First off, thank ya'll so much for much for making the listening of these so entertaining. From the frustrations of Monty to trying to understand the series, to Neill learning to just embrace the chaos, and finally to Chase for all the hard work in putting these together. I truly appreciate the time and energy y'all have put forth to make this. I really can't wait to hear more of Lore Dump and to enjoy everything ya'll have to offer.
This just hit me right now as I’m watching for like the third time. Chase mentioned during the Union X video that he theorizes the way to kill the ancient darknesses is to find a way to truly destroy the heart instead of it returning to Kingdom Hearts. The Master’s entire motivation so far has been completely eradicating the primordial darknesses, and getting to the fictional world. What if the reason he wants to go there (and bring the Foretellers with him, as seen in MoM and the ending of 3) is that the “other side” is where you can experience true death? If a being with a heart dies in a world without kingdom hearts, their heart presumably ceases to exist, so if MoM is looking for a way to completely obliterate a heart, the only way to do so would be to remove Kingdom Hearts from the equation, thus why he wants to take all the Foretellers and their darknesses to Quadratum, where they cannot return to Kingom Hearts. So my theory is that when we see MoM in Quadratum in the Secret Ending holding his hands up to the normal moon, my guess is that he’s probably just like “oh thank god it’s not heart shaped, just checking” because he needs for there to be no Kingdom Hearts.
Favorite moment in the entire franchise: Axel about to fight Xion after she and Roxas are discovering more about the facts of their existence and the tragedies about to befall them which they are trying to deal with. And he tells her something to the effect of "You two think you can just do whatever you want. But I'll always be there to bring you back!" He just wants their good times to last forever and he is feeling his heart return, but those good times are on a hard countdown and none of them can get the peace they really want
I think it would be really cool is Demyx was unknowingly MOM’s Nobody. Like when he left Daybreak town his heart separated from his body behind and the body somehow landed in the future to become Demyx
In terms of Disney Worlds that have never shown up, I'm still annoyed we've not gotten a full Sword in the Stone world, especially when Merlin has been a supporting character in all of the numbered KH games *and* when it gives you the ability to have Arthur pull the sword from the stone and then it turns into a Keyblade. Other than that, Brave would be my next pick.
Okay, so I just finished the Sleeping Realms Theory and no word of a lie, I would LOVE to see you guys do a Lore Dump for that theory. Its very compelling. And its not as long as people think. Yes, it is 483 pages, but the vast majority of that are screenshots or gifs they use to show supporting evidence. Hope you guys re-consider doing a Lore Dump for it. 🏰❤
Another good point about the art in the cover. is all the characters portraits are just relatively standard. All the Sora portraits are Sora from Kairis perspective
Having watched Lore Dump since the first KH video on Monty's channel, I have to say this thought just hit me, in this episode. Lore Dump is everything I miss about the Best Friends Zaibatsu. You guys are chaotic, hilarious and passionate and every episode feels like I'm sitting in the room with you, laughing along. I love your dynamics and the way you engage with the media and I cannot wait to see which game ya'll do next! (Trailer had me super hyped!) Thank you for everything!
Alright now I've recompleted the reupload. And I know y'all weren't planning on it... but Chase if you can convince them(and yourself) watching Monty and Neils brains explode due to the Sleeping realm theory would make my life. But even still thanks for the awesome content. I'm gonna be listing back to these a lot in coming days I can tell.
I've just binged all the entire KH Lore Dump series over the last few days. Thoughts: 1. Thank you, Chase. This is not the first summary of Kingdom Hearts I've heard, but it is the one with the least amount of "Because Nomura!" inherently baked into the explaination. I appreciate that, and you. 2. I'm all in on the VHS theory, and not just because I'm old enough to remember VHS tapes. 3. My current running theory is that Odin BECAME Yen Sid after he retired. 4. I relate to Chase's writing process. Watching all of this is what I've been doing for the past several days instead of writing my own Elden Ring lore series... 5. Re: KH and FFXIV cross-over - Don't send the keyblade babies to Limsa. It is not safe for keyblade babies. You have earned my subscription, you dear scrungly meow meow boys. :)
I have absolutely adored the KH Lore dump series. Chase, thank you so much for making this fun for Monty, Neil, and the audience. You could've easily made these videos shorter by just focusing on essential plot information but you put in the work to properly characterize everyone in the series and really sell the charm and emotion that makes KH so good.
The best evidence for the Re:Wind theory is that in KH1 you play through the Little Mermaid movie, all the the way through to Ursula's death, and then in KH2 you do the same thing but as a musical... For some reason.
