Had to come back here and comment! The towel method worked like a charm. Possibly even better than the tool does. I had never bought a fitted hat before and of course ordered a size and a half too small. Was ticked and didn't want to have to spend 20 bucks on a tool that I'll probably never use again. Plus a lot of the reviews said I would probably leave a crease because of the sharp corners on the tool. Tried the towel trick and left it all day while I was at work and man it fits perfect now. And no creases since the cloths are malleable and fill the whole inside rather than just the front and back. Thanks so much for this vid. Saved me a bunch of headache and even some money 😁
The towel and pen trick works like a charm. Wow! I like to add that steaming the fitted hat before stretching it ensures the structutal changes of the cap is permanent.
So I fall between 7 1/4 and 7 3/8…used your video to help me shrink down a 7 3/8 and the oven/dryer method worked great. Got a low profile 7 1/4 and I don’t have a hat stretcher. Tried the towel technique but only got a little stretch after 6 hours or so. However I got a kettle boiling and used some steam and the knee trick and now it’s sitting comfy on my melon
Worked Great! Wore my hat out golfing on a windy day, and the hat fit snugly so the high winds didn't blow it off. But then it started to drizzle. When dry, EMS had to cut it off!
Came across your video moments ago. Learned about the so-called hat Jack and saw them on Amazon for around $15. I then looked on TEMU to see if it was sold there and it was and I had credits so I ordered it there. Hopefully it arrives intact and works out well for me. Again, thanks for taking the time to do this video. Much appreciated (even two years later).
I've actually had my fitted hats for 10-15 years, and that's the problem. My head has gotten bigger since then, and now the hats all fit tight. Will try the towel thingy. I knew it was some combination of getting the hat wet and putting something inside. Didn't think about a towel so thanks. Not much to lose.
I was to lazy for that I just started stretching it with my hands seems to actually work just grabbed the side of the brim and pulled the back of the hat seemed to actually work literally just did this while watching the video I really like your methods and I’ll definitely be looking into that wooden hat stretcher
7 5/8 fits me perfect but after a few uses my hat seems to shrink leaving marks on my forehead but thanks to you’re video I stretched them out now I have wiggle room but not to loose 👍🏾🙏🏾
I took one of hats to try on after 7 hours. It appears to have stretched a little bit, but it was still wet so I put the towel and all 3 white tees, and the pen back in. . I'd say if you're 1/8 of inch too small this method will probably work for you. 1/8 inch is a lot btw. When I bought the hat, one size bigger was clownishly too big. One of my hats I kept crumpled in the trunk for like a year so it lost most of it's shape. This towel trick helped fix that as well. Thanks. Edit: Scratch that. it was more like 1/16 of an inch than 1/8. The hat was better, but not quite good yet. So I'd say it works pretty well if you're in between 2 sizes. Basically wearing the hat in without discomforting yourself.
@@andrescasas5889 I'd give it a shot with the towels. I think part of my problem is that I don't bend the bill of the hat. It's more comfortable to wear if you do. But I don't see any harm trying the method if you're in between sizes.
Just got my first fitted hat. It was a bit tight, but used the towel trick. It stretched it out just enough so the hat is snug, but not tight. Thanks for making this video.
I spoke too soon. I used a towel and stuffed airpod case. I left it for 24 hours. After a few hours of use, the hat goes back to its original size. I ended up getting the hat stretcher. I left the hat in the stretcher for 2 days. My hat now fits perfectly, and its doesn’t shrink back to its original size. Its almost been a year since i’ve done this. Buy the hat stretcher , and don’t bother with the other methods.
@@phuvong2395 for me towel trick works good just stuff some thick towel and extra rags so u cant stuff it anymore and late evening you can test if you can stuff another rag in if you can it worked and leave for night and test next day. worked for my 2 59fiftys
I went ahead and wetted the band and did the towel thing. We'll see in a few hours, but I wanted to clarify first in case I forget to come back. The use of one towel is probably not enough by a long shot. The first hat I did required a towel plus 3 white tees stuffed inside. The same with the second. The third I ran out of rag white tees and just used my throw blanket. And most of it fit in there. So just an FYI that it does take A LOT to make it so tight that you can barely fit stuff in anymore. I only need 1/8 wider, so hopefully this helps. 7 1/2 hat that's too small, but a 7 5/8 hat that's a little bit too big.
How do I get the stretches to last? I use a steamer and the hat stretcher method, it works temporarily, but always goes back to original fit within hours/days.
If your dryer comes with one of those shelves that you use for drying tennis hoes, you could try putting it in and running it on the cycle used to get wrinkles out of clothes. Just an idea.
I really think I can make one of those hat stretchers at home. Great video, bud. Keep making more videos. You're a really good speaker and your videos are very well edited too. I wonder what camera you use to make your videos? Cool stuff. Keep posting.
My only advice is to measure the opening of a hat that fits perfect. As an example, my perfect fit is when the stretcher is 8 and 1/8 inches from end to end. Any time I get a new hat I stretch it to 8 1/8 inches and it fits perfectly.
I got a woollens cycle on my washing machine. I set it to 40 degrees and throw the hat in there in a little washing bag. Then I let it dry on a hat shaper. Comes out perfectly well.
i have a large dome! 8 in new era are too tight but 8 1/2 are way too big for me. 8 in fanatics are perfect but not many teams have these as new era has the market. hoping these hat stretchers work for me!
Hey bro, did you ever end up buying the hat stretcher he recommends in the video (or a different one)? I'm an 8 1/8 and am desperate to stretch out a few of my fitteds.
Bro my girl got my size 7 1/8 and it’s just a regular diamondbacks fitted no crazy design but damn I’ve been trying to wear it as much to wear the tightness out (that’s what she said) but damn it’s taking forever to wear out the tightness
Update: I tried the towel on 3 of my hats. A couple of them I'd say I got maybe 1/16 extra room which is not quite enough. One of them I didn't soak completely in water, and I didn't get anything. I think part of the discomfort comes from the front inside, as if I wear the hat backwards it's much more comfortable. I soaked all 3 of them pretty good and will try again. I'll leave it for a 1-3 days this time.
i have fat long curly hair, & 7 7/8 fits well, but after awhile it hurts, & leaves a red mark. a size 8 fits fine, but the wind blows it away easily, even when i jerk my head back, it comes off. so hopefully the towel/airpod method works🤞🏽

Love that there are a bunch of serious hat collectors and then there me with just a couple of slightly small target sun hats
Target sun hats are just as important as the fitted collections 😊
Going on a trip and ordered the same size hat I always do and it fit very tight. Used the towel technique and now it’s my best fitting hat.
