    20 softail here. Bought 2 weeks ago with 102 miles. I have a metal gas cap fyi. I like what you've done with yours. Had a ton of bikes in 62 yrs, this is my favorite by a mile. Gobs of power, eats up the bumps and not a lot of fluff. Fwd controls went on 1st week, $550 and 2 hrs to install. Be safe brother.

    I dropped my 23 street bob the first day I got it in my garage due to that pos kickstand l was very lucky didn’t dent or scratch anything or break anything,definitely always being extra careful every time I put it down now.

    @grimshadow4929 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't know if you're still reading these comments but that kickstand falls over just a little extra into a locked position so your bike won't fall over forward if you look underneath you'll see it's notched for that reason

  • @Andy_FXBB
    @Andy_FXBB 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The kickstand is a new design. When it’s down and weight of the bike is on it, it’s locked in place, so if the bike moves on a slight incline it won’t fold under.

    I wonder what the considerations are for single disc vs two as a manufacturer. Cost per unit? Handling of particular models?

    The title had me ready to click dislike because I love the street bob, but then I listened to your criticisms. Seat, throttle lag, lack of dual front disk brake, plastic gas cap, awkward kickstand- they are all valid! Nicely presented. Subscribed.

    Good video forsure. Kick stand is ass, seat is super ass. Mid controls are also another thing that need changed almost immediately. Don't know if this was just my bike or if others have had the issue, but I blew a fork seal sub 3,000 miles which is insane for casual riding.

    • @MudpieCaviar
      @MudpieCaviar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Darth, personally a first bike should be something a little lighter and maybe not so $$😂. While you are learning almost everyone will drop the bike at some point... I dropped mine.
      On the other hand, the Street bob is a great bike, easy to ride and manage. If you really wanted a cruiser for your first bike, maybe the iron 883/1200 or even Honda make more affordable options. Second hand market is huge. Hope that helps 👍

    All these things you mentioned (except the suspension and stand) are meant to be changed...No one rides these as they come from the showroom, it should go straight from the dealer to your garage where it stays till you've finished all the mods, Stage one/Bars/Forward controls/Seat etc thats why they are cheap, your better of with the standard cos your gonna rip it to pieces anyway, the front suspension is bit hard but it makes the bike handle fantastic on bends and quick manoeuvres (Cars pulling out) So i'm happy to trade comfort vs a crash.

    I just bought a 2020 Softail Standard, can't say I notice any throttle lag, but it does have a screamin eagle stage 1 setup, pro street tuner and all. If anything, my throttle feels like an on and off switch. Not much linearity off idle, kinda just nothing and then everything all at once. Scared the shit out of me more than once.
    The seat is a little uncomfortable for sure, which is a shame because it looks great. As for the plastic had cap it is kind of odd, but one the other hand it actually makes a lot of sense. Fuel will cause corrosion quite rapidly on a metal cap, and so will the salt off your hands. I am not sure that's why the cap is plastic but that seems reasonable enough.

    • @Deepingpaul71
      @Deepingpaul71 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After getting stage one tune the throttle lag was awful, went back and they made it into a whiskey throttle which helped but never as smooth as factory set up. Can make pulling out of junctions awkward.

    Change the brake pads to EBC semi sintered pads. Mucho better than factory. I worked for a dealership for 18 years. I recently bought a 2022 FXBBS and basically I really like the bike. Just a couple things to dial it in for me.
    Thanks for the review

    I bought one of these new from Preston Harley, England. I bloody love it! Having said that I have upgraded the exhausts to Vance & Hines grenades so it now sounds like gods making love. I have also added a screen as on a motorway (freeway) you can feel battered by the wind.
    btw I am gutted to hear that Preston Harley has closed for good as a great team worked there.

      Nice one! Such a great bike, especially once you get some loud pipes on there! I’m thinking of getting the Memphis shades road warrior fairing for the highway also.
      Sad to see a lot of dealerships seem to be downsizing or closing...

    Nice video. I have the same bike. I can agree with your points but the front brake to me is fine. I don’t have abs so I personally wouldn’t want more braking to the front in case it locks up.

    Thank you for this great video, i am so undecided about front suspension. Do you have any idea that it is stiffer than 48 s fork. This bike made me so confused when I was preparing to buy a sportster 48 :)

    • @MudpieCaviar
      @MudpieCaviar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Can, the suspension on the streetbob is a lot better than the 48! The bike is just bettter in every way. The 48 is a really cool bike but if I was you I would save more money and get the streetbob!
      More power, smoother and better suspension.
