It was such a treat to watch this. I felt so much joy at seeing this way of people coming together to honour each other, the mother earth, the abundance she offers and the connection that brings them together. Those children are so lucky to be brought up like this.
I grew up in those hills and played with the sleeping grass every day. I would make sure they were all closed around the yard and do it the next day again.
These Hawaii videos are really great. Not only do they show the beauty of the islands, but also the passion to uphold, pass down, pass on and educate about the identity, language, culture & traditions of the Hawaiian people which is an increasingly homogenised world is a fantastic thing.
I mean, the smaller land you live, the better you must take care of nature. Because if you destroy it, you die. Its faster to destroy the nature on island, because they are pretty small.
i cant express properly how much i love the philosophy of this show; respecting nature and living with it, not in it, is what real sustainability needs to aim for. imma cry :')
Happy they narrated and showed the harvest of the animal. I hate when shows just completely skip over it to avoid any backlash. It was quick, humane, and more importantly, a part of all of our culture for 1000s of years, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
You can buy seeds easily. Try Amazon. I have gotten seeds from the target dollar section even. It may not be the exact same plant but it does the same thing and looks very similar. Try looking up senstive plant seeds.
Hawaiian people and islanders have the right thinking pattern about how to live with the land and pay respect to our world and what it gives to us. This was a great video I loved being able to see these traditions
this is easily one of the best episodes on the series, such a great atmosphere and it’s pretty cool seeing the Hawaiians treat the land with so much respect and passing that knowledge onto Brad, bravo Bon Apetit
One thing I love about It's Alive is Brad's appreciation of culture, safety, the environment, and the treatment of the animals he's going to cook. Truly a man of the Earth 💜
Thank you to everyone at BA. We love watching all of these on-the-go episodes. We really enjoy the salt-of-the earth feeling, the connection with nature, and the respect of the animals and culture. Your show is doing it right. NAILING IT!
I really loved this episode! The local people showed a real sense of community and environmental responsibility which I really appreciate. My mum grew up in Bangladesh and spent her childhood in the countryside. She told me about a time when some villagers caught a wild boar and they shared the meat with all the families who lived there and it seemed like a very nice community bonding experience for her. My family now can't really afford to buy free range produce but when I move out I'll make conscious decisions to avoid endorsing factory farming.
I am so happy that the fox is for the last few episodes has been sustainability and ethical practices when hunting. Too many other people give hunting such a bad name. I'll admit, I had a negative perception of hunting until I was able to see what an important practice it is when it is used for survival, not for sport. And this looks like such a good meal!
this culture is so beautiful. my family went on holiday and i cant express how much i miss it and how much i love the people and the land. i never wanted to leave.
Please keep doing videos like these!!!! Love the hunting and fishing videos. It's so so so good to see hunting painted as the respectful way of providing food it is and not some evil activity. Most hunters really care about the animals and are so respectful to them and the environment and people don't realize that.
There are homesteaders in Hawaii which grow and ferment cacao and vanilla. I’m sure there are fruits and fishes which are fermented traditionally. Brad in a loincloth mashing poi the traditional way would be hilarious. Just ideas.
Its so beautiful the respect they have for nature. That trap was as humane as it gets. I love it. 100x than getting an animal that lived its life in a factory.

Vivian Garcia I 100% agree! Ever since my grandmother and mom told me about what commercial tourism has done to the islands of Hawaii... I just feel so embarrassed about my race. It was such a treat to watch this. I felt so much joy at seeing this way of people coming together to honour each other, the mother earth, the abundance she offers and the connection that brings them together. Those children are so lucky to be brought up like this.
9:41 “dont worry u aint next”
Cow “k, just making sure”
😂🤦🏼♀️
I grew up in those hills and played with the sleeping grass every day. I would make sure they were all closed around the yard and do it the next day again.
What if Brad made an episode about pickling olives and called it "It's Olive"
There is an Olive episode but they missed the pun opportunity
Missed it man
Obsessed with how surprised and delighted people are about how Brad always wants to be right in the middle of the action.
"When you were doing your intro the pig ran away!"
Brad:
"I just kinda wish you guys woulda kept that one to yourself..."
I wish more people live with the spirit of these people, mindful of the impact they have on the environment and living consciously.
It's so awesome to see the little one give blessing in the native tongue.
These Hawaii videos are really great. Not only do they show the beauty of the islands, but also the passion to uphold, pass down, pass on and educate about the identity, language, culture & traditions of the Hawaiian people which is an increasingly homogenised world is a fantastic thing.
I just had a flashback to that episode of Gourmet makes where Brad walked into the office one time with a compound bow
What episode was that?
@@TumblingPebble Ep 16. Gourmet Peeps. Happens around the 16:56 mark
@@misomelkThank you, not being able to remember what episode it was in has been slowly killing me.
Hearing the littlest girl give grace made my heart melt 🥺💖
This makes me really happy, seeing people respect the animal they eat and do it in a humane way. It is beyond what nature usually is
Always gonna appreciate the fact Brad has an interest in the culture and people, instead of just the food or just the thing he's doing.
The moment he was struggling with the fence, that is classic BA editing.
this was so wholesome :0
i wish mainland-america was as in-touch to our native population and traditions as Hawaii is :/
Glen Smith but because of immigration, the only culture they get in 4th of July 💀 must suck
H A W A I ‘ I B A B E Z is 4th of July cultural? I’ve never thought about it like that
I mean, the smaller land you live, the better you must take care of nature. Because if you destroy it, you die. Its faster to destroy the nature on island, because they are pretty small.
Damn you gotta love Brad for getting along nicely with everyone!
Seems like they knew each other for ages in every episode of It's Alive!
watch the olive episode in italy...its a bit cringe but funny
i cant express properly how much i love the philosophy of this show; respecting nature and living with it, not in it, is what real sustainability needs to aim for. imma cry :')
That little girl saying grace was so sweet
Happy they narrated and showed the harvest of the animal. I hate when shows just completely skip over it to avoid any backlash. It was quick, humane, and more importantly, a part of all of our culture for 1000s of years, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
The sleeping grass 😳... nature is amazing
Isn't it called a "touch me not"?