Let's not forget Olympus: In KHI: Hercules teaches Sora about a hero not being defined by "the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart", a lesson learned at the very end of the film. This implies that the entirety of Disney's Hercules (1997) has already happened. It tracks, because Hercules is no longer at a hero's journey. In II: Hercules sees the destruction of the Colisseum and loses his will, represented by his skintone going paler, and only gets it back when saving Meg from the Tartarus... which was ITSELF the demonstration of "strength of heart" that lead to him learning what it means to be a hero! But then at the end he says "I'll never forget that again", which can impply that it still alread happened, and this is the modified, KH version of the story. BUT THEN IN III: It shows that Hades "went back to his original plan" to let loose the Titans on Olympus, which in the movie leads to Meg's death and him having to save her, recovering his godhood in the process. So the Kingdom Hearts version is either all out of order, or a completely alternate version unrelated to the movie. But... Hades says in KHIII that he had been waiting 18 years to put his plans in motion. Which means he only ever released the Titans IN KHIII. Even though he had released Stone and Ice Titan as far as KHI! ALSO, that date puts Young BBS Herc at SEVEN YEARS OF AGE. Now the story doesn't work as a sequel because it changes the order of events from the original movie to the time of the game, but it doesn't work as an alternate timeline because the game implies events from the movies as having happened on the past. Don't even get me started on Atlantica.
1:09:52 Good news is that the voice actor for MoM has said that he knows the Master's name and that if we found it out, it wouldn't cause any crazy reactions (i.e., it's not an existing character's name.)
F: Larxene because it'd be awesome to make her submit. M: Luxord because I love games and I feel I could learn a lot from him. K: Saix because of how many times I lost to him in KH2.
Man, going back and listening to all of this for like, the 6th time, I’m starting to understand just how much of a comfort series and channel Lore Dump is for me, and that’s really all thanks to you three (and the Lore Dump community, of course) being amazing. Not to tmi here, but in the interest of context, as an afab, cPTSD-having, pan, poly, neurodivergent, enby, exceedingly mentally ill, 20-crabs-masquerading-as-Jack-Sparrow-in-a-trenchcoat (to be clear, that last bit was a joke in reference to that scene in the Pirates of the Caribbean world in KH3); it really brings me joy and comfort to find a group of dudes on the internet that seem to be actively trying to learn and be better allies to other marginalized people (I say “other” bc I don’t want to assume, like that you’re all straight, cis, white dudes, I feel that’d be rude, but I also don’t want to speculate on that shit bc I think that would also be rude?). To try and explain it another way, there’s not a lot of creators I would feel super comfortable just saying hi or chatting to if I somehow ran into them in the real world, but I feel like, theoretically, I would with y’all? (If it wasn’t made clear by some of my language, I’m from the Southern U.S., so that doesn’t have much of a chance of happening lol.) It’s in the way Monty makes a point to check with Chase on Axel/Lea’s preferred name bc he doesn’t want to dead name him, or at the end of the KH3 Part 2 vid, where Neil takes a moment to really thank and appreciate Chase, Monty, and the audience for all their individual contributions to the KH Lore Dump series in a way that’s just really emotionally intelligent and good, or how Chase clearly has so much love for the characters of KH and isn’t afraid to show that emotion, along with the chaotic queer (? again, not wanting to assume identities here) energy he brings to *literally every Lore Dump video.* It’s in how generally chill and lovely the comment sections of each video are. It’s just. It’s good. It’s good cozy shit. And I deeply appreciate it, bc it’s made me feel good and cozy. So thank you.
@@LoreDump Aw dude, of course! (Edit: It took a literal minute to type it out, it’s absolutely no problem, but I think ‘you’re welcome’ is the way I’m supposed to respond to that? Uh, neurodivergent go brrr ^_^; ) And I’m so glad!! :D Y’all have made my day a fair few times, I’m happy I was able to return the favor, lol
I've sorta had this theory bouncing around in my head for a while now that could explain how Strelitzia gets to Quadratum and why there is a Darkside in the KH4 trailer. First off, I think Chase is bang on the money with why the Darkside is there. It manifests because the Lost Masters are in this world of Unreality, thus bringing the darkness with them. Perhaps the darkness escapes their heart when they first crossed over if we go with the theory that hearts don't work the same in the world of fiction. As for how Strelitzia got there, remember in Union X when we see the white robed figure with red hair which is presumably a data backup of Strelitzia? Well we see that figure walking with Luxu at one point, and then later we see Luxu put the figure in a pod and send her off, saying that she is a "seed of light for the future, the one true dandelion". Remember how in Melody of Memory apprentice Xehanort tells the young Kairi that, using the Ark, it was possible she would end up on the other side of reality? I think that's what Luxu was counting on when he sent the robed figure along in the pod. He wanted to seed light in the future of Quadratum. Now does that mean Strelitzia in the KH4 trailer is truly her in her own body? Or is she a data version of the true Strelitzia that died during Union X? I genuinely don't know, but Monty's data theory might have been a bit more realistic than Chase and Neil gave him credit for😅 Also the driver for Yozora is 100% Luxord because he does look like him, and also it is the exact same voice actor!
