Great video man! I tried your long napkin trick but with a long strip of velcro from the dollar tree and it works perfectly! The velcro side on the fold and glue strip on the inner back of the hat and now a perfect fit. I was going to have someone sew a bit on the back for the fit on a few hats but this worked to damn good and for a dollar, technically less. Thanks for the great ideas man!

Good video man. Before I used to wear a bandana to fill the voids on some of my bigger fitted caps, depending on my hair style. I never thought those methods with the paper towel and Amazon capsize reducer. Not entirely on board with the heat and oven thing, but you're first 2 method were are definitely a game changer for me. Thank you
Ps. Instead of paper towel I used copy paper. Seems to hold the round shape more firmly. So I put 2 copy sheets together, fold them the way you did in the video; front and back. The fit feels much better. Field test to follow very soon, thanks again. Peace.

Thank You So Much! I also wear a size 7. I had purchased a limited edition throw-back hat of the Denver Bears, a former AAA team. This meaningful to me as I remember going to games when I was young, also my Dad was fortunate to be selected as a Batboy for the team in the 60s. Searching the internet for some time the only version I could find of this hat was in the fitted size of 7 1/8, so I needed to shrink it down to a 7. I followed the instructions for the baked in oven method. I baked for 6 minutes and when I took it out it was still steaming and wet, so I let it go another 4 minutes. the hat was fitted on my head each time I took it out. Initially, I unintentionally got the bill slightly wet. This worked out ok as I prefer a curved bill, once out of the oven the sightly damped bill was reshaped with baseball and rubber-band. I placed the hat about two feet from our baseboard heater for 20 minutes to fully dry. Overall, this worked PERFECTLY! This Hat Fits Like a Glove! Thanks for Sharing!

Thanks! I had two hats that were too big. I usually wear a 7 5/8. I had 7 3/4 that seemed a little bigger than normal and a 7 7/8 that was gifted to me and was enormous. I did the oven trick on both. The 3/4 shrunk almost perfectly. I feel like after I wear it a bit it will be perfect. The 7/8 I actually put in 2 rounds (different days) and it shrunk a lot. It’s still a little bigger than I need but the difference is huge. I may go for a 3rd attempt and see if I can get it just right. Thanks so much for making this video. This recouped two useless hats for me!

Just a little tip- a lot of dryers can adapt a drying rack: it’s either a flat, plastic, grill looking rack that slips onto the front bottom lip of the dryer opening OR a rubber-dipped metal rack that has legs that swing down & rest along the very outer edges of the dryer cavity where the spinning drum makes no contact. Theses racks are usually used to dry very delicate fabrics- even hats! Prob a lot safer than an oven.

I tried boiling water over the cap (use tongs to hold it) soak it and the peak. In the fan oven for 8 minutes on 310 degrees. Took it out and the light grey underside of Peak had some light burn marks where it was resting on the foil. Cap was still v.wet but was definitely smaller. Then put it back in the oven but with a cookie shaper under the brim to keep it up off the foil and stop it burning, fo this in the first instance. Then each 1m.30s took it out to make sure wasn't drying out too much. After another 4mins 30s the top part of the hat was dry and on the edge of burning so removed it from the oven. Left it to rest upside down on the crown of the cap for the day to dry out the card in the peak. And it definitely is a tighter less tall fit! Thanks for the tip man. I wouldn't of ever put my cap in an oven without watching this video!

I actually shrunk my New Era 39thirty Yankees cap. They don't make my certain hat anymore as they changed the style so I definitely didn't want to throw it away because it was too big. I put the hat in hot water and then put it in the oven. The hat fits much better now but I also added a paper towel and put 3 pieces of tape to stick it so it wouldn't move/fall out. Looks and fits much better. The inner band is a little bit more noticeable after the hat's thin sweat resistant material shrunk but I am looking closely for it. It looks fine to me. Surprised it work well as the hat is polyester and polyester doesn't really shrink much. Thanks.

Us a dryer sheet when lining your hat esp the front of it - it absorbs sweat and keeps it smelling fresh while also stopping white hats from turning yellow on the brim line from sweat

💯👍👋 I like the idea of using paper towels because I can spray it with the fragrance of the day and change it whenever I want😁.

I forgot how annoying NewEra 59/Fifty sizing was as I collected them as a teen, but now at 48 got back into hats with my son, haha. This video was helpful, as I am between sizes and skewed large and they were huge! What worked best for me was drench under the tap with hot water for a while (really work in the water into the bottom that goes around the head so the fibers are fully saturated), then do the blow drying trick on the hottest setting focusing on that same area but also work it around the hat as well. When if feels pretty good I then toss it into the dryer for 15-20 minutes making sure to check on it here and there. By the time it's fully dry it fits pretty well perfect. I'd not even thought of the paper towel method, but I will use this to fill in on the ones that were still a bit loose.

As long as the buckram is wet, heat from the dryer will go towards phase transition of water to steam instead of burning the buckram. Never heat the buckram dry as that may lead to burning.

Sweet video. Weather stripping (like the stuff you put around your doors) works great and it's super cheap. You just line the hat under the band.
