I’ve been watching TH-cam as a whole for about 13 years now and I can confidently say BA is such a special place on this platform. Brad warms my heart. Thank you for making this series.
This Hawaii series is sooo amazing, it does so much to open people's eyes to the issues that are in this "paradise" for the native people of the islands, while also illuminating their traditions and community power and their progress towards having healthier soil, food usage, and as a result, people.
Honestly as a Native Hawaiian its so nice to see my people and culture portrayed in a "real" way. And I'm so appreciative that they found real, local guides and farms to visit as well. He's just so respectful and eager to learn; its really refreshing compared to some tourists we get out here
This episode brought me to tears. It reminded me of my time WOOFing on the Big Island in Hawaii a few years ago and the many lessons I've learned. WOOFing is when you volunteer and work on a farm in exchange for food and shelter. The Hawaiian people's reverence for the Aina and the deep spiritual and ancestral connection they have with the earth is a powerful reminder of who we are and what we should do. Aina translates to "land, soil, dirt," but it also means, "that which feeds," and it is an intrinsic part of Hawaiian culture. I love love love this episode so much. In these trying times where politicians are denying climate change and everything seems hopeless, when all we can focus on is the negativity and the many ways in which we are depleting Mother Earth of her magnificence and abundance, this video brought me to tears because it's exactly what we need to see. People restoring the connection between us and the earth. It reminded me of what I need to do. They said it said well in the video, "it's not about what happened, but what you're going to do about it. It's about how you're going to create change." With my utmost gratitude, mahalo.
idk what happened, I am sitting here watching this, then they all sang and ate together, and now I am just crying. Nothing was sad here, but almost feel mournful for what we have lost as humans. I am literally about to quit my job making maps and go become a farmer because this stuff just feels right. Working hard to just live, that is how we got this far in the first place.

@Defqon they used different tools and clothing before people invaded them. obviously they are gonna use steel and cloth now because it's easy to use, socially acceptable, durable etc. it's usually a subset of a certain group always messing stuff up because of greed, the one thing these people always have in common is that they are rich and they take far more than they need, because they can. people are divided by class more than they are divided by race these days, that wasn't always the case but it is now
Defqon but Hawaii was illegally overthrown. The queen was overthrown by white people and the native Hawaiians were killed off. Yes i agree we need the things that are imported here but i think the Native Hawaiians could’ve agreed to something where the Islands didn’t have to be i’ll shelly overthrown in order to bring in goods and the whites take the land

i love how right off the bat derrik backpedaled and clarified that there is nothing wrong with being a laborer, but that education just expands your options. super cool to so immediately show respect the ppl who put in the work behind the scenes so that we can enjoy the nice things we find in grocery stores. laborers are the backbone of society and we would be nothing without them.
A nice gesture, and one I'm all for, but frybread, which has its origin with the Navajo, not the Sioux, is the end result of the Navajo being displaced from their homeland and supplying them with government-issued food stuffs. (If I burst your bubble, I do apologize.)
My mom works as a dietitian for a local tribe in Louisiana, it's a small one but still federally recognized. I love their language. They speak their language very fluently but unfortunately it's at risk of dying out. Their language is so beautiful. And yes there is an old lady who makes fry bread and it is delicious. It's horrible that it has such tragic origins but I still believe it should be respected as one of their dishes, even with its tragic origins.
@@littlemissbekah9722 Hey, My family is Louisiana creole. I've been trying to track some of the origins as all our elders have just about passed and don't wanna talk about the past so I'm tryna do what I can. What is the name of the tribe? i love how right off the bat derrik backpedaled and clarified that there is nothing wrong with being a laborer, but that education just expands your options. super cool to so immediately show respect the ppl who put in the work behind the scenes so that we can enjoy the nice things we find in grocery stores. laborers are the backbone of society and we would be nothing without them.
That farm manager is thicc!
Omg yes
Chilllllll

Just go to hawaii lol
Hmmhmmm 😏😏😏
Been in a dark place mentally and this video always brings me back to what really matters importance of seeing the positive in things
I feel you. ❤
I get soo excited whenever I see a new episode of It's Alive😃they're soo fun, educational, and Brad is such a cool guy ! 😊
“Brad eating everything in the farm for 16 minutes and 47 seconds straight” 😂
That dude has great passion for farming, its quite refreshing to watch.
Edit: actually everybody there seems to have great passion for their work.
Really good effort for the native/indigenous traditions being respected - go to Sioux tribe territory in the Dakotas and have some fry-bread tacos!
A nice gesture, and one I'm all for, but frybread, which has its origin with the Navajo, not the Sioux, is the end result of the Navajo being displaced from their homeland and supplying them with government-issued food stuffs. (If I burst your bubble, I do apologize.)
I grew up in North Dakota and loved those as a kid. Haven't had one in years.
My mom works as a dietitian for a local tribe in Louisiana, it's a small one but still federally recognized. Whenever the health clinic at the tribe would put on health events for the community I would go with her and help her/volunteer. It's absolutely amazing and I am in awe of Native American culture.
What parish is it located by? As I know they have there own lands. Thanks!😊
It feels so tangible, the reverence and respect for all the wildlife and the land. If I ever have the chance to visit Hawaii, this is totally how I'd want to experience it 🧘
That was so beautiful.. I can't even imagine how I would act in your shoes, much respect Brad you're showcasing a perfect aspect of humanity.
That sense of culture and family is just beautiful.
We need more videos like this. So wholesome, the positivity just vibrates through the screen. I feel it 🙌
I love it when Brad bros out haha. This isn't quite Elias Cairo level but they were bro-ing pretty hard.
Which one was Elias again?
@@Dr.Boring The sausage maker and also the one he goes bird hunting with.
You can't teach that
Probably cause you can’t teach that
This is going to sound very odd but this whole video just made me so emotional. I can just feel the compassion and love of these people, it’s absolutely beautiful. I can’t help but know that the food shown here isn’t just delicious but actually full of love. I wish the rest of society could come together in such a beautiful community as this.
I loved their chemistry together! Felt really genuine
this was so wholesome and positive. more of this please.
This is one of my favorite videos now. The amount of positive energy this video brings- the love, the selflessness, the kindness, oh my god. 💕
I want to surround myself with people like this. They radiate so much love and happiness! It's beautiful!
brad eating radishes ASMR CHALLENGE
Stop trying to make it ASMR happen, only weirdos like it.
The people of Hawaii have the right attitude toward the environment and their community. If we all had their attitude, we would be living sustainably, happily, and and healthily. We wouldn't have the looming threat of climate change, we wouldn't have pesticide-covered food, we wouldn't have factory farms, and we wouldn't be over-consuming our resources. I think everyone needs to see these videos and experience Hawaiian culture, and hopefully they will be inspired to make a change.
Pre Occupied finally someone understands and sees the sustainability we the Hawaiians been doing since we first landed here

Brad looks so humble and happy to be there, especially during the meal, I love it
“Keep fighting the good fight because the world needs it.”
This is my home. Hawaii is such a beautiful and abundant place to live from the land. It brought tears to my eyes that Brad and the producers showed everyone what can happen in the future. It isn’t difficult to do what they are doing. This is beautiful.
This video is so wholesome. People are so proud and grateful for the food they have grown.
Honestly blown away by the respect and love that Brad showed to the islands in this series. Its rough going your whole life only seeing your people and culture displayed as a caricature of itself in popular media. Glad he took the time to hang out and work with real locals. Much aloha BA
