Fun Fact: While not mentioned here on the video, the Shadow Sneak will also transform Rabbits, Bunny People and Spulmonkeys into their nightmare variants regardless of how much sanity the player/s have, in addition to the fear effect. This gives Maxwell players the ability to get Nightmare Fuel without having to fight monsters early on, it's also a slightly better source for Beard Hair and Monster Meat.
And this comment failed to add, that it gives these changed creatures guaranteed nightmare drops, even in cases where they otherwise wouldn't drop it. Which, does as the comment says it does.
The 3D scenes were very funny, although I kind of appreciated how unobtrusive the old stills were, this feels like it distracts a bit from the purpose of the video. Top tier content as always, however, keep up the good work!
To be honest I’d HAPPY take some distracting moments if I get to see DONT STARVE FREDDO IN THE ACTUAL GAME show up on my screen. Really? THAT!? THAT’S SO COOL! I LOVE THAT!!
You forgot to mention his 5th role. Nightmare fuel farm. This is GIANT, especially for the overhaul balance of the game. Maybe Klei will finally give us new methods to obtain fuel and MAYBE a Sanity rework, as you discussed long ago in your 2017-2018 video. One man can only hope 😔
First off, really cool 3D Freddo, it does add some uniqueness the change between 2D avatar, ingame character and real life person. Amd my thoughts about the Maxwell rework is; If they just made duelists' kiting pattern better it would have been cool, but good god they made them so much better, also yeah, why is shadow sneak called like that? Very confusing, Maxwell got the changes he always needed to stop feeling like a Wilson but with X items and crafts
Great video! If I had any comment on the irl footage I would say that maybe you should make you as a focus a bit smaller? It really makes yours own though, maybe if more of your torso was visible that would make it more natural. Overall great decision though!
Loving the aesthetics so far, the TV Head trope may have been done a lot back in the day but I don't I've seen it done this way before with this kind of Style. Really unique and pairs great with the editing, it was fitting that you got a refresh as well when covering Maxwell again given your history with the character. Definitely looking forward to whatever comes next Freddo.

I will miss the your beautiful 2D TV render, it was extremely iconic and made your videos what they were in my eyes. Your 3D self is truly beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it sometimes obscures 80% of the entire screen which is quite disorienting when watching the video. Aside from that I have zero complaints, this video is phenomenal, as all of your recent ones are.
Haven't played DST for a while (thanks, High School), but I'm considering playing a long-term world with the updated Shadow King during Winter Break. Just have to shake off the rust. Also, like the 3D attempt.

I like the new style and costume although I will say there is room for some improvement. I would try to make it a little bit more cartoony cause it's a very cool concept. Maybe make the tv wider or a different color so it doesn't blend in with your sweater. Idk just some ideas, good video 👍
Freddo, amazing vid as always. I could suggest painting colors of the TV screen with real paint OR sticking the pattern on the screen to avoid flares and flashes of light. Then It would be easier to balance better greenscreen because you'll be able to use more light without any fear of screen being to blinding for the viewer.

@@FreddoFilms In solo dst Webber is most likely the first to end up in the constant since you find his skull and you need to revive him, and Wilson basically started everything off so they may have more planned for them. Maybe not Webber but Wilson being such a key character within the story it doesn’t make sense for them to just forget to have him on the chess board.
Fun fact, if you had shadow puppets up before the rework they would not switch to their proper forms after the rework...atleast, when I checked right after the rework happened.

