    The ‘a’ in Alfa’s dna drive modes stands for ‘advanced efficiency’ not ‘all weather’.

    Love to see the Alfa in that configuration combo. That color, the wheels, with the yellow brake calipers just pops to me. Also glad to see the Jag go with a gear selector lever, rather than a rotary knob/button. Never been a fan of them in that way. Nice review, and love the rolling exterior shots. Thanks for posting.

    If you’re going to post a review, do yourself and your viewers justice by at least having done minimal research. BOTH OF THESE vehicles have betrayed their makers reputation and proven to be impressively reliable. So it doesn’t take deep pockets to enjoy them. ALSO, the A in Alfa’s DNA stands for “advanced efficiency”, not ALL WEATHER.

    Actually that engine in the jag has been used in several models and is extremely reliable. Far more so than the 4.0 twin turbo that Mercedes use. But thirstier .

  • @unpluggedkiwi2699
    @unpluggedkiwi2699 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I normally prefer the sound of a V6 over a V8, but the SVR is on a different level to normal V8's. I don't have a race track in my back yard, and the open road speed limit in my country is 100kph, so the time around the 'Ring is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the Jag is more comfortable, looks better (in my opinion) and can tow my jet ski or ski boat (2400kg towing limit). The Alfa doesn't have any tow rating at all. What is the use of a hot family SUV that can't even tow your toys to the lake. And I also much prefer steering mounted paddles rather that the Alfas column mounted ones. My ideal garage, F-Pace SVR for everyday and long trips etc, and a soft top Jaguar E-Type for special occasions.

    I actually have a Giulia Ti and a Jaguar XJ. Of these two it would be very, very difficult to choose but I'd go with the F-Pace SVR. It is bigger, probably a bit more comfortable (which is more important in an SUV), and the V8 is bulletproof. I know; my XJ is ten years old with 80K miles and the supercharged V8 purrs like a kitty. The long term reliability of that (glorious) boosted V6 is an unknown quantity.

      As the word implies, but my point is, why go V8 & 4L (just like the new & 1st ever Aston Martin SUV about to be revealed later this year) when you can have it just like the Quadrifoglio. 4L V8 seems to be the default and not sure if it's because of R&D constraint or cost-effectiveness. Can't be the latter as smaller engine can mean lower cost w/ undiminished performance when turboed.

      The Alfa V6 was born from a Ferrari V8. That’s why it has higher specific power.
      Most brands need bigger, heavier and usually less efficient engines to achieve the same specs.
      The Jag is no exception. Despite having a bit more power, is actually slower than the Alfa.
      Has for reliability, I would easily bet on the Alfa. We are in 2020, not 1980.

Now in your defense, my Giulia quadrifoglio has the same 'problem'. It didn't come with launchcontrole and if you just floor it when you stand still you definitely feel the 'delay'.
