just discovered your videos today and enjoying watching your daily ups and downs. i was also happy you found your spoon! ive thruhiked the AT and met a hiker out there that during the night, something walked off with one of his shoes. so from that point on, and to this day, i tie my laces together and tie my boots to my backpack. if something wants my shoe, they gonna have to work for it.
I really love this video playlist. Nice job of filming your adventure. I was planning the Ouchitah National Trail this spring but now, I will be sure to hit the Ozark trail this summer! I stick my wet shoes, filter, and water bottle in ziplocks at the foot of my sleeping bag. I also carry a pair of crocks for crossing creeks.
Thanks for sharing your hike! I hiked the Berryman Loop in January and I’m looking forward to getting back down there in the future to hike some more of the Ozark Trail. You videos are inspiring and helpful. Thanks for sharing all the hiking options in the Midwest. Until the last year I thought backpacking was only for people in Colorado, California, or in the Appalachians!
Have you ever considered putting your shoes and socks in a bag and throwing them in the hammock with you when sleeping? I've done this a lot and it helps keep them thawed out and you avoid putting on bricks of ice in the mornings. Great video.
You’re killing it out there Jeremy . Nice work . Your planning is impressive . So much to logistically get down. You looked really exhausted at the lodge there !
Pretty cool that they blow the leaves off the trail! Looks like you’ve had the trail pretty much to yourself, nice! Plenty of water for sure. Weather has been darn chilly!! , hope it warmed up a bit for you. The lil falls were nice. You certainly blow through the miles. Good thing all those dogs were friendly .Thank you for sharing your journey.
Great video my man, I just finished the Buffalo river trail and looking for something a bit longer. I’m about four hours north in Kansas City. I’m takings notes!
Did you know there are some very nice trails and a lot of off trail (but mostly nonbushwacking) caves and sites to explore in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge?
On March 23-25 I was on the Berryman Trail Loop, which overlaps with miles 21 to 36 of the Courtois section of the Ozark Trail. When I was on the OT I was northbound. I think that we might have been on the trail at around the same time, but I didn't see anyone and we were going the same direction. You might have passed my campsite the morning of the 24th. I had a late start of my 2 night trip on the evening of the 23rd and had to set up in a thunderstorm in the dark. I started the morning of the 24th at around 9am and it rained most of the day. I'm wondering if your next video will cover that rainstorm on the 24th. Anyway, great video.
Stupid question on road walks: When I used to be a runner, I was told to always run against traffic (on the left side of the road in the USA). Does the same protocol apply to road walks when hiking? It would seem to be a little safer, but what's the general accepted practice?
That was very clever to pack yourself an in-room dinner in your resupply box! Nothing valuable, and no worries about the weight. Thank you

I was worried when I saw you dumpster diving at the beginning but happy with the result
Thanks
Nice.

@@MidwestBackpackerReally nice editing. Appreciate all the time put into your videos.

I don’t want to spoil it, the storm definitely factors into the last video.
@@MidwestBackpacker I can't wait to see it!
Creepy cave looks like a food storage cellar.

Generally yes, but it really depends on how busy the road is and how big the shoulders on the road are.
If you had to pick one would you say the ouachita, ozark highlands or ozark trail is your favorite of these three?
That’s a tough one. I’d say Ouachita because of the shelters.
How long would you say it takes to set up your hammock and tarp?
If I don’t have to clear branches and I am not rushing probably 30 minutes.
