The OT runs within sight of our fence between HWY C and CR 210. The Jolly Cone is a local icon since 1953. The original owner was a friend of our family. Thanks for showing off the OT and Van Buren!
I grew up just a few miles upstream from Thomasville there near the southern terminus. Those hills and hollers still speak to me :-) beautiful country. Thanks for showcasing it so well!
Great video as usual! I shared it with two college friends of mine (we did a spring break backpacking trip on that section back in 1991). You are continuing to inspire me to do a longer solo trip. Thanks!
I'll have to check out your gear loadout to see what your alpaca hoodie is. I just ordered the Appalacihan Gear Company sun hoodie. I'm guessing you have the fleece, which is thicker.
You probably missed the trail becasue of that marker that was on the ground. That was probably the one that woulda pointed you in the right direction...lol 😁
This isn’t too far away for me to try this trail sometime. Always have time for a picnic table with a view. And cheeseburger + pizza any day😂 Look forward to the rest of the journey.
I truly enjoy your videos. I'm finally heading back out in a couple weeks for a "shakedown" with my teenage son at Lake Maria State Park, then early June we are heading to SHT to complete a section. (It will be his 1st actual backpacking trip)
Fun fact. Car camped at Lake Maria SP a number of years ago with the family and our camper was nearly hit by a huge tree in the middle of the night in a storm. Good luck on your trip.

Do you cross creeks / rivers with your shoes & socks on?
Yes
@@MidwestBackpacker do you have socks that dry fairly quickly or do you have a problem with that.
@@Uncle_Jacob yes. Shoes that drain and dry quickly and darn tough merino wool socks. Watch my recent shoe video.
Not doggin on you but do you live under a rock? Your in the middle of Missouri man. Its called a elk.
Yeah. My brain stops functioning when hiking alone for along time. 🥴
I did Eagle Creek loop in Arkansas & lots of river crossings

Just do it.

@@MidwestBackpacker wow, widow makers can even get you in the camper. Happy you didn’t get hit.
We are looking forward to getting out.