(Reposting my comments over here to add some interaction for the new uploads! Or however the hell TH-cam works, I doubt even TH-cam knows) I stumbled onto this channel because-and the irony isn’t lost on me-I think I was going down a rabbit hole of games with strong themes, and on this channel the critiques and politics of the Bioshock series specifically was SO good that I subscribed. Right after, one of these more recent KH Lore Dump videos was uploaded, and I went back to the start of the series to give it a shot. (An aside: as someone who adored Infinite for how it incorporated and expanded upon details of quantum mechanics and thought experiments, jumping then directly to KH and time travel and paradox handwaving was… a ride) This made me fall in love with Kingdom Hearts and all its ridiculous bullshit and wonderful characters all over again. I played the very first game when I was in the single-digits, and it’s been a deeply-woven part of my life for decades. (Shout-out to the original Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and its pixel art for creating a sort of haunting, confusing version of familiar worlds and being way cooler than the PS2 (PS3? I can’t remember) remaster, apparently). But I was so sad that I just wasn’t connecting with KH3 like I had the other games, the Disney bullshit slog was too much to trod through and I thought that was it, I must’ve fallen out of love with the series. But watching this made me feel like a kid again, saving up my allowance to go to the supermarket to buy as many gaming magazines covering the upcoming KH2 release that I could get my grubby little hands on, downloading a skeevy rip of the full Sanctuary AMV to my bulky-ass family desktop computer and sneaking down late at night to watch it over and over to catch small details. I’m so, so, so excited to be sucked back into this ridiculous and brilliant clusterfuck of a series. I’m not sure if you guys will make it through this mess of a comment, but I just wanted to say: thank you so much for the insane amount of work this series has taken you all. It’s made my incredibly shitty year so much better. And I’m so excited for future uploads of all sorts to come. (Also Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is completely amazing, I totally agree)
i have always been on and off with kingdom hearts. i grew up with kh1 and 2, but was never a giant fan. i greatly respected the series but could never really dive deeper because of how convoluted the series seemed to me without proper explanation. it wasn't until a few years ago that i deeped deeper into it and became a good fan of it, but not totally invested. it wasn't until i binged this entire lore dump series of videos at the wee hours of work that (pun intended) unlocked my heart to the miracle and magic of this emotionally compelling series and present day kingdom hearts is one of my favorite series EVER. thank you chase, monty, and neil for taking me on this amazing and fun journey and helping inform me on this incredible video game franchise. i hope one day you guys can tackle some other big series i hold dear to my heart such as the castlevania and mega man series. thank you all for this awesome lore dump and i will be watching all of your future content!!!!!!! may your heart be your guiding key! ❤️
Discovered this series on Monday and binged the entire thing during evenings throughout the week. Absolutely lovely and enjoyable. As a long time KH fan it was an absolute pleasure to listen to you discover and react the unfolding madness which is Kingdom Hearts. Great job, and I look forward to what comes next (whenever that may come).
finally got around to finishing rewatching all the re-uploads!! also just wanted to say that the hand drawn art you guys appreciate is actually drawn by Nomura himself! that includes a lot of the FFVII art as well :)
I know I'm about a year behind but man I beyond loved this whole series I've played these games since I was little and I've learned so much from yall. I really really hope yall do more KH content in the future. Even just sit around and shoot some throrys around I'd love it so much
I've watched through the series twice now and I want to say thank you Chase for writing it and thank you Monty and Neill for making it through! This is the perfect series to listen to while I work. Also a huge fan of the Remedyverse series. Alan Wake is my favorite and I'm so excited for 2! Did you see Ahti doing some karaoke in the game play showcase??
I absolutely loved this lore dump series on kingdom hearts, to me it's the definitive series on the games. Thank you guys for all these hours of content on this series
Just revisited the entire kh series through these videos. All I can say is that, it made me run through a CoM which tired me out. Which lead me to a DDD, which I didn't appreciate until my BBS, but stuck with me for 358/2 DAYS (I'm still not sure). All I can say is that when it came to the Union X it took me down a disappointingly Dark Road. In the end, 3 days later, it reminded me that Memory of Melody makes it easier to put it in order. (P.S. Coded ads FA)
I do think if Xehanort is coming back. That he would be replacing Ava if she’s revealed to be dead. 4 pieces were locked in the world of data, the 5th piece merged with ventus and as a result created Vanitas and the 6th one was the only one that managed to escape when maleficent was in the data realm looking for a way out. Remember we don’t really know what Luxu did to the other primordial darkness piece. For all we know he could have been waiting for the opportune moment to transfer it to a strong enough vessel.
Just wanted you lads to know you've given me wondrous hours of joy.I bought and am replaying through the entire series (because I hate myself.) Please continue, I'm excited for KH4 and Missing Link, and I've become a fan of the channel just from this series. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Someone please remind that Larxene is just the freaking worst.
A year or so late, I'd like to provide my own Disney World Timeline shenanigans. It is my belief that the Disney worlds work on a QUANTUM level where the point they are at in the story directly correlates with The relationship the visiting person has with the world. By which I mean if the visiting person(s) know particular characters in the world's, or if they do not. This explains a lot of things, why the story seems to be going over again and again, but only for different characters. Sora doesn't witness the trial in wonderland more than once (outside of the stuff in castle oblivion, which I think we can all agree doesn't count). We also can assume that if two characters are closely connected, they might go to the same version of the same world, where their friends have meddled with the story. Which would explain how Aqua/Ven/Terra went to the same worlds as eachother. And also how when Sora returns to worlds like hercules and Little mermaid the characters remember him This can also explain the issue with Beast/man's castle and Sora in KH2. Because Sora boy... Well... His memories aren't perfect in KH2, and memories are who you are. And Beast and Belle may REMEMBER him, but they might not remember him EXACTLY, which would put the world in a slightly different quantum state than it was before, and also explain how Roxas saw B&B fall in love, but that plot not have happened yet for Sora. I'm suggesting, basically, that the Disney worlds aren't a simple timeline... More that you have an infinite number of tv channels playing the Disney shows at different times, with slight differences, and Mickey Mouse is sitting on the damn Remote changing the channels to whatever will best fit the story that Sora needs to see.
