- I solo hiked and backpacked the GR 57 Tour du Mont Thabor in August. The trail is 84km long, located in Hautes-Alpes, France. The starting point of the trail is in the town Névache. There are plenty parking lots to park your car for extended periods of time. Some are free some are paid.

Man, you should add this, but beware of the crowds during the summer months. I didn't enjoy the off leash dogs and screaming children and their running provoking my dogs hunt instinct,

Merci pour tes vidéos qui nous font voyage calmement ! Je suis en train de regarder pour organiser des vacances randonnées et la GR 57 me plaisait bien suit à ta vidéo et le fait qu'on puisse la faire en 1 semaine. Seulement quand j'ai contacté une agence de voyage spécialisée dans ce genre de projet ils m'ont répondu que ce n'était pas possible de faire l'itinéraire de la GR 57 avec un chien à cause des Patous. Ce qui m'étonne vu ta vidéo .. Tu aurais des agences, GR ... conseils pour organiser une GR en petit groupe ?

Usually f13-14 with an ND filter. I use rode video mic.

Hesitating as in seeing how to walk a certain path when it's pretty rocky, yes. But when hiking he never hesitates to follow me. He will never just stay somewhe😂. Once I'm 10m away he will follow me.

MOUNT THABOR 🇫🇷🇮🇹IN VALLE STRETTA, WHICH TAKES ITS NAME FROM AN ALTITUDE OF GALILEE
According to tradition, Mount Thabor, which rises over 3000 meters at the bottom of the Valle Stretta, above Bardonecchia, owes its name to a pilgrim returning from the Holy Land at the time of the Crusades, who noticed a similarity with the profile of the homonymous mountain of Palestine, where the Transfiguration of Jesus took place.
Mount Thabor (3178 m) is a mountain located in today's French territory on which a chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Seven Sorrows was erected.
Unfortunately, there is no trace of its construction, after a fire devastated the parish of Melezet with its archives. However, according to oral tradition, it seems that in the second half of the 1600s the chapel already existed, attracting numerous pilgrims from the Dauphiné, Savoy and the Bardonecchia valley.
The reference date is 1668, the year of the fire in Melezet for which the parish priest Don André took care of the reconstruction of the village but also of the chapel in bad condition. Many interventions have been carried out over the centuries, up to the last in 1998.
This chapel, the highest in France, located at 3178 m above sea level, is of great value as pilgrimages are organized every year by the inhabitants of Névache, Modane and Bardonecchia.
The need for safety is added to the religious importance since a shelter leaning against the chapel serves as a refuge for hikers in case of bad weather. Today this refuge is closed pending the necessary consolidation works: the structure is in fact at risk of collapse due to the progressive melting of the permafrost on which it is built, responsible for its progressive sliding downstream.
After the Second World War the Valle Stretta was annexed to France. Today the municipal assets in French territory have been almost totally returned to the municipality of Bardonecchia, except for the particles of the chapel and the refuge donated to the CAF (French Alpine Club), but still registered as state property.
These parcels belonged to the Parish of Melezet, but the archives disappeared in a fire and unfortunately there is no possibility of finding a title.
The French Foreign Ministry, consulted on the matter, confirmed that these parcels do not belong to them, and by mutual agreement on 17 December 2020 it was established that this chapel belongs to the Municipality of Bardonecchia.
