The Performance Crossover That's Also Designed For Daily Living | 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Review

  • Aside from the glorious exhaust note, one thing separates this Jag from a BMW X3M, or AMG GLC63: ride quality. Perhaps it's because Jaguar realizes the F-Pace will spend more time on the school run than the local race track, perhaps it's just the way the engineers liked it, but either way this is the performance CUV for you if you don't want your teeth knocked out on the way to the office.

    Great review. An F-Pace SVR owner here and I was worried about the seats as we do some big trips and they looked pretty thin. My previous F-Pace S had the 18-way ones which were incredibly comfortable. But I've found the SVR seats to be very comfortable even doing longs hours in them, 6-8 hours, not as comfortable as the 18-ways but not uncomfortable. I really think anyone looking should definitely try them first though, just in case they get the same issue as you. Reliability wise, I've had two F-Paces and had a single issue with the bonnet catch on the SVR and it was replaced under warranty when I mentioned it at the 2nd year service. No fuss, no drama. Absolutely love this car.

    On the subject of Jaguar reliability, I have owned two F-Paces (2017, 2020) over the past six years and driven 60k+ miles. I have had EXCELLENT service records for both vehicles. In speaking with my local Jaguar General Manager, he confirms it’s Land Rover that now has the the bulk of reliability issues, not Jag.

      i'd love to get one (see: the driving scores), the only thing it's missing that's a must for me is an advanced adaptive cruise/lane centering/traffic jam assist system that all its competitors have :( i do a lot of long driving and also for my commute sit in traffic, my wife's audi has these systems and they are wonderful. Jaguar used to have "steering assist" on the pre-facelift F-pace a few years back but then removed it... not sure why maybe it wasn't good enough?

    Once you drive one, you forget about any nitpicks and issues with the seats or seatbelts. The SVR F Pace is like driving a Dodge Challenger with a huge V 8 only it handles better and has better tech and reliability and utility. The F Pace is first and foremost a driver's car and it handles better than a MB C Class and the acceleration and exhaust note is literally mind blowing to the point of being like heroin...this is a addictive ride and the reliability is excellent as the engine and power train has been around for a very long time and is bullet proof.
    The biggest problem with an F Pace with a supercharged engine is that the car begs to be driven fast and hard such that you do not want to be stuck behind someone driving the speed limit but it is also a most comfortable ride and very refined and gorgeous eye candy. One thing Alex did not mention is that this thing is a monster in the snow on unplowed or partially plowed roads unlike most of the competition, the Jaguar just goes without any drama in several inches of snow and this thing just eats snow and it is also quite capable off road.
    I would recommend losing the summer tires for Continental Contacts in Winter but that is true of any sports car in winter and most importantly, the F Pace drives a like a big displacement V 8 Dodge Challenger with better steering and brakes. It is big and heavy but it is a great highway cruiser and a great ride in back roads where you can just open it up and let it rip at 7 to 8 to tenths of the F-PACE's limits. The F Pace is a muscle car and it feel likes one behind the wheel and that never gets old. It is the most fun to drive car in the segment hands down.
    Lastly, it is comfortable. Many times I have taken refreshing naps in mine by reclining the front seat backwards while waiting to pick up someone while sitting in a parking lot. I mean the seat comfort is very good in that regard and the sound system is also excellent. It is very much a Jaguar in that regard.

    To keep comparing this to the X3M by saying it’s heavier, stops slower etc, is a mistake.
    The F-Pace is of a size that sits between the X3 and X5 and the other German equivalents. That makes it tough to compare directly, but by choosing the smaller car here it’s easy to criticise. Compare this to an X5 or Cayenne and see the other side of the coin, while always remembering the price of this car!
    You can’t get away from the fact that this has a big character, and is the choice for those with taste.

  • @tjs114
    @tjs114 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There is a matte painted Hyundai Veloster on my street, the paint job is utterly destroyed for three reasons. First, our local water is so hard that it etched the paint. Second, they were in a fender-bender and still after 2 years can't find anyone to do the paintwork on it because of the matte paint- something Hyundai apparently doesn't mention to potential buyers. And finally, Third, her kids washed mom's car for her and used one of those wash and shine car washes on the matte paint so it looks sort of like it is blowing clear coat. Oh, and if you don't wash bird droppings off within hours it apparently etches the paint - she had that happen before any of the other events. So yeah, just say no to overpriced matte paint unless you have a garage to part in and a paint shop already lined up for when you need one.