Quick thought on the Disney worlds time issue: who says Mickey's remote just has a rewind button? It could have a pause button, a fast forward button, a record button so Mickey can save things for his collection. "Huhhuhuh, bored with that *zwip*", "Huhhuhuh, no resolution for you *pause*", "Huhhuhuh, saving that for later". That could give the impression of time dilation, we never see what's happening in a Disney world when there isn't a pov character there.
my understanding of the dark road "disney world time nonsense" was that the disney worlds DID get a bit of the VHS rewinding treatment. maybe its apt to say that chunks of the film are missing since the worlds fell apart, and I understood what Eraqus said to mean something like "they keep pausing or rewinding over and over until the world is normal again, people and all". "Time flows differently" doesn't just mean forward, I think 😅 Slow time flow can be part of it! But I think that its more that time is glitchy and irregular until the worlds are able to unify properly. Olympus is a great example of a world that was able to heal to the point of moving forward much more imo
God, this has been a journey and a fun adventure! I was pleasantly surprised to find this series since I found Monty first through the Somas critique then got the lore dump for RDR2 which Neil did a phenomenal job and honestly captured the heart of RDR2. I know one of my friends who is really into Kingdom Hearts and I can hopefully say I can talk about it now to her!! Regardless, love lore dump, love that absolute love you bring to these games and how you guys bounce off of each other. Im so excited to see Kingdom hearts in the future and others
Melody of Memory would be so much more replayable if you could customize your team and unlock costumes for each character. I'd probably still be playing it to this day if I could make a party with sorcerer mickey, halloweentown aqua, and toy roxas.
I keep forgetting to mention that the avatars for this series have been gorgeous. Monty somehow made a forward facing beak part of the art style but also not horrifying.
Man's Castle in Union Cross is where it gets a hell of a lot more complicated for the Disney timeline, as Gaston is trying to kill the Man in that game, dies stabbing the Man, and then the Man goes back to normal. HOW THE FUCK DID THE ENTIRE BEAUTY AND THE MAN PLOT RESET IN A SNAP?
Welp, made it back through all of these reuploads, so here's an algorithm boosting comment. I should probably watch some of the other lore dump series, but the one I'm most interested in is MGS, which has been on my to play list for years, and I feel like I should probably play the games first. Never played beyond 2, and now it means going back to the PS3.
I’m sure it’s been said already, but in regards to man’s castle and beast’s behavior Beast and bell were close but Xaldin stepped in and started twisting his heart with darkness, beast became scared he might hurt his friends so he isolated himself. It could be a full year of Xaldin manipulation
Hi, finally getting around to rebinging this series on this channel. It's been an absolute joy experiencing this journey again. I have a few thoughts coming out of this series I wanted to share real quick: 1) Someone else said it in the comments, but I can see a world where Master Odin is revealed to be Yensid. Nothing else to add, just saying that y'all may be seeing a similarity there for a reason 2) My brain, once the explanation of time traveling to the past happened early on, assumed that the way the Disney Worlds VHS’ were rewound is by every person’s in that worlds hearts going back in time into their bodies at the start of the story, losing their memory of what happened, hence why everything resets. Why they time travel so often, who knows, it's just my thoughts. Maybe an after effect of the battle with Darkness done by Sora and gang (or whoever) after the player leaves the world?? And finally 3) Shag Marluxia (I'm a theater kid, I'm into dramatic guys what can I say), Marry Axel (of course), and Kill…idk man, Demyx? Mostly because I forget he's there half the time lol Oh and, I would love a bonus Dream Theory Lore Dump episode. Thank you guys for releasing such great content
My take is that "the world of fiction", that even Master of Masters "can't concieve" is his "original" world... after his death/disappearance. This is the only world that MoM hasn't "made" himself and can't imagine (make real) - it's, you could say, out of his influence. Controlled neither by "light" (MoM) or "darkness". Also, this makes sense in context of a place where poeple from "Mom's created universe" go after death - to the world without Masters of Masters, their "creator"
K: Xaldin, Xaldin is an absolute throw away worthless character. Marry: Axel, if Axel can love me anywhere near as much as he loves Roxas and Xion I'll ride or die with him. Shag: _Zexion_ Okay here me out, Zexion is a master of ILLUSIONS! Do you know how busted that is in shag-scaling?? Thats an SSS-tier ability, he can be literally anything you want him to be! (Ontop of being pretty in base form) He can be your favorite waifu, or husbando or what ever weird kink you're into!
I've been curious about Kingdom Hearts for years, and this series finally got me to try it. I'm about 7 hours into the first game and am finding that it does feel dated and a bit like a slog, but I'm very excited to try out KH2 (and the rest of the series as well).
