You know his food passive is just a flat -3 health. You can still eat Jerky butterfly wings or other raw healing things. You just get a flat -3 health on top of the healing

first time i played this game as a kid a gobbler suddenly jumped out a berry bush and he scared me so much i didnt play the game for the next year

In addition to the three worlds, there’s also the “adventure mode” where you go into a structure and do a series of worlds revolving around different mechanics (such as permanent winter) where you find and enter another structure until you get to Maxwell (or die and end up back in front of the first structure). Might be neat to see if you can survive a year(or some other length of time) in each world before moving on.
Yeah might do adventure mode at some point! Again, been like 7 years since I did that :)
Wow, I didn’t know armour stacked in solo don’t starve. Also really clever way of doing one year per dlc and linking them all together. Can’t wait for shipwrecked!
for the hamlet video i suggest taking enough stuff to craft a bee box , as it's kinda broken but i think impossible to get in hamlet because no bees spawn without it
you can sell honey (just like berries) for 4 oinks to that one pig that likes sweet stuff , very good and worth it in my honest opinion
I suggest bringing a spider egg and pre-crafting a pig house too!

Yeah uhh.
craft a turf using the scale to get 6 turfs in total.
Get deconstruction staff and use it six times on your turfs.
Now you got 6 dragonfly scales. ;)

This is honestly a perfect time for a video like this for me, I just booted up don't starve solo after the first time in a few years after watching through your videos and was... pretty confused on some of the differences I found 😅 can't wait to see how you handle the DLCs, hoping you make it all three years!

things burn and cooldown a lot quicker in solo that's why the thermal stone and campfires arent as effective.

I’ve only played the original Don’t Starve (solo, no expansions). So it’s lovely to see you talk about the differences and engage with some of the older game features.
Maybe you should do a speed run of the OG absolute base solo game?
I only play solo but haven't played in a couple years - I just started a new game this week and then this video pops up. I've never not started in Autumn, so maybe that's a settings thing. I was surprised to see someone start in Spring. Always interesting hearing the differences between the two games!

Yep, turns out in solo DS wildfires can happen at any time. In DST they cannot which makes way more sense.
While I prefer Don't starve Together for most everything, I do still love the small details they added into classic Don't starve. Like how Wagstaff's infroggles (10:20) don't light up some creatures that are cold-blooded, instead of just acting like reskinned moggles. It's the little things!

Starting with DS and comparing to DST leaves some changes, like most of the enemies being much lower compared to DST is not really an advantage when it's the norm. So it's really weird to have this backwards perception when some people don't know stuff from DS, but know more than me in DST, and vice versa.
I definitely enjoy having the characters be separate from each game, as regardless of disadvantages it's interesting to see how to adapt and survive a whole in-game year differently when compared to their overhauled design in DST. Every reason to pick DST over DS is valid, but it's nice to have a refined journey over the classic dont starve experience.
Thank you for this! I just bought both DS and DST and I can not get DST to load a single player game, so I have been attempting to play DS. You make everything seem easy, lol. Looking forwards to the next episode.

i only stopped playing solo after the most recent update(with the together worldgen there wasnt really a lot to make rog worth playing anymore) in april and i was so happy to have bundles from regular bees for keeping things fresh as early as day one
RoG is in many ways better than DST. At least in DST, the developers broke a lot of mechanics, as well as the balance of different things and items. And the ruins in the DST are not even close to the steepness of the ruins of the DC

In solo you can stack thermal stones too, with a beefalo hat you can overheat even in winter

maybe itd wind up being not too interesting but i think itd be really fun to see trying to survive in the different adventure mode chapters; like trying to survive however many howevers per chapter. might be sort of boring for some of the easier ones but some like king of winter or darkness sound more interesting since itd be an actual challenge (no idea how one would survive in darkness or checkmate very long though)

I've never survived a summer in RoG I've recently made it to 100 days in original Don't Starve
As a friend used to say: "Winter is: Can you survive outside of base? Re: Hunting, killing McTusk, gathering grass and twigs away from base, etc. On the other hand, Summer is: Can you survive inside of base? Re: Flingo on, Endo fire - roaring, just farm your farms and grass/twigs, and wait."

once the islands mod came out for dst and i no longer had to go back to solo to play shipwrecked it was over for me, i played hamlet a fair bit when it came out but that was about it.

Hamlet's Aporkalypse spawns on Day 61, so migrating to Hamlet in a summer world could accidentally start the Aporkalypse
Yeah I gotta be mindful of that. When migrating to SW it started on day 16/15 of dry season.

If you play on PC there is a Hamlet Character mod that adds Wagstaff.
You said you don't wanna tame a beefallo for faster travelling but i think you forgot you cannot ride those in solo DS

@@BiddoBamss I hope the characters in solo will not be reworked. They are perfect. They have more disadvantages than in DST and do not have huge DST buffs. Very balanced. Valani and Woodlegs need a rework for RoG. And maybe Woodlegs for Hamlet
I'm very curious about your experience with Hamlet. I tried it once for a few minutes just like you, the trailer looked cool but I couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll give it another go
Honestly, it's hard to play RoG in Don't Starve, just because of the variety that dlcs provide. Still, og Don't Starve is much more peaceful then Together.
Not gonna lie the only thing that kept me going during winter was "i get to do shipwrecked soon :D"

Thermal stone not stacks in solo. And its good. Useless item with 120 insulation+ In DST is overpower... And durability its very small cost.

Sadly out of luck and only get the blurry rotation screen effect. :/

3:43 it’s a lot more common in the hamlet dlc to find peculiar objects, in fact it is only a feature you can even use in hamlet compatible worlds and I think it’s a glitch
I play Don't starve together first and then i play Don't starve singleplayer and i actually prefer the singleplayer version

I hate the combat in solo don't starve, monsters have way less health, but you can't cancel attacks, which drives me insane. It's even worse in the DLCs since things can now poison you, so taking the odd bit of damage you could have easily avoided in DST is even more infuriating. Also you can only craft one piece of flooring at a time, which is also unbearable in the DLCs because you need to turf up your base in shipwrecked because of monsoon season, that's something they really should have fixed in the recent QOL updated they did
Oh gosh yeah when I was trying to fight the beardlords it was a nightmare getting locked into an animation with them.
Cancel attacks its cancer man. And reducing the maximum hp makes adequate fights. And do not stand and tank the boss for 4 minutes or kill honestly in 30-60 minutes. ( Bee queen )

Due to the fact that the armor does not stack, players often choose the yellow amulet. Yes, and the balance of armor is made only for pvp, and not for multiplayer
