I think if his Dad left an imprint so only his son/daughter [you] DNA can activate the purifier. That wouldve made perfect sense honestly so not everyone would be so pissed about this "Only you can die for us, not even Fawkes will do it"

Glass offers little protection against radiation, i taught that in radiation based world they would be aware of that. And why in the holy name of God would you make main chambers of "Project Purity" with that big of a windows, isn't that structural weakness? And what about exterior effect, they had to have contingencies in place you know in case of unforeseen events, like radiation, the shit you are trying to filter/scrub. It's no wonder main characters keep dying in this game things are so ill-organised
There is a difference between true sacrifice and suicide. One thing is to give your life because there was no other option, and with your sacrifice, you saved milions. Other one is to litterally commit suicide when you can send someone immune to radiation (ghoul, supermutant, robot) and have the same result with no one suffering from radiation poisoning

There is a difference between true sacrifice and suicide. One thing is to give your life because there was no other option, and with your sacrifice, you saved milions. Other one is to litterally commit suicide when you can send someone immune to radiation (ghoul, supermutant, robot) and have the same result with no one suffering from radiation poisoning

It requires the Broken Steel DLC to give you the option to let Fawkes turn on the purifier and to let you still roam after the end.

In Broken Steel if Dogmeat is your companion when you go to sacrifice yourself to turn on the purifier; you can tell Dogmeat your goodbye's and that you may never see him again.

I always thought it was stupid of the game to call fawkes the “true hero” by send him in there just for making the most logical decision, do they think you dying for no reason would be better than no one dying?

Autumn wasn't even that bad, If he worked with autumn they would have simply used the water to win over public support and hand it out (no the enclave didn't want genocide, it was eden who wanted that, why do you think they turn on you and why would eden trust YOU rather then having it verti-bird over and done instantly