I dont think the world stories actually repeat exactly. Nor do they move at different paces. For example: Kh1 agrabah was based on the first film and kh2 was based on the sequel. Neverland in kh1, bbs and days all had distinctly different plots happening (which were kinda snippets from the main story spread out). When stories repeat its been in memories or data worlds. UX was based on holograms of the future. The only one which i cant explain is dark road which supposedly was MX and co travelling around worlds in real time, although i dont think much disney plot was actually happening in those worlds. The beast castle plot doesnt exactly happen out of order. Xaldin was planting seeds of doubt and darkness which was making beast regress to his angry state. I will admit though theres a couple of exceptions which require explanation such as atlantica story beats being the same and The fact that donald and goofy who had been to yen sids tower in bbs didnt recognise it in kh2. I wish the disney worlds were more relevant and the disney characters interacted more in the main plot. My wish would be some disney characters met in the game would have helped in the keyblade graveyard in kh3
Can we all agree that Kingdom Hearts (i almost want to say Square but i am not convinced of that. Kage though 100%) was the blueprint for what would become the Marvel/Disney cinematic universe and business practice concerning their IP's? (think about it) I can't wait til it's Neil's turn and Monty and Chase give him a taste of the team snark. :) Also Is there a chance that after doing a series or universe that you guys could go a break podcast where you guys could just chat or possibly Q&A?'s I just absolutely love all 3 of you and your energy is so much fun to listen to. Like a palate cleanser you know? Which might actually be a good thing for you guys, also. lol
And with that, I am now done. This was a blast! I loved watching/listening to this, these past couple of days! Can't wait for the Missing Links and KH4 episodes in 20XX! Also because Chase mentioned it! The total runtime for the entire KH Lore Dump series is - 1 day, 9 hours, 58 minutes, 52 seconds. Need to play Alan Wake and beat Control now. BTW marry Demyx (he's a dork and lovely, plus that hair and he plays sitar!), fuck Saïx (mainly because it sounds like a southern person saying sex) and IDK kill Dark Riku because who cares about him.
1:12:55 it's interesting that xehanort's eyes aren't yellow and his ears are normal here like they were in dark road, and i can only assume he's back to being jacked as hell under that jacket. so which xehanort is this?? who are you!! what timeline are you from!!! god i both love and hate him, he's a compelling antagonist but he's also literally 50 time travelling selves in an trenchcoat and i swear i can feel myself edging closer to an aneurysm every time i think about it. 1:36:03 personally, one of the things i'd love to see in the future of kingdom hearts is, if xehanort does return in quadratum, having him treat sora as something like a successor. with the chosen child parallels, sora's relationship to ventus, and what could arguably be seen as xehanort bequeathing sora a keyblade in kh3 the way aqua and terra did to kairi and riku... idk, i just think it'd be neat to see him to become a more positive guiding force now that he's presumably a little less concerned with finger waggling his way into possessing other people's hearts. redemption is an important theme in the series and i'd like to see it further explored with a less fanatical xehanort. it'd also be a really interesting way for sora to potentially achieve his mark of mastery.
breaking this into two comments because i'm insufferable and long winded: as y'all can probably tell based on my recent comment history, i've been binging lore dump as i do chores and crafts, and it's been a fantastic time. i love all of the games that have been featured so far, but kingdom hearts is a really special series to me. i grew up with it. it was one of the first games i ever beat all of the way through. i spent a summer doing odd jobs to afford a gba to play chain of memories. sora and riku behave in a way that is so antithetical to heterosexuality that my dumb child brain, indoctrinated with catholic school bigotry, went 'huh, that's kind of gay. wait. am i gay???' (the answer was yes.) but as an adult, i played kingdom hearts iii and re:mind after waiting years and years and years, and i felt very little. at the time i thought maybe i'd just outgrown a franchise that, while important to me, is meant to appeal to a general audience of kids and teenagers, or that i'd gotten to a point in my life where i couldn't tolerate the way nomura writes. but hearing the delight in chase's voice as he weaved a summary of the series' history with neil and monty becoming increasingly emotionally invested, it really helped me remember why i love kingdom hearts and its characters. honestly i think i was looking for something in 3 that just wasn't there and was never going to be there, with those years of waiting allowing for completely unrealistic expectations to fester. because i had grown up while waiting for it, i had inadvertently given myself the idea that the series would become more adult along with me, but that isn't what kingdom hearts is meant to be. it was unfair to the game and a disservice to my own experience with it. when i've got time, i'm going to replay the old titles and then revisit kh3 with fresh(ish) eyes. cheers, fellas.
also S: larxene is objectively the correct choice, i will not be taking feedback. M: axel. idk how else to put this, but the man has big wife guy energy. K: vexen. i don't care if he had a redemption arc, i had to fight him in chain of memories for the gba and it was one of the most hellish gaming experiences i have ever had. i loathe this man. i wish him nothing but the worst in both his personal and professional life. may his lab equipment give inconsistent results forever and ever, amen.
