that thing is bad ass! you have one awesome build here! its a loooong way for me to go to reach this level, as I just started with a p71 intake I've installed yesterday. Now i just need the tune from marty. keep it up man!
Thanks! This didn't happen overnight of course, it's been a few years worth of work, it is the "budget" racer after all lol. Have fun while doing it, my piece of advice though, if you have any big mods planned (gears, upper intake plenum/TB, etc.) get those lined up before getting your tune from Marty.
Love it man! I’m tempted to get some cams from Todd Warren! I already ordered my SW headers and 3.73 gears. But started hearing what I think it the dreaded timing chain tapping the guides, how much farther would I have to tear in to throw a new set of cams in while doing the timing chain guides??
If you're doing a new guides, you're 80% there on disassembly. Best to do chains too, the Ford Performance timing set is awesome. Great thing about Todd is he custom specs your cams based on your goals. So you can get some chop and extra power without changing stock springs. Or, swap valve springs with performance units, and spin the snot out of it! I should be making power up to 6700ish RPM, and I can spin it 7000+ safely.
6:29 damn !! Sorry if I missed it but is your trans built at all or jmod? Or just a Marty tune? My 02 has 51k I wanna get it like this around the 100k mark
Your are doing the stuff to your car I am looking to do. Except I pulled the 4.6 and I am swapping in a Ls3/4L80 for now. Down the road I will 5.0 swap her but for now my 03' P71 is getting a Ls3 swapped in. I plan on getting rear control arms and watts link from ADTR as well as coil overs. And I plan on replacing the front and rear sway bars. I am not building a strictly drag car. I want to run tracks the way you are. There is a club I think it's Hagertys. They go around running tracks like Daytona, Rockingham, Bristol and others. It's going to take me a year or so, maybe 2 to get her built the way I want. I love the color of your GM panther. The way you have her she is badazz!!!!
Appreciate brother. I can't wait to hit a track with her. Yours handles very well. I was worried about that cause I know they have fat azz's lol. I don't want to build a Stang or whatever like everyone else. Stand,Vette camaro. You get the idea lol.
Gotta love neighbors 🤣🤣 so far mine are pretty chill haven’t come talk to me yet lol but she sounds good man another goal for mine thing sounds super healthy too 👌
Thanks man! If cams are in your future, definitely talk with Todd Warren, he can spec you something choppy that uses the factory springs, or go as radical as you want with the right springs for big power.
Why didn’t you put Borla exhaust? They tend to provide the deep throaty sound Ford is notorious for. Sounds great! How much does it cost to convert? I have an 2004 with only 65,000 miles on it, bought it in Florida some 12 years ago with only 39,000 miles. It’s my cruise car so it doesn’t get much use.
Borla sounds the best routed out the back, and I can no longer run over the axle pipe with my suspension components, I ditched the cheap mufflers and now the car has NASCAR style boom tubes. I'll probably run a pair of Black Widow "Widowmakers" ahead of the boom tubes because the car is too loud now lol. This was about $1500 in parts, and $3K in labor, but keep in mind, I did an upgraded timing set, cams, springs, and valve seals.
I'm running QA1 front coil overs, QA1 rear adjustables w/Roush springs. I plan on staying N/A, even on my future motor build, so I don't have the best advice on boost. However, ADTR.net has a well thought out Vortech system, and plenty have run Eaton and Whipple twin-screws on them too. No matter your decision, definitely go to Marty and Jeff at Mo's Speed Shop for your tuning, no one in the industry knows these cars better.
I know this probably a dumb question but how do people fit those "cobra" front bumpers on there cause the grill style in the middle is different I'm looking at getting one but idk how they get it to fit
Not terrible, I just went about 160 miles round trip on a little over 1/4 tank of 91. AutoX doesn't use much, track day's eat more. Obviously it's not my daily, so I don't really keep track of it lol.
Thanks! OBX long tube headers (now out of production), O/R 2.5in Xpipe, TotalFlow race bullets, side exit. Pretty soon it'll sport real boom tubes curtesy of SpinTech, stay tuned for that!
I'm on QA1 coil overs, but I believe the only ones offering coil overs for 2002 and down cars is ADTR.net. adtr.net/product/ford-crown-victoria/suspension-ford-crown-victoria/adtr-coil-over-system-92-02-rear-coil-spring-equipped-cars/

Super awesome looking grand marquis buddy.
The 3500 stall and the 4.10s alone really woke her up. But with the cams. DAM!!!! She is alot faster .
Love the look of the build!😎🔥
Looks great man!!! Well done!!!👍👍
Nice build bro
Thanks! Much more to do though with the 5spd swap and other things coming up!

Curious to hear the black widows on this!! love the build man!!

Still have your cammed Vic?
@Socoolds455 sold it last spring to a local kid. TH-cam fan I guess. He totalled it within a few months..

All that work hunched over oof. Don't know why they didn't raise the car up on stands or ramps. I'm too old to be working on stuff like that
Remove the hood maybe!
Where did you get the black chrome stickers around the car? sick build btw

I know this probably a dumb question but how do people fit those "cobra" front bumpers on there cause the grill style in the middle is different I'm looking at getting one but idk how they get it to fit
You have to do body work to combine two bumpers, its a crown vic or mercury, etc top half grafted to a cobra lower. It's a decent bit of work.
It's a Mach 1 chin spoiler that's added on
This might be a bit dumb, but how's the MPG with the cams? How quick does it go down on a track day or autocross?
