    This is a fair comparison. The SVR is no doubt the better all round package but if you're really into driving and engagement then the Stelvio wins it for me. It just has so much passion and soul which is why I would feel more attached to it. If you want great infotainment, more practicality, better ride comfort, better warranty, then get the SVR. If you're fine with good enough infotainment, good enough practicality, good enough ride comfort, ok warranty, but want the absolute best handling and driver focus SUV on the market then the Alfa is for you. The SVR is an amazing machine which I wouldn't complain to own but I went with the Alfa. Montreal Green Stelvio QV arriving in a couple of weeks!

      Its been almost a year now mate, what have you thoughts been on your purchase. I am literally on the fence, dont know which one to buy. I have driven both, and the Alfa wins hands down. Look forward to your comments :)

      @mobreis5620 still loving my stelvio qv. I have since lowered it on springs which now looks how it should, remapped it to 600bhp and 880nm torque by celtic tuning, and taken it on a road trip to Switzerland and Italy through stelvio pass and it hasn't missed a beat(touch wood) at all. I have been thinking if I was to change cars, what would I get? I can't think of any other car I would rather have right now. My friend had a svr and he said mine just felt more raw and aggressive. His was more comfy and luxurious. So just depends what you want from a car.

      @@choptang564 that you for your prompt reply, greatly appreciated! :) Your spot on ref your observations, I have test driven both and the Alfa is on another level, but I must admit, the Jag sounds extraordinary. I cant imagine how exhilarating it would be to drive your car through the Stelvio pass! WOW! I too cant think of any other car that could replace your weapon! Enjoy ;)

    The jaguar embodies grace, space, and pace.

  • @rf8481
    @rf8481 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I am biased because the Jaguar is a love affair. To own one is to love one and yes you can love a car. The Jag just has so much personality and it is so gorgeous but also a most usable muscle car with rear wheel biased AWD which is packed with class and panache. Accordingly, to drive one is to become addicted especially in dynamic mode - it is such a total beast that sings like a big cat and they are such eye candy - especially in British Racing Green.

    • @rf8481
      @rf8481 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I should add that the Jaguar F Pace is a very reliable car. The only problem I have had with mine was the plastic coloration on the radio volume knob (passenger side) flaked and it was replaced under warranty - I suspect that one of the several women I live with was using nail polish remover to clean off makeup smudges from the trim as they tend to put on their make up in the car on their way to school in the AM ...bloody uncivilized I tell you, but with time management being such an endless challenge these days.........that said, I never, and I mean never shave or shower in the Jag and I frequently am racing the clock (BTW - no better daily racer than a JAG if you are in a hurry on hilly and twisty back roads.) Now if JLR would put a 12 V socket for a hair dryer in the back seat alongside dual lighted vanity mirrors, that would be a big hit with a large market demographic of teenage girls! Further the leather is very high quality and very durable as my 130 and 110 pound American Akita canines can attest to unconditionally. Nothing better than driving down a country road with two bear sized heads outside of the back windows since the drag coefficient means that any drool gets picked up by the slip stream and is then harmlessly deposited on the windshield of the BMW behind you and the lucky BMW driver is most unlikely to lodge any protest at the next stop light as having two heavily boned Pleistocene Epoch Dire Wolf sized dogs with bear shaped heads in the back seat just adds that extra level of shock and awe to an already spectacular looking and sounding ride with the gorgeous Leaper icon on the boot.

    You’re excelling yourself,Tom.
    This was a magnificent comparison - but for me, the effortless grand touring ability of the Jag (and a spare wheel) clinched it.
    You can’t go past a V8 and the servicing costs were amazing on the Jag. Although I shudder to think what happens beyond the 5 year mark cost-wise… especially as it would be a car which I’d like to consider a keeper.

    Leased a Stelvio (not a quadrifoglio) and while it was certainly fun to drive even with the base engine. That said it was plagued with faults and was towed twice. I turned it in early after the dealership wouldn’t/couldn’t tell me why the battery kept draining. Sometimes the sound would go off by itself and another time the sunroof stuck open but closed after restarting. Plus the boot is tiny. And it was recalled 3 times.
    Bought the F-Pace SVR in July and it is a far more solid car, far fewer glitches and has been totally reliable. Bigger boot and better amenities especially the control screen and sound system.

      The engine and electrical systems have been 100% reliable. Mine has 24k miles now. The entertainment system has an occasional glitch: it turns itself off. I turn it back on. The SVR is an awesome machine that measures mile in smiles. Get one with a full service history and I reckon it’ll be a solid daily.

    I love the Jag engine. A classic. I have it in my 2021 F-Pace SVR, and in a 2014 XKR. Cannot get enough of it. Especially in the F-Pace, it makes for a delicious combination of analog, old-style instant power with a classy, refined interior experience. I bought the SVR because I knew that while small twin turbo v-6 engines will be around for awhile yet, supercharged V-8s will not. As you say, now is the time. And I got in just before the chip shortage, so it has the doo-dads that fit the high-end SUV profile.

    I would consider the Jag being an owner of an Alfa Ti Sport it has great character but comfort is not a strong point. Sometimes I go back and forth about trading it in but the moment I put it in Sport mode I fall back in love with the car. It’s just so great to toss into corners and give BMW owners something to think about when they look at me and I’m keeping up with them corner for corner. The SUV is deceptively quick . Firstly, both are beautifully styled inside and out. One of my best friends owned a 2018 Giulia Quad here in the States and loved driving it, but my God was it unreliable. Many, many warranty repairs. So, I'd choose the Jaguar, especially with the SVRs intoxicating V8 roar. I smiled every time you floored the accelerator, Tom. I watched your M3 and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio video intently and noted your enthusiasm for the Italian masterpiece for its ability to strike an almost perfect and unmatched driving dynamics for a sports sedan. The Stelvio has an option of a space saver spare wheel if you want one. Which incidentally I do, therefore I sourced one and installed it. From new the spare wheel is an option at comparatively little expense. The foam can option is to be avoided. The salesman will happily tell you how few spare tyres are even fitted in the life of the car but when you get a flat at two in the morning in the rain on a remote road the salesman will be tucked up at home in bed, it will be you who is glad that there is at least a spare wheel which you can fit to get you home.

    Ford vs Alfa

    Well, I’m fully biased towards the Alfa as I have had a Misano Blue Quadrifoglio since July and it is a proper drivers car. Considered the Jag, but didn’t need that size and the 5 litre V8 is too old a lump.
    When you buy a performance SUV, having lots of tech and digital displays isn’t necessary. The Alfa stirs the soul, the engine sounds superb. Sure it’s not perfect, but then neither is the Jag. The Alfa is already a wide car and the Jag is 12cm wider makes it an even bigger parking headache!
    When you buy an Alfa you expect some quirks and oddities but you quickly forgive and forget simply because the car is so engaging to drive.

    Hard choice but maybe the Jag due to longer warranty and servicing costs.

      ? do you have somethuing in your ears? I think its that Jag what is rattling, that should not be any wonder If you think about Jags quality in the past.

    Stelvio looks nothing like the Giulia and it looks bad. I've seen enough examples since launch and I am correct.