So VHS theory. I love it. And it's provable in Dark Road. in that game Xehanort and Co. go through Disney worlds, and in the Dwarf Woodlands they come across the dwarves, who I believe don't know Snow White. The Evil Queen still asks the mirror about who is fairest, and many of the early in the movie things happen. Then, explain to me why about 50 years later, Terra, Aqua, and Ven go through those SAME worlds, and experience these plots in full, right down to the Face boss fight that the Evil Queen should know doesn't work against Keyblade wielders. When Ven meets the Dwarves they don't know Snow White. I think the only world with continuity AT ALL is Disney Castle/Disney Town, as shown by the Cornerstone in KH2. And then in KH1 Belle shows up in her yellow ball gown, implying that she and the Beast have gone through most of their plot, up to the night of their ball. But when you go back in KH2, OVER A YEAR LATER- they haven't even gotten to that yet, and that scene happens when you clear the world the first time. It's my HC that back in Union X time the world experienced full continuity together, but maybe at a slowed rate. Like not every Disney movie plot plays out all at the same time, but that more or less it follows where each story takes place in relation to our history. So when the Keyblade War splits the worlds they get frozen, stuck almost, playing through their individual plots over and over because there's no "crossovers" anymore to make things interesting and actually change history. This explains why no one ever knows what Keyblades are despite millenia of history of keyblade wielders. Part of "World Order" is not introducing too much of the other worlds so that the rewinding schedule doesn't get messed up, and the biggest mess up of that is Maleficent. It makes more sense than "time dilation" bc how do you explain how quickly the worlds run in BBS. Terra, Aqua, and Ven get to these worlds within half an hour of each other by their reckoning. I'll give you a little bit, bc it seems like hours, maybe two days tops happen in the Disney worlds if you count Dwarf Woodlands when Aqua gets there last. Cinderella's world happens over the course of one day, twelve hours TOPS, even for all three characters. As Ven you help finish the dress, as Terra you escort her, and when Aqua gets there that night- bc its STILL NIGHT- the Prince and his man are looking for her. If the worlds run even a quarter as slow as non-Disney worlds they've repeated their stories hundreds of times across the histories of the world, if three Keyblade wielders can get through most of the plot of one in a single day.
If you gents think something as straight-forward and simple as the Kingdom Hearts series was this much of a struggle, you should do an episode or two on the Drakengard/NieR series.
I was thinking about your whole rewind thing and while yes some things make sense some don't within the games timelines yes but that's not explained by time going slow either. So I actually had a thought. Say that the world's heart is to blame. Think of it like this. All the characters that lost their worlds like Beast, Mushu, Simba, Genie, all of them met Sora in KH1 right? As summons and beast for real but we know all those summons are canon as they remember him but if we remember, the characters don't remember Sora right away as they need to be reminded of him. It's not because of the memory magic from Namine since the FF characters don't have that either they remember him once he wakes up in KH2. Why do the disney characters struggle to remember? It's the World's heart messing with their heart. The world's heart remembering certain keyblade wielders and changing the world to match THEIR memories and not it's own would explain everything. Why does Beast's and Belle's stories finish in 358 and yet keeps going in 2? Sora never remembered seeing an ending to their story so when he arrives the World reacts and puts the two back in a spot that he would remember. Same goes for Ariel. He never met her as a human princess so her summon in 3 calls out to her as a mermaid though we know she did get her happily ever after. Also we know for sure the Disney Sequels are in fact canon as Aladdin shows, so certain worlds would likely go on naturally and yes likely reset eventually but also if someone like Sora visited then the world would completely change where everyone is once he arrived to match his memories.
Chase has said it's definitely on the cards - just not for a while yet. He's got a new series he's eyeing up while we wait for more Kingdom Hearts stuff! - Monty
21:10 You know, it REALLY pisses me off that Kairi transformed into sora AND THEN HE beat Xehanort, its like, they cant give Kairi ANYTHING to do for herself, she will forever be a damsel in distress and it just seems deliberate. I'm not one to claim and yell sexism, but like, this IS SEXISM, they arent letting the female characters do ANYTHING of substance, especially kairu, for over 20 YEARS!! WHAT THE FUCCCCCC. the writing infuriates me at times. and I dont know if im gonna buy kh4 now
I REALLY don't think it's sexism though, I mean literally every main female character other than Kairi has far more agency and they're actually some of the best written characters in the games. It's really only Kairi that doesn't get to do anything.
@@oblivi8games808 Yeah true, personally I think Xion is the best written female character. I guess my issue is that all these characters start out good, but then they don’t get anything to do later that uses their various tools are traits as characters. In Kh3 for example, a lot of the characters just stand around.
*DISCLAIMER*
Thanks for being here! This episode is a reupload, transferring our backlog of Lore Dumps from the Monty Zander youtube channel.
I think about "after all, who could love a man?" every single day
Might be the funniest moment of the whole series- Neil
After bingeing the entire Lore dump catalogue whilst playing through person 5 again, my dreams have gotten real wild, 10/10 would do again!
Favorite moment in the entire franchise:
Axel about to fight Xion after she and Roxas are discovering more about the facts of their existence and the tragedies about to befall them which they are trying to deal with. And he tells her something to the effect of "You two think you can just do whatever you want. But I'll always be there to bring you back!" He just wants their good times to last forever and he is feeling his heart return, but those good times are on a hard countdown and none of them can get the peace they really want
That is a good one tbf. Most of the events around that trio are.
