i guess im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Archer Zahir Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thanks for the "How To" Carl. My wife has informed me that I will be making one of these. Looks like I will be watching this video and your other video a few times.
I referred back to this video way too many times but my first Cryptex is working smoothly and was lots of fun. Looking forward to doing a quicker job next time. Thanks.
Sir, you do beautiful, excellent work! I have learned so much on turning from your videos. I thank you so much for all your instruction and ask that you please keep sharing your great work!
Excellent!! I'm trying to gather some materials (mainly stable wood) so I could make me one of those (I'm saying me, but once the kids see it, it's going to be theirs...), but I have a special place in my heart for anything mechanical so it's only a matter of time till I take the plunge. Thank you Carl for sharing those tips and tricks, they will come on handy!! :) Yuval.
Great video. For Q and A, would you consider discussing which woods are easier to work with. For example, I was making pendants with palm and found that it kept fracturing. Thanks in advance.
Have you tried anything other than turning with palm. I found a log about 2' long and 12" across that's been sitting on the side of the road for about a year+ here in the Sacramento, CA area. Been wondering if it's usable for anything before I waste my time milling it down to usable boards. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Kyle, I've not tried much as I've only been turning about 6 months. I believe part of the issue is in the finishing process. I'm trying to design a jig that I hope will help (and by jig, I mean attaching oak planks to my chuck, turning a relief hole that will allow me to grip the pendants better, we will see). I have some rosewood and olive wood on stand by.
not the run of the mill game nor turning, I like the way it works always up for a brain teaser you did real well Carl I liked the way you finished the project
Following your old video and some magazine article, last month I've made one; I will upload the video in the next weeks... Cheers and thanks for sharing. Mauro
Very cool project I enjoyed it, I recently bought some green sycamore spindles on accident thinking they were dried. I am planning to make Christmas trees with it and I was wondering if it would be better to let them dry out or if I should turn them green. Thanks, Jacob
This would make an awesome family heirloom. I mean the physical cryptex was made official in what, just over a decade ago? This would be a pretty sweet thing to pass down.
My Dear Master and away Carl. Thank you from the botton of my Heart for is latest video Cryptex. Aber Sie Sind of Swedish origin? We live so far away, to far away......... ......... .......Passione Tornitura.
hey like your videos. Can you make one that you can change the password. so it's not the same word. have some smart kids that can remember passwords. lol
Thank you LeeAnn! You can make different codes work, but there's no way to change them. I'll talk about it on the follow-up. Here's a link to my Q&A channel just incase you don't have it ;)
shitposting aside, this was really cool as always, man! keep up the good work. also, idk if you are familiar with what they call "asmr" but basically I love watching raw, unedited lathe videos for that relaxing feeling it gives me. as awesome as these quicker, slick videos are, I'd love to see you release a raw, start-to-finish type video with all the noises and stuff. I do realize that's not what gets you 100k subs, but I have to mention it since you're such a master
Thank you Viru! I do release longer videos on my Q&A channel, but there's still some editing :) Here's a link, th-cam.com/users/Thetuningshop I'm also doing a full length DVD for this project with minimal editing, that will be up on my Etsy store soon.
Dear Carl Jacobson. I am a really big fan of your work and I really want to make a cryptex to, but I don't have tools for that. So I wonder if you could pleas make me one and send it to me, you probably won't. But if you will do that for me pleas react and I will give my email. Thanks for this video and have a nice day.

It really is a fun project, and Rosewood or Olive would be great.

Nice job and were do you get your wood
Thank you Luke! I picked up baseball bat blanks for the inner tubes. The other wood I've had for years.
Hello. What claw brand do you use in this video please ?
I think you're talking about the chuck? It's a Easy Wood chuck
@@CarlJacobson Yes sorry lol. Perfect, thank you !
Excellent...
Cheers...
Thank you Adam!
Very cool project I enjoyed it, I recently bought some green sycamore spindles on accident thinking they were dried. I am planning to make Christmas trees with it and I was wondering if it would be better to let them dry out or if I should turn them green.
Thanks, Jacob
Thank you Jacob! I would seal the ends and let them dry.
like that .... really nice ! Etsy lookout !
Thank you :)
Nice job Carl. Since the video goes kind of fast through things, might there be a written plan anywhere? Always wanted to try one of these.
Thank you Robert! I'm working on a DVD, and I'll be doing an Instructable.
Thanks Carl, keep us posted on your upcoming new video on the Cryptic procedure.
You've done that before. lol Good job, im gonna try when i get the right timber.
lol Thank you! A good straight grain hard wood works best.
fascinating
Thank you Trevor!
What did you use to finish it? I've been making wooden rings and I'm looking for durable finishes for them.
I would use something like a polyurethane for rings.
Carl Jacobson Thanks! I also tried Tung oil and that worked pretty well!
Zaco Cast i ditto the polyurethane or even acrylic varnish. it adds like a thin layer of plastic and you get a really nice finish!
This would make an awesome family heirloom. I mean the physical cryptex was made official in what, just over a decade ago? This would be a pretty sweet thing to pass down.
How long does it take you to complete one? This looks like a great gift.
They take about a day to make!
I would like to show you some of my work. Where do I send the pic's?
Hey John,

What's the name of the song playing throughout the video?

Thank you very much.
How do you change its password?
Interesting
Thank you Jerry!
I like these, but i am not going to attempt it any time soon. Too many things to go wrong.
Thank you Willem!
Nice project, very complicated though. With all those tubes and exact measurements it would be easy to screw up.
Thank you John!
hey like your videos. Can you make one that you can change the password. so it's not the same word. have some smart kids that can remember passwords. lol
Don't we all. They can't remember to do their homework but can remember a code they shouldn't even know. Lol
Thank you LeeAnn! You can make different codes work, but there's no way to change them. I'll talk about it on the follow-up. Here's a link to my Q&A channel just incase you don't have it ;)
Should of randomized the letters, complete words one after another would be to easy to crack but great craftsmanship.
saying should "of" renders your comment irrelevant
Alice's Chair go learn grade 2 english, dumbass
