oh, and those troops don't have to be yours .... paid bodyguards for a single heavily armored (or heavily expendable) squad-mate work wonders.

      @liamhogan4369 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just found out that most mod collections, like Age of Blood and Sand, or Universal Wastleland Expansion, or most storage improvement mods will disallow this trick.
      Essentially, anything that updates the AI to haul to all storages of a given type, i.e. linking all identical storages within the given radius for jobs, will also remove the ability to move objects between two storages.
      In these cases, just use a single storage next to a copper deposit at the top of a watchtower, as I alluded to/

    Hey mate, great video. Not sure if you have covered this in a previous tips video but its about how strength and dexterity effect your weapon speed. For example a weapon with high blunt damage and low cutting damage will need more strength to wield efficiently and the other way around so if a weapon has a high cut damage and low blunt damage it will take more dex to wield properly. (e.g. a meitou fragment axe has 3.60 blunt dmg and 0.66 cut dmg so it will take much more strength than dex to weild this weapon efficiently). Forgot to mention if the weapon has around an even blunt and cut dmg it will take an even amount of strength and dex to wield such as the falling sun.

    About wall mounted crossbows - the situation with them is more complex than just assigning the job.
    Higher tier walls have these "nests" that protrude beyond the wall - and the game may count the characters within as being "outside" - they will not go to eat anything if the gate to your base is closed. Sometimes, when loading the game, they may also spawn outside the wall - so don't save during the attack.
    You best way to work around this issue - Skeletons - use them - they don't eat, they can stay at wall forever.
    Another tip regarding the wall defenders - avoid setting your turrets in a straight line. Wall turrets actually have nearly 360 arc of fire, and Kenshi's line of sight is a bit wonky. Chances are that turret gunner will swing into the walls and start firing, hitting other gunners near them - even with 100 Precision Shooting. So - don't put your gunners in a straight line, and leave gaps between them.
    Make use of the watchtower building - it is so tall that this friendly fire issue is negated.
    Another thing - lights are more than just decoration - working in good light is faster and more efficient (and gives better quality when crafting weapons and armor) - do not neglect the light - put lights around your farms as well, to ensure they work efficiently 24/7. This also applies to defensive operations - enemy in light is easier to spot for your gunners, and friendly fire is less likely.
    Are your crossbowmen hitting your own guys? Give shooter a really bad crossbows and your frontliners the heavies armour you can afford - this will negate any friendly fire damage and will level up precision firing in no time.

    Best base personnel are Skeletons. You can explore to your heart's desire without worrying your farmers and crafters will die of starvation if you forget to micromanage them. Conversely, Skeletons make best explorers - you can run across the whole map without carrying even one piece of meat with you.

    Just always have that backup sneaky guy who can heal up your people.
    Also remember to skin animals after you fight a herd of them. You wont belive how durable they are and how fast they get up if you wont kill them.

    Another tip to the sneak leveling up that I've found, is if you hold shift and right click back and forth like 30 times from one side of a town to another while sneaking, you can queue up a bunch of sneak walking for them. You don't have to manage it at all after that while they do it. An optional thing I like to do after that is get them enslaved so I can train up a ton of lock picking and toughness. Slavers will always heal you and feed you so it's free toughness experience. Just sneak around at night and lockpick everyone in the buildings' cages and shackles, steal everything out of chests, practice assassinate on another inmate repeatedly on people in cages. Boom free ninja

    Here's a few extra tips
    1. If you need to travel through a dangerous region, try to do it at night. All characters have reduced line of sight when its dark, and won't be able to see you from far away so long as you avoid light sources. This is really useful when traveling through places with Beak Things, since most of them will be asleep in their nest and the few still walking around wont see you unless you get real close.
    2. Camp fires can be used as substitutes for other light sources. If your characters are building or working and you dont want to build a torch or light fixture, putting two camp fires close by will produce enough light to avoid the "Working in Darkness" penalty.

    Is the sneak bit mod related? Sneak doesn't improve when the red eye appears or when it's just allies for me.

      Are they maybe to far away from a food source? I know its been a week haha but you can try to unassign the job reassign and then save and reload the game. Maybe moving a food source closer to them might help? Let me know so I can see if I can help you figure it out :)

      @@solidayholiday9114 I've seen them running towards the food barrel only to turn around half way and go back to turret guarding while half-starved when an enemy starts to approach my gate. From what I've seen, when there are enemies to shoot at they think it's higher priority than eating.

      You might try putting food in their inventory so that way the get their hunger back up then see if they do it? I have no idea. Like I said earlier you might have to try to move your food source closer to see if that helps? I'm sorry, I wish I could help more!

      You can make your own faction (and base/city) and become king of that, but unless you get a mod that allows up to 256 squad members over the vanilla 30 you won't feel like much of a king lol.
      As far as I know you can't become the leader of an existing faction, only ally with them. I'm not sure if there is a mod that changes that.