I think it would be really cool is Demyx was unknowingly MOM’s Nobody. Like when he left Daybreak town his heart separated from his body behind and the body somehow landed in the future to become Demyx
when you realise the entire KH explained video series took up a total of ~30 HOURS. Fucking hell, Nomura
Jungle book has to be the biggest yet to make it into KH. I know it came close before as well.
(Trailer had me super hyped!)
Thank you for everything!
I'd give my left nut for them to cover the sleeping realm theory lol
I've just binged all the entire KH Lore Dump series over the last few days. Thoughts:
"Do we have fans?" So modest, SNORT THE NORT!
Let's not forget Olympus:
In KHI: Hercules teaches Sora about a hero not being defined by "the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart", a lesson learned at the very end of the film.
(If it wasn’t made clear by some of my language, I’m from the Southern U.S., so that doesn’t have much of a chance of happening lol.)
It’s in the way Monty makes a point to check with Chase on Axel/Lea’s preferred name bc he doesn’t want to dead name him, or at the end of the KH3 Part 2 vid, where Neil takes a moment to really thank and appreciate Chase, Monty, and the audience for all their individual contributions to the KH Lore Dump series in a way that’s just really emotionally intelligent and good, or how Chase clearly has so much love for the characters of KH and isn’t afraid to show that emotion, along with the chaotic queer (? again, not wanting to assume identities here) energy he brings to *literally every Lore Dump video.* It’s in how generally chill and lovely the comment sections of each video are.
It’s just. It’s good. It’s good cozy shit. And I deeply appreciate it, bc it’s made me feel good and cozy.
So thank you.
This comment actually made my day, thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us- Neil
I genuinely don't know, but Monty's data theory might have been a bit more realistic than Chase and Neil gave him credit for😅
Also the driver for Yozora is 100% Luxord because he does look like him, and also it is the exact same voice actor!
(Reposting my comments over here to add some interaction for the new uploads! Or however the hell TH-cam works, I doubt even TH-cam knows)
I stumbled onto this channel because-and the irony isn’t lost on me-I think I was going down a rabbit hole of games with strong themes, and on this channel the critiques and politics of the Bioshock series specifically was SO good that I subscribed. Right after, one of these more recent KH Lore Dump videos was uploaded, and I went back to the start of the series to give it a shot. (An aside: as someone who adored Infinite for how it incorporated and expanded upon details of quantum mechanics and thought experiments, jumping then directly to KH and time travel and paradox handwaving was… a ride)
This made me fall in love with Kingdom Hearts and all its ridiculous bullshit and wonderful characters all over again.
During the nightshift in a deadend job its so nice listening to these dudes laughing. :)
And also how when Sora returns to worlds like hercules and Little mermaid the characters remember him
This can also explain the issue with Beast/man's castle and Sora in KH2.
If the post-Foreteller Union Leader were to appear,it would likely be in a 358/2 or Birth By Sleep style side game
I have to say thank you for making my last work week much more bareable.
God, could you *imagine* the chaos of Emet-Selch and MoM sharing a scene together
I’m sure it’s been said already, but in regards to man’s castle and beast’s behavior
Beast and bell were close but Xaldin stepped in and started twisting his heart with darkness, beast became scared he might hurt his friends so he isolated himself. It could be a full year of Xaldin manipulation
I definitely read the ancient masters left for a new world as him referencing Ephemer and friends leaving the data realm/Daybreak Town
Hi, finally getting around to rebinging this series on this channel. It's been an absolute joy experiencing this journey again. I have a few thoughts coming out of this series I wanted to share real quick:
1) Someone else said it in the comments, but I can see a world where Master Odin is revealed to be Yensid. Nothing else to add, just saying that y'all may be seeing a similarity there for a reason
2) My brain, once the explanation of time traveling to the past happened early on, assumed that the way the Disney Worlds VHS’ were rewound is by every person’s in that worlds hearts going back in time into their bodies at the start of the story, losing their memory of what happened, hence why everything resets.
Mostly because I forget he's there half the time lol
Oh and, I would love a bonus Dream Theory Lore Dump episode. Thank you guys for releasing such great content
Thanks for the ride, lads. I just chugged this entire channel in a week because I'm so enamored with what you're doing here. Here's to great 2023.
Oh boy! New Channel smell~
K: Xaldin, Xaldin is an absolute throw away worthless character.
Marry: Axel, if Axel can love me anywhere near as much as he loves Roxas and Xion I'll ride or die with him.
Shag: _Zexion_
Okay here me out, Zexion is a master of ILLUSIONS! Do you know how busted that is in shag-scaling?? Thats an SSS-tier ability, he can be literally anything you want him to be! (Ontop of being pretty in base form)
He can be your favorite waifu, or husbando or what ever weird kink you're into!
Reveangence Lore Dump hyyyyyyyype!
What an awesome series. Thank you all so much
I've been curious about Kingdom Hearts for years, and this series finally got me to try it.
