I really recommend following the tips in the video. Writing out all the patterns I saw really did help in both practice and the real thing. I don't think i could have gotten 890 without doing that. Thanks for the video!
This popped up in my recommended 3 days before my UCAT and in my last few days I used these strategies and ended up with an 870 in AR! It was always my weakest area (when I first started practicing I was averaging 550-650) so these tips really helped.
It was good ty for asking! A lot better than BMAT. I’d say verbal reasoning was the hardest part. Keep practising situational judgement! I was a little disappointed with my result for it. I did well enough to get into a good UKCAT uni, so *keep practising* 🙌🏾
Aryan Sharma hi! i’d say focus on the areas where you feel you’re not so good at, and keep practising those sections. also come up with a strategy for the exam, for eg i found it was easier to read the q before i read the text. also if a q is hard, don’t spend too long overthinking the answer, this will make you doubt yourself, always go with your gut instinct. i gave myself a time limit for each question, so i had around 20 seconds for each q before i had to move on. this helped me make sure that i didn’t run out of time. also take an educated guess or use a process of elimination if the q is really hard! you don’t want to run out of time. make sure you keep calm during the exam too! anxiety and stress will cause you to panic, so just remember that you’re trying your best and that’s what counts! good luck ☺️
Ravi Parekh ye same I actually made a list before watching this video but my list is so long as it has so many variables it'll be rly hard to remember even half of them.
Truth is it's not really 13/55 minutes per question because most of the time, each of the A/B pattern has 5 questions for it. That makes gives you a minute or so to complete the entire set, so 40 seconds to identify the patterns and 20 to answer the 5 questions (because after knowing the patterns it's quite easy).
Just did my second mock and didnt do good, averaged 550(overall on all sections) and my test is on the 25th, 9 days, I started preparing for it a couple days ago as a late decision but I just wanna know if theres any way possible for me to be hitting 650 at least in the next 7 days, I bought medify today too. Update: Just did my test today and got 620 and a band 2 :D
I'm in the SAME situation as you are in...I got 570 in my first mock...and I'm not seeing any improvement in my AR...My test is on the 29th and I bought Medify today as well .
Btw I've heard ppl say that the real test is slightly easier than the mocks ...so I would advice you to keep calm. It depends a lot on luck as well....
Ok so I'm doing the new UCAT ANZ.... My question is do you get times separately for each section or is it just a set time of 2 hour or so and you need pace yourself?
Do you have any special tips for those taking the test this year, like I heard they banned the use of physical whiteboards so we only have the computer one.
My exam’s in 18 days and I just did a mini-mock and got 470 in abstract reasoning, I feel hopeless. I’m gonna follow all your tips and I’ll come back to this comment after my exam and say what I got in the section. It is honestly my worst section. I want to around 700-800 in abstract reasoning. That’s my goal. I’ll do A LOT of practise abstract reasoning questions everyday, hopefully it will pay off.
I'm assuming you practice with your personalised bank over a period of time. Then when you're ready for timed practice, you should be able to speed through your bank whilst doing the questions.
I'm writing my UCAT this year and I've started using your technique for abstract reasoning (writing all the patterns down) I have about 20-30 so far but everytime I do a question on medify I get different different patterns so the ones I've used so far can't apply to the question I'm attempting. did you notice any patterns between the ones you noted down and the ones you got on the UCAT. please help me AR is extremely difficult for me
I Used the ISC Medical School questions first to gain an understanding of the types of questions and the timing, then i used medify. Medify is the best thing you can possible use in my opinion. Overall last august i got 770, AR: 900, QR: 870, VR: 650 DM: 660, I would say my mistakes were not practicing enough verbal reasoning properly. Its difficult to read and process the information on medify because i found the texts were really long so a lot of my practice for those questions was guess work, but on the day, i found the texts were shorter but because i hadn't practiced it properly i still just kinda skimmed and guessed. I would recommend having some sort of technique which works for u and sticking to it for VR rather than doing guesswork. DM medify questions are just so varied and some came up like they did in medify others different. QR and AR i just practiced so many questions and got better and better. Also, use the mousepad on the RHS of the keyboard and become very used to it, it can save u loads of time. medify is fantastic because u constantly practice in timed conditions, u dont ave the option to keep going when time runs out and there are thousands of questions. But ultimately i got 4 interviews mostly due to my score on this so get medify for a month if u can and do all 4000 questions.
learn to utilise the keyboard numbers on the right hand side, if u get quick with em you can save lots and lots of time. also practice because u need to develop a certain way of thinking of picking out the relevant information and ignoring the useless bits. honestly its all practice, the harder u work the better u will do.

are you gonna do the bmat now? or retake the ukcat?
Do you have any special tips for those taking the test this year, like I heard they banned the use of physical whiteboards so we only have the computer one.

When you say refer to the list every time you do AR qs, wouldn't that take up too much time when you're doing timed practice?
I'm assuming you practice with your personalised bank over a period of time. Then when you're ready for timed practice, you should be able to speed through your bank whilst doing the questions.
If you don't know the answer to a question is it best to guess or leave it blank?
guess there is no negative marking so defo guess it!
Leave it blank-it's Always best to ensure yourself that you'll get it wrong
Daniella Omo alright no need to be sarcastic

Khasim Haider do you have tips for DM?
learn the different questions types and practice with medify
How did you revise for your ukcat? I got the book, is that enough?
do you have to get full marks for a score of 900?
No apparently you don’t need full marks from what I’ve been told
You need to do as well as the best person did in QR in 2006... It's a bit weird...
Do you get exactly the same questions from the book?
No the questions are different but some very similar there are thousands of potential combinations you can get
