I've lived in Florida since 1969 and I love it here. The summers are hot and it takes some getting used to the humidity. Winters are somewhat cold when a front moves through your area but it warms back up to the 70's rather quickly. "Winter" is mid December to early March, and is pretty painless for most people. Hurricanes are a scary between late August to late October, but you learn how to get prepared and what to do and it is the same thing every year. Honestly, pick inland, do yourself a favor and try not to be in a flood zone. It will save you thousands of dollars annually to be inland. The problem I see with Florida now is the cost of living has risen dramatically since covid19 pandemic. Everything has pretty much doubled from what it cost in 2019. It used to be a great place to retire but that is not the case today. Unless you are high income of course. Jobs are available but not necessarily as high paying as up north or out west. As a semi-retired person, I can see myself living here for awhile but I do worry about literally being priced out due to rising insurance costs and property taxes. In that case, I would probably consider TN or maybe the Carolinas. If you do choose Florida, beware, do your due diligence and count the actual cost of living here. Overall, it is a beautiful state with great weather but you need to be sure you can afford living here long term before making an expensive move here.

Careful what you wish for. You won't just get warmer winters, but hot and humid days for 9 or 10 months every year. I know this from living there 40 years. Also, Florida isn't affordable as it once was. Look at that carefully, do your research.

I am going to stay living in Florida. I’ve been here for 32 years. Enjoy it. I went on vacation in Texas. Very disappointed.

South Florida is almost as expensive as California and New York now and Tampa and Orlando do not even compare to Houston or Dallas in terms of career opportunities. Ultimately it comes down to how much you love the beach

Thank you for doing this video. Because my family and I torn between moving to Texas and Florida. I’ve been to Florida for the first time last year, and I fell in love. I’ve never been to Texas before so Florida as a 1 point ahead. Thank you again for this compare and contrast video. Enjoy your weekend😊

I've lived in Sunrise Florida since 1998 bought my house in 2012 and every year I get an increase of around 4200 dollars in property taxes, i am not sure i can afford my mortgage next year.
i have equity of 500k and i am thinking of buying cash a house in Austin, something I can't do here in Florida. Also, I am tired of the weather, is hot all year round (except this last
winter, not cold either), hot in the day and hot in the night, and can't even be outside for 5 minutes before your butt starts to sweat. definitely, Florida is for Vacation only, for me at least.
a week ago, i heard in the news that elders are on the move, out of Florida because they can't afford it anymore.
Austin offers better housing, not just new constructions but the prices are lower than South Florida. home and car insurance prices are also lower in Austin.
I did the research myself and Texas!!!! here I go.

If a couple is retiring Florida is the choice over Texas with so many retirement communities and warmer winters. A family of 5 might be better off moving to Texas with more Job opportunities, and less expensive homes. Florida and Texas are both Red States/Republican, both Texas is Ruby Red. ( Lots of Guns and Pick up trucks).

I own a property and living in TX for over 30 years now, but I would like to have a vacation home in FL for my pre retirement in a few years, then will be living full time in FL once I retire so I can have my own tropical garden of fruits and vegetables in my backyard. TX, then, will be only my vacation home. That's the plan for now, but we never know what life may take us. Sometimes, things happen along the way that are out of our control.

The house I have in the Dallas area would be $100,000 more in the Tampa Bay area. Oh, and if you like heat and unbelievable humidity for 9-10 months of the year, then maybe Florida is for you.

If you smart enough, you buy a house in Florida, next 10 years that house will be 300-350k more, while in Texas it will be only 100k more.
So after purchasing a house in Florida wait 10 years then sell it and buy a big nice house in Texas’s :)

Texas is way better and way bigger with more opportunities. There is no comparison when it comes to the number of fortune 500 and fortune 1000. Texas has many more headquarters, is more diverse, more job opportunities, etc. Bigger airports, stadiums LOL. The Big cities of Texas such as Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin Fort Worth, Mc Allen, Plano, Frisco, El Paso, Arlington, Lubbock. Florida is no match to Texas in no way whatsoever if we want to be real about it. Further more life is cheaper in Texas. Life is almost impossible in certain parts of Florida, too expensive.

It sounds like Texas has high wages, right out of school and lower cost of living in general. Where is Florida? You get hit with a one two punch, hi cost-of-living and extremely low starting salaries and median average salaries. As one person put it on a blog you just work to serve capital in Florida. No thanks, I really want to move to Florida. I just shouldn’t have to pay twice, once on the high cost of living and take it on the chin in salary. Florida has the weather unfortunately if it doesn’t fix its economy and out of control insurancemarket for auto and home, it’s going to turn into a hell hole. I think the Florida governor really needs to have a laser focus on the insurance market and starting wages for professionals. Failure attend to this will mean failure for the state long-term.

Ok, I will be less bias. If I am young in my 30s with a great job, decent money and want to have fun, or very old and want to retire I may chose FL. For anything else I would chose Texas if I want a nice life in peace, career opportunities, raise a family and leave large at a lower cost. Personally I prefer Texas although I am Ok with FL.

I call Houston a low cost, widespread better NY. Dallas a more affordable, less flashy Los Angeles. Austin a more Affordable San Francisco. Overall Dallas has more to offer

First of all Texas is 385% times bigger than Florida with plenty of opportunities and bigger major cities and job opportunities thna FL. Texas has over 97 fortune 1000 companies and over 55 fortune 500 companies with lower cost of living. On top of that everything is bigger in Texas. I rest my case.

Personally…neither. Both are too hot. Lack of seasons. And no mountains. Not to mention both aren’t exactly welcoming to liberal thinking people. (Orlando & Austin are exceptions)
I think this video could have been really helpful but ultimately it was extremely vague and didn’t really answer any in depth questions on either state. It seemed almost like an AI video. I mean you’re comparing economies to both states by their university prices and not by their industries or salaries?
Plus this video is crazy lol. Dude really name dropped Ocala. That’s the 1st time I ever heard anybody drop Ocala in a video 😂.And dude left out major cities like Houston, Miami, Jacksonville, etc. And Hurricanes affect both states last I checked lol. Just redo the whole video over again 😂
