    Liberty Park, a sports complex of some sort, is also being built next door to it. The stadium upgrade will be a great touch and give some much needed beauty to the city. Not too mention what's going on downtown.

    😬the city of Memphis still needs a new Liberty Bowl stadium. Upgrade the stadium for the college or the city??? Just give that old stadium to the U of M already...If you build another one and be separate from the school a new Liberty Bowl can possibly get a new years day bowl game (more money) hold more events for the city. The university still needs it's own stadium to do as they want with it. They could build a dome stadium like the Alamo dome in San Antonio. In the off-season they can host other events with a convention center with a dome. It's time to build up Memphis, that's why people say Memphis is slow and behind. I seriously believe if the U of M owned the Liberty Bowl or that stadium they would have gotten in the BIG12 this time around even if they would've had to add another one.

    From the sound of the press conference, the university will most likely be owner of the stadium or part owner. They hosted the presser with mayor in attendance and UM AD Laird Veatch and new UM President did the majority of revealing and answering questions. That sounds like they are driving the ship. The Big 12 told Memphis that an OCS is not recommended nor required. It's about commitment to football and facilities and upgrades. City and UM will partner according to the mayor. He added that "ownership hasn't been decided yet". But sounds like UM after private funding will be announced. They will fund lion share of it.

    Question for you sirs regarding Big 12 expansion... Why is San Diego State not being more heavily considered for the Big 12? They have been consistent with football going 100-44 since 2011 (multiple conference championships and bowl appearances).They will have a brand new football stadium by2022 with the ability to expand seats from 35k to 50k. Their footprint in San Diego/US is the 8th largest city in the US with the #27 ranking in TV markets. Their basketball program has gone 367-100 since 2011 (multiple conference championships and playoff appearances). San Diego state has so much more to offer than a team/school like Memphis (no disrespect to them). I'm only pointing out the continued success and commitment by SDSU and it's athletic department to recruit and invest in its athletics and resources. They have an
    outstanding basketball arena (hosting the NCAA tournament games). SDSU's football and basketball combined wins vs losses over the last 11 years is proof of that committed culture. Why wouldn't the Big 12 want a solidified presence in Southern California? The weather, the city size and the ability to truly rival the PAC 12 with a BIG
    12 affiliation in Southern California. You know the PAC-12 would be very upset with that (that's a good thing for the Big 12). The Big 12 having a solidified presence is Southern California will generate more TV revenues for their conference based off geography, conference exposure, recruitment, and business acumen. San Diego State is currently expanding their campus on over 167 acres of land with brand new facilities, to include classrooms and dorms. Forbes ranks San Diego State 67 out of 600 of the top colleges in the United States. Memphis is ranked 447. The other point I want to bring up is the argument of geography….. We all know geography is not as relevant as it once was…. West Virginia in the Big 12 is the perfect example of why geography doesn't matter. Your thoughts/ feedback sir?
    Thank you.

    • @yellowmartian
      @yellowmartian 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Mr.Ed_Wayner no. Wait it out and see what the Big 10 does and what the PAC gets money-wise. Adding more G5 teams doesn't bring money to the new Big 12 and makes it more G5-y.

      SDS is a pac 12 school. It’s basically already claimed. In about a decade SDS will join the pac 12.

    • @RobotRebelCinema
      @RobotRebelCinema 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also think SDSU is worthy of being in P5 conference especially with marketing out their... But alot of conferences (that's not the Pac12) is hesitant about getting those California teams mainly due to the time difference from the rest of the country...
      And tbh they really don't fill up the stadium like the other teams heading to the Big 12... SDSU really needs to build an on campus stadium and sell more tickets if they wanna be considered for a P5 because it's not just about wins and success it's also about fanbase.

  • @BB-uu9oo
    @BB-uu9oo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    As a Tennesseean, I hope Memphis gets the Big XII invite. However, as a Vols fan I'm not looking forward to recruiting against them for players in the delta. Obv this new Big XIV wouldn't challenge the SEC but it would offer earlier playing time to recruits and will be home of a lot of 3* players going league.

    I thought the stadium was owned by a different entity.
    On the other hand, I know people are speculating whether or not the Big 12 are going to add more after OU and TX leave. I've seen both Boise State and Memphis being thrown as ideas, which I believe of them get a pass but after that, either look at other Power schools or leave it as it is. This doesn't need to be another Big East-AAC transition.

    • @jeanraphael60
      @jeanraphael60 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No they need 14 to be stable, Memphis and Boise are perfect. They bring either value or coverage. How and why would the Big 12 poach a power school when their basically tied with the PAC 12 as the worst conference, and they’ve already tried to pursue Arizona and Arizona State and failed.
