    I grow low scale in bottles. I too had moisture problems . But it was completely fixed with some fine chopped straw in the mix. The saw dust just gets to thick and dense without it. For oysters I use 75 hardwood sawdust, 10 chopped straw, 10 coffee grounds, 5 fine ground oats. Give or take mostly by volume. Thanks for your great video.

      I’m very interested in trying this, do I need a strain of goldens to get started or simply the mixture of sawdust and straw and do you use used coffee grounds or unused? Thanks 😊

    As always Jewell, thanks for your videos and taking the time to share. I can't thank you enough! I gain enormous amounts of knowledge and confidence from you. Thanks mostly to Your videos (and Myers) on starting a small scale growing operation, I've been re-inspired to try this with Three Grow Tents 10 feet Long X 10 feet Wide x 8 foot Height- with hopes to produce enough to increase growth of operation. I'm a long way from producing and would not have done it if not for You, Myers, WTF, and Earth Angel. Best wishes of continued success.

    I have a question with that indoor light 💡 it may be bright, but does it make for vitamin D holding mushrooms?🍄 I just grew some pink recently and may move soon I wouldn’t mind using a light and maybe partial 🌞 sun. Would like to in either garden bed or 🏕.

    Pmsl. No questions merely an agreement. Im having trouble with my masters mix moisture content as well. Followed Myers Mushrooms re the amounts and my mix was bone dry! Nearly twice the water as stated and im starting to get close.....
    Goldens look awesome sweetheart, se of the best colour I've seen!! Well done.

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I've found out it's not as easy to determine your water amount as listening to someone else! There's actually math, a stove or a microwave and a small scale involved. Literally. Are you using pellets or sawdust?

    • @thehillbillyhomestead3424
      @thehillbillyhomestead3424 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jewell's Funky Fungi Hardwood pellets.....it became apparent that after the 1st experiment that our pellets may absord more moisture then pellets available elsewhere. Im not sure as to whether thats because of the timber species or the way theyre produced but yeh.....uts all a learning curve though so even the mistakes are enjoyable lol

    Thanks for the great video! What temp is working best for you to get the goldens to pin? My grow room is at 66 and I think it may to be low for them to fruit.

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jesse Knox Thanks! So mine do very well in cold(er) temps. My grow right now is 60 degrees and sometimes dips below that and they’re doing just fine. They need to be fully colonized before going in or that slows down but they fruit just fine!

    • @jesseknox9322
      @jesseknox9322 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jewell's Funky Fungi wow that's cool! Do you think your light set up is why your golds are doing so well? If that's the case mine may need to be closer to my light? Thanks for your time I appreciate it!

  • @stacyreid2380
    @stacyreid2380 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love the color!!! So what temp are you keeping your golden's at? I see some people growing golden oysters with the pink and some growing them cooler with the blues. What is your strategy?

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! My grow is between 55 and 65 depending on the day but I like it cooler...55 would be great. Pink wouldn't do well in there though. Yeah, I was a little surprised at how well they do in the cold as well I'd read they were only warm weather, but it could be the strain. I get mine from North Spore

    Nice. As a chef my self its the color first that apeals to the chef than the flavor is also awesome. I made it to master chef on the strip in vegas till i got sick 2 years ago was working at Belagio and Mirage casino. Im with earth Angel, i bag dry 2lbs then add 3 lbs of water to it makes it easier to me.

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      a j Oh so you don’t mix then bag?!? I think Scott (forget his last name) does that too. Never tried it but maybe I should. Love me some Vegas restaurants, they’re best! By the way, I’m picking up that you are a Sunday TH-camr, lol!!! Always Sunday morning you comment :) :):)

    • @ajthegardener
      @ajthegardener 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mix the substrate and nutrients up dry bag that up to 2lbs then add 3lbs water its easier to me. im youtube on everyday, im like u stay at home with the kids getting business started from the spot. That is just normally when i see ur videos. I do alot of reasearch on here while watching my daughter's(1 and 3), can watch and listen and still keep track of them. Just do it on a small scale n a apartment.

    • @SolarDrew
      @SolarDrew 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      a j likewise. I just add water to the bag. Less mess. Less hassle.

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      a j awww, that’s what’s up!! Hey one last thing- I’m guessing you have to use sawdust? I was just thinking about it and I don’t know how the pellets would break up if I dry bag

    • @ajthegardener
      @ajthegardener 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe earth angel uses pellets also for his, but yes i use sd. I get it free from old school furniture building places, homedepot, and lowes. When it sits it will break up, and also when u put it in to sterilize it it will break the pellets down from the heat. Then when u add ur spawn u can shake it up more. So i wouldnt worry about the pellets.

    What temperature do you maintain for fruiting? I've read that Goldens like a higher temperature than Blues, but yours are in the same chamber and seem to be thriving!

    • @JewellsGardens
      @JewellsGardens  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Austin Roper so golden definitely prefer warmer temps but for me they fruit exactly the same in colder temps (mid 60’s) they just take a little longer than at 75. Now pinks you can’t grow at all under like 75 they look like sh*t!