They have thorns and, have some in my yard, they’re not fun to step on.
It's kinda sad when Brad refer to the cameraman as camera guy... Where's Vinny???
Vinny left BA and works for Babish full time. I'm pretty sure that's Matt, the editor of It's Alive
Vinny quit and is now the cameraman for "It's Dead with Gaby"
He works for Babish now
I didn't know that he quit.. i thought he worked double job because i presume babish doesn't film everyday
Its sad tho.. i love the jokes between brad and vinny.. hope the new camera guy could have a great chemistry too
this is easily one of the best episodes on the series, such a great atmosphere and it’s pretty cool seeing the Hawaiians treat the land with so much respect and passing that knowledge onto Brad, bravo Bon Apetit
I could watch Brad climb fences for hours.
One thing I love about It's Alive is Brad's appreciation of culture, safety, the environment, and the treatment of the animals he's going to cook. Truly a man of the Earth 💜
Brad getting sprayed by a little Hawaiian boy is the best
yes officer, this comment right here
Brad climbing a fence was the greatest love story of 2019
Claire comes out of nowhere asking Brad for help. 🤔
Thank you to everyone at BA. We love watching all of these on-the-go episodes. We really enjoy the salt-of-the earth feeling, the connection with nature, and the respect of the animals and culture. Your show is doing it right. NAILING IT!
This was very real and thank you for being respectful in what you are doing
youre so right Loco Teddy
I really loved this episode! The local people showed a real sense of community and environmental responsibility which I really appreciate.
My mum grew up in Bangladesh and spent her childhood in the countryside. She told me about a time when some villagers caught a wild boar and they shared the meat with all the families who lived there and it seemed like a very nice community bonding experience for her. My family now can't really afford to buy free range produce but when I move out I'll make conscious decisions to avoid endorsing factory farming.
Brad : "lilbitofeverythingnothinggoestowasteuh"
Kiley : "alright"
Sydney Smith 😂😂😂😂😂
I love this series. Brad and BA are so respectful of Hawaiian culture. You can tell he really cares.
That little girl is nothing short of amazing!
I think it is great that Brad came to Hawaii to try and learn about culture. No judgement just wanted to lean.
These kids have such great personalities. It’s a beautiful thing
Brad gingerly climbing over fences is all I need in this life.
this culture is so beautiful. my family went on holiday and i cant express how much i miss it and how much i love the people and the land. i never wanted to leave.
Please keep doing videos like these!!!! Love the hunting and fishing videos. It's so so so good to see hunting painted as the respectful way of providing food it is and not some evil activity. Most hunters really care about the animals and are so respectful to them and the environment and people don't realize that.
I really appreciate how much respect was show in regards to the indigenous people in this video
My window was open and someone must have been burning something at the perfect time as the fire pit was lit so now I just had a 4D experience watching this video
I really love how deep in family and being one with nature the Hawaiian people are. It’s truly an amazing sight to see.
3:55 in my country indonesia that plant is called "putri malu" translated to "shy princess" because it folds it's self like they're shy when we touch them
I absolutely love this video. It will forever me my favorite. Mostly because of how respectful Brad and the crew are towards they culture and how accepting they are towards learning about it. It’s beautiful.

hawaii is honestly my favorite place ever . i love learning new things about it because the culture is sooo interesting
TBH screw the resorts in hawaii, THIS is how you do hawaii! 😭
Vivian Garcia I 100% agree! Ever since my grandmother and mom told me about what commercial tourism has done to the islands of Hawaii... I just feel so embarrassed about my race. White people can look at an entire culture based on sustainability, family, and respect, and they just destroy it!
I wish people could learn the respect and love demonstrated in all these beautiful cultures across the world and keep their noses and money grubbing hands off of it.
Vivian Garcia I mean you can leave the resort and go to a hunting lodge the island is not that big
