    You need to write a book on AK building. You would sell a ton! Excellent vids!

    Great tip! The last few barrels I've used had the gas port already drilled. Some times it works ok but other times I wish I would of been able to drill my own lol.

    Once again Mel great video as always many thanks. I hope you're ok about me sharing something here. A few weeks ago, as I was looking around on the web for gun parts, and I can't recall where I first noticed an offer for E-books under the name Kindle. To cut to the chase as I checked it out, there was available two very comprehensive AK build books. I won't claim to know them all but I have never seen a more detailed and simple how to build AK variants books than these. First volume of 750 pages has to do with mainly barrel population plus several other minor info. and specs. Volume II is titled "Building The Kit" covering once again in very fine easy to understand details with graphics the complete build. Both volumes written by Nicoroshi, and Guy Montag, 2013 copyright. Volume I was around $8 and II was around $10 through Amazon. I don't know yet if they are available in hard copy. Just a share tip, nothing more I have no vested interest, Just wanted to help in my own way. In my opinion these books compliment your videos. Mel, adding more how to info.

    That hole should be drilled at a slight angle as burrs will scratch every, single bullet going through there affecting flight path.

      I have done it both ways 90 and 45 degrees. I personally have not noticed any difference. But then again I am not strapping them down in a bench vise and going for accuracy. I agree though, if I were building a precision rifle I would do the slant hole.

      I’m no metallurgist, but It should make no difference. One side exiting in the barrel would be round (90) and one oval (angled), and both could potentially have burrs. Or not.

      @@nyc10021 plus wouldnt an angled hole have more surface area to catch?

    Does rear sight get pressed all the way till it stops on trunnion?

    • @Mel64d
      @Mel64d  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The section that slides in between the trunnion ears should be flush with the rear face (chamber side) of the trunnion.

      @@Mel64d ok good to know, see people press all the way on other videos.

    The angle of the gas block does not determine if it's a 74 or 47. Many AK 47 from Russia are 90 degree gas blocks. Just saying.
