Memphis would happily be the little guy in the Big12 over being the big fish in the AAC. It's all about positioning yourself for the biggest pay check. Look at Texas and Oklahoma, gave up bing the big fish in the Big12 to go and be a face in the crowd in the SEC but their getting a much bigger pay check. That is THE consideration when looking at major college football

With declining attendance over the last 3 years and the huge television coverage of games . . . The age of loyal fans that show up is older now ! The best crowd last year was arround 40,000 how do you think the new stadium is going to look half empty ???

To the guy saying it's not a bad thing to be top team in a watered down AAC. Big 12 = $20-24M and TV exposure to AAC = $7M on streaming device. That's why staying in the AAC is NOT an option.

The renovation of their current stadium is the best option where newer stadiums are going in the billions.
I think this will improve the fan experience overall and could get an NFL preseason game. Sure critics say Memphis lacks growth, but updating the facility is a good step to compete in a Power 5 conference.

Saying that you would rather be a Top G5 than a Bottom P5 has to be the dumbest comment I have heard in a long time. Those schools struggling in the P5 are struggling due to internal issues. Once you right the ship you have the resources to take off. A top G5 school has everything poached them the moment that they gave success do I don't have a clue shay Giannini is talking about. That was a dumb statement.

Stadium looks amazing. If this is happening, warrants the BIG12 bringing them in. Memphis should have made this move sooner. I think the BIG12 will probably wait to see how the TV money is working. Either way, looks exciting.

Vol Nation is massive. However, they are in a state of flux right now. Memphis maybe should've
made this move a little sooner. Doing it now, at the start of a recession might be a major risk.
That being said; if this works, and Tenn continues to fall flat, the Tigers program could become
the premiere team in state. And a move to the Big XII as a commodity would help that effort.

      Yep, heck look at UCF!

@@CatsClaw44 = The irony with UCF is how USF petitioned the NCAA to let them out of the contract to play them. USF said they were holding their schedule strength down; and went so far as to call themselves "One of the Big 4 Florida Programs".
Boy, that didn't age well. Now, UCF is set to leave them behind.

Dragging feet on this was a major mistake. But there still may be time.
Based on how long it took to make any decisions, I would think that Memphis and Boise both have a pretty good idea that they're getting the next call up.

That would be good they need to upgrade they should have been done that years Ago maybe in the future since now it's two new pro football leagues Memphis might get a team the showboats could come back if the USFL stay long enough they going to bring in more teams because they own the rights to the showboats and other old USFL l teams

Every G5 would want to be in a P5 league even if they would only win three games each year due to the money 💰 otherwise Mizzou, Nebraska, Arkansas etc ought to leave their current conferences for more winnable pastures. Oh and Vandy should immediately join the ACC. Lol 😆