Honestly id prefer if you remained 2D. I liked the art style and it focused on the video subject a bit more. Gonna keep watching regardless and great video nonetheless !
I haven't weighed it but it only really makes my lower back sore after about over an hour of wearing it, so it's not super heavy most of the weight came from the crt mechanisms inside, including the screen :)
Funny you should compare Wanda and Maxwell, cuz they're basically the best combo in the game in my opinion. Other than Celestial Champ and Toadstool i don't see any boss even being able to fight Wanda from Max's cage. I've had a few boss runs with friends and it highlighted the stark contrast of singleplayer and multiplayer Maxwell. Singleplayer, i will say Maxwell is one of the most convenient, and versatile with the newly added abilities (early game, you can use shadow sneak on things like tallbirds and stuff for free stuff, or on clockworks in the ruins, making bishops just a joke now; and mid/late game you have bosses controlled by prison, and you can just play summoner class). Of course, you will have a bit of trouble getting nightmare fuel early on, but you can either choose to spawn 6 slav- i mean workers/fighters to forcefully lower your max sanity to 20. A trip to the ruins early on will do Max no harm either (especially against Ancient Guardian since duelists do not trigger shadow tentacles in phase 2). Later on, against other bosses, if you want to fight like a basic character against bosses you can, but Maxwell's magic will make short work of every boss, but you need to handle your sanity (cooked green caps or cooked cacti will help a lot), saving you on other rather hard-to-get resources, mastering Maxwell means you basically only ever need nightmare fuel, sanity, and shadow equipment for bosses. Of course, heavy emphasis on MASTERING, if you slip up at any point, if you don't have a fail safe you will pay a hefty price. In multiplayer, Maxwell is undeniably one of the best offensive support characters (yes you can choose to fight alone but why would you choose to do so your friends are just more slav- i mean power). You don't even need to get any equipment, just need to use shadow prison and any boss will melt, even beequeen. And due to how that works, your chances of slipping up is basically 0, just having to occassionally gaining sanity, or even have friends help out with nightmare creatures. The difference is night and day, Maxwell alone is able to do everything on his own! But just like the story, Max can always use some help when there are people around, which i find is super satisfying. This rework made Maxwell great alone or with others, just requires a bit of skill.
This is tough one. I have started to main both Wanda and Maxwell. With Wanda it's much harder to clear mobs (Try clearing a forest of level 3 spiders with her solo, even with old Wanda + good gears it's hard -- at least for the average player). Maxwell on the other hand has everything, resource management, mob control abilities, boss-soloing skills, the DPS but he takes forever to set up well imo. Ideally you want to rush shadow manipulator, get an ornery tamed beefalo, and do a ruins rush and AG by the first autumn. Hell, I've seen really good Maxwell's rush AG, and Fuel-weaver during winter. High skill ceiling but the reward is a late-game Maxwell by Klaus (War saddle ornery beefalo, with bone helm + bone armor). Wanda at her best also is still pretty hard to manage (and keep alive) because even with dark armor + crown you are still working with 35 ish HP. You need to be a kiting master and constantly look at her age. But then again with Wanda you can make a wormhole network which makes the entire game so much easier to traverse.

If you struggle with clearing spider dens just do it in the morning, and even at night as long as you dont hit spiders onthe webbing wanda is by far the 2nd easiest to clear with, behind wendy with some potions, as well as glands since shes killing spiders anyway. Either way in my opinion maxwell is the best since hes good at everything, but it requires more skill than wanda

I mean, clearly, Maxwell is just way better objectively speaking... Tame a beefalo by day 3-4, build a basic base, ruins rush by day 8-9 kill Ancient Guardian, day 12-15 get your tier 3 thucelite gear whose durability will never really decline and by the time you kill deerclops you will have an onery beefalo with ruins gear and shadow creatures nearly maxed. It's much harder to die as Maxwell. On the solo tier list he easily sits atop the list. With a beefalo he's just untouchable (How can you die in the ruins with a beefalo + moggles + shadow workers -- You can even wear a marble suit if you want to clear the ruins). That said, I prefer to play Wanda, ironically enough, when I play with others. It feels a lot more challenging because of her frailty. I don't rush ruins rush with her, just shadow manipulator rush to get Alarming Clock by day 5-6 and then I go to the archive to get more healing watches, a backstep watch, and stockpile fragments for future watches. I mean, this can all be done by day 12-15 by a casual player imo. The thing that makes this so much more fun is Wanda adds WAY more to the team than Maxwell. It makes the game more fun. Between creating an instant network between biomes, having the ability to res your party, everyone feels the difference. I usually play with my partner and she goes Wendy or Wigfrid so they compliment one another. A tank and a glass cannon. That's another thing. As Wanda you definitely feel 10x stronger in a team setting, especially with tanks. You clearly feel the difference as well. Add some spicy recipes, volt goat jelly, garlic powder, or some weather controlling stuff and yeah... Then she feels as God-like as Maxwell. I would choose that Wanda even over a bone-armored Maxwell on an ornery battle beefalo accompanied by 15 grumble bees ^__^.

I usually play with my partner and she goes Wendy or Wigfrid so they compliment one another. A tank and a glass cannon. That's another thing. As Wanda you definitely feel 10x stronger in a team setting, especially with tanks. You clearly feel the difference as well. Add some spicy recipes, volt goat jelly, garlic powder, or some weather controlling stuff and yeah... Then she feels as God-like as Maxwell. I would choose that Wanda even over a bone-armored Maxwell on an ornery battle beefalo accompanied by 15 grumble bees ^__^.
