Great video! I just picked one of these up. I actually have used this on a few New Era snapbacks to get a more comfortable fit. It seems dumb, but stretching a snap back so I can wear it on 4 buttons instead of the last 2 has been amazing. Big dome gang here. 🤙

Did a search for a hat stretcher and a few how-to videos loaded as well, and your video was one of them. So, I clicked on it and really glad that I did. After watching I bought the items you suggested on Amazon. I have a 7 3/4 fitted size, and I almost always order my ball caps online. Some fit perfect when I get them, and others are tight like the rubber bands and watermelon you were talking about. The problem is I tried going to the next size up, but every hat is to lose then. A couple hats have stretched from wearing them over time, and the others are still tight. Just got another hat today and its pretty tight. So, when the stuff from Amazon arrives I'm going to watch your video again and square all my hats away. Thank you for posting this, and for really hitting the do's and don'ts details.
Follow up to my comment two weeks ago. I received the hat stretcher and steamer from Amazon. After watching your video again, I got to it. I have to say that every once of your video and all the tips and do’s & do nots you take the time to explain and mention are perfectly spot on. From the fact that you’ll get better the more you do, to leaving just a bit of the wood out to put the stretch mainly on the hat ban, to how to tell its tight enough, and not over steaming. I’ve watched other videos on this subject, and I swear your video is absolutely the best. I basically wasted my time checking out other videos. This video is a ten out of ten, and works perfect! Thank you for posting, and thank you for the suggestions on what to buy on Amazon. It’s too bad that you don’t get credit or compensation for that since it was your advice that caused me to buy the items.
I just bought a Kingston Indians olive two tone gold edition in a size 7 on Topperz store as that is what they had left so I'm going to try your method of stretching it out and hopefully the hat fits well
I measured my head with a tape and it was 55cm, so I bought a size 7 Yankees hat, but when wearing it I felt a slight tension on my forehead leaving a mark, I don't know if it's because of my hair which is too long or if it really should having taken a 7 1/8 instead, I had to use this method to stretch , now I must take the 7 1/8 from now on
my size 7 1/4 is smaller than other models of the same size that I have. If I use the hat jack, can I enlarge it a bit so that it stops squeezing me, or will it become too large? Thank you
I fucking appreciate you. The first video I saw, dude basically said “give up”. Found your video, and I’m a believer. I’ll try this method out FOR SURE!!!
Your videos are soothing lol they help me fall asleep…not boring just the voice I think haha but I love that you’re detailed in the steps and you get straight to the point and no annoying extra stuff! Keep up the good work
Hey! My hat is perfect size, but it is very tall and if I place it above my ear, the top of the hat is 2 inches away from the top of my head. Can i do something about it?
Thanks for the tips. All I could find are videos of felt cowboy hats. My hat is a waxed full brim and it's fabric like your baseball caps. Totally different style, but the process should be the same. Cheers from the Scottish Highlands.
❤️Thank you!! Bought hat at university online store. Only 1 size. Thick, natural hair + big-ish head🤷🏽♀️. Crown is bit shallow. Have everything but stretcher. Another channel suggested soccer ball. If that doesn’t work, will def order stretcher 👩🏾🦳

@@sq9779 polyester is made to withstand long wear, it’s not a stretchy fabric but you can absolutely stretch it. Shirts, bottoms, headwear, it’s common.
@@sq9779 depends on the size of the cap, if there’s too many sizes in between you risk loosening threads or damaging the hat before you achieve the correct size. For example a kids size cap is 6 7/8, I can stretch that to a 7 1/8 and it would be fine, no damage if done properly. idk if your kidding or being a troll but yeah best of luck!

Hey, thanks for the video! This worked well for one of my hats, but another one is still a little small on me. I believe a hat starts fitting comfortably on size 7 1/4; I bought a hat that is 6 7/8 and have already stretched it twice, it is still too tight though. If I keep stretching it, will it eventually reach a comfortable size for me or do you think going from 6 7/8 to 7 1/4 is not doable?
@@jeffn3223 I’ve never stretched a hat that much, I would check the size range on the hat stretcher and then just be extra careful not to put too much stress on the hat. Also make sure your leaving the stretcher in for atleast 24 hours
The stretcher and the steamer are totally unnecessary. Simply use a pot to boil water and another pot to put a hat on while steaming. Adjust the pot circumference by inserting cloth on front/back
@@SmallFeetBigHeat I mean the convenience is pretty much the same, with 0,00 USD spent. These stretchers are more expensive than hats. Unless you are a professional hatter, it makes no sense to buy it.
@@ivaerak The stretchers are $15-20 bucks on Amazon and most other places. The hats are $45-60. Why would anyone risk manual stretching which is uneven and puts the hat at risk? Even if someone is not a “professional hatter” I’m pretty sure no one wants to ruin a hat they spent money on.

If I have a size 8 fitted, what hat stretcher size do I need?
Do I get a size small for the stretcher If I’m trying to stretch from a 7 3/8 to a 7 1/2
did you ever buy?

Can i put the hat stretcher in first and then steam it or do it like you did in the video
I explain in the video why I use the steamer before stretching the hat

Did it stay like that after 2 months since this video?! Or did you have to repeat the process again?
I haven’t needed to repeat it. The hat is still stretched.
I wish they made the hat stretchers with the actual sizes on them.

Why u not use a new era cap? The fabric is different
Most new eras are poly, the hat I used is poly, they aren’t different materials it’s a fitted hat all the same just not manufactured by new era.

not gonna lie I just put the back side of my cap on my knee and yank it until I hear a snap :D
Bad idea. As a hat maker myself I can tell you that the snap you hear is the threading on the sweatband being compromised in some fashion.