This is mental that it’s over. It’s finally over. 😂😂😂 watched all of them
Can we all agree that Kingdom Hearts (i almost want to say Square but i am not convinced of that. Kage though 100%)
was the blueprint for what would become the Marvel/Disney cinematic universe and business practice concerning their IP's? (think about it)
I can't wait til it's Neil's turn and Monty and Chase give him a taste of the team snark. :)
Also Is there a chance that after doing a series or universe that you guys could go a break podcast where you guys could just chat or possibly Q&A?'s I just absolutely love all 3 of you and your energy is so much fun to listen to. Like a palate cleanser you know? Which might actually be a good thing for you guys, also. lol
I just found this series and finished it in 4 days. I know far too much about Kingdom Hearts. Great series and i cant wait for the next games!
Also, its been a while, I hope Monty had a good wedding 😊
1:12:55 it's interesting that xehanort's eyes aren't yellow and his ears are normal here like they were in dark road, and i can only assume he's back to being jacked as hell under that jacket. so which xehanort is this?? who are you!! what timeline are you from!!! god i both love and hate him, he's a compelling antagonist but he's also literally 50 time travelling selves in an trenchcoat and i swear i can feel myself edging closer to an aneurysm every time i think about it.
1:36:03 personally, one of the things i'd love to see in the future of kingdom hearts is, if xehanort does return in quadratum, having him treat sora as something like a successor. with the chosen child parallels, sora's relationship to ventus, and what could arguably be seen as xehanort bequeathing sora a keyblade in kh3 the way aqua and terra did to kairi and riku... idk, i just think it'd be neat to see him to become a more positive guiding force now that he's presumably a little less concerned with finger waggling his way into possessing other people's hearts. redemption is an important theme in the series and i'd like to see it further explored with a less fanatical xehanort. it'd also be a really interesting way for sora to potentially achieve his mark of mastery.
breaking this into two comments because i'm insufferable and long winded: as y'all can probably tell based on my recent comment history, i've been binging lore dump as i do chores and crafts, and it's been a fantastic time. i love all of the games that have been featured so far, but kingdom hearts is a really special series to me. i grew up with it. it was one of the first games i ever beat all of the way through. i spent a summer doing odd jobs to afford a gba to play chain of memories. sora and riku behave in a way that is so antithetical to heterosexuality that my dumb child brain, indoctrinated with catholic school bigotry, went 'huh, that's kind of gay. wait. am i gay???' (the answer was yes.)
but as an adult, i played kingdom hearts iii and re:mind after waiting years and years and years, and i felt very little. at the time i thought maybe i'd just outgrown a franchise that, while important to me, is meant to appeal to a general audience of kids and teenagers, or that i'd gotten to a point in my life where i couldn't tolerate the way nomura writes. but hearing the delight in chase's voice as he weaved a summary of the series' history with neil and monty becoming increasingly emotionally invested, it really helped me remember why i love kingdom hearts and its characters.
honestly i think i was looking for something in 3 that just wasn't there and was never going to be there, with those years of waiting allowing for completely unrealistic expectations to fester. because i had grown up while waiting for it, i had inadvertently given myself the idea that the series would become more adult along with me, but that isn't what kingdom hearts is meant to be. it was unfair to the game and a disservice to my own experience with it. when i've got time, i'm going to replay the old titles and then revisit kh3 with fresh(ish) eyes. cheers, fellas.

S: larxene is objectively the correct choice, i will not be taking feedback.
M: axel. idk how else to put this, but the man has big wife guy energy.
K: vexen. i don't care if he had a redemption arc, i had to fight him in chain of memories for the gba and it was one of the most hellish gaming experiences i have ever had. i loathe this man. i wish him nothing but the worst in both his personal and professional life. may his lab equipment give inconsistent results forever and ever, amen.
1:51:41 "While Chase Re:Covers" 😂😂😂
RIP Missing Link you'll live on forever in our hearts because I can only assume the project was abandoned😂
They're literally beta testing as we speak.
Fun Fact: Yen Sid has book of prophesies.
Thank you for explaining the story. It still doesn’t explain why Carri is goddamn useless.
How about chase doing Final Fantasy
If you gents think something as straight-forward and simple as the Kingdom Hearts series was this much of a struggle, you should do an episode or two on the Drakengard/NieR series.
1:15:30 - I'm not gay but this wakes some primordial desire in me xD

Do you think you'd ever do a twewy lore dump considering the links to kh4
Chase has said it's definitely on the cards - just not for a while yet. He's got a new series he's eyeing up while we wait for more Kingdom Hearts stuff! - Monty
S: Larxene (No need to explain)
M: Xion (Best of the 3 Kari's)
K: Marluxia (F*** him in KH2 bonus boss fights)
These are the comments we want. TAKE NOTE EVERYONE
Drakengard x KH is absolutely cursed Big no-no, did you forget what happens to children in that world lol, Nier x KH on the other hand would be cool.
What is this??
A wild Neil appeared!
Neil's icon is the Donald controller? Monty, Chase, hide the keys whenever you're recording.

What are the chances that Ansem the wise is the Mom
Ansem is the heartless with the knowledge and demyx being the silly goofy guy nobody
I wonder if y'all watched Kingdom Hearts Re:Translated. It's really funny and would love to see your reactions
We already have a Marvel world in KH3, Big Hero 6 is a Marvel property
Sleeping Worlds theory?
I bet the MOM is Diz,/ Ansem the wise
Let Sora meet Yshtolla 😍
Do a god of war lore dump! Or resident evil
