I am Italian and living in the north. I've never seen my dolomites in this way. This is exactly what I do when I go there. I walk alone, listening to the silence and watching the views, colors...good video indeed...thank you. This video is a gift to all of us...keep going...
I couldn’t say this better myself. My heart was bursting watching this, I’ve admired the Dolomites from the photos I’ve seen, but this! What an epic experience, and I felt it deeply.
Some random facts you might like: 1:24 This trip is mostly on the Alta Via 2 in the Dolomites, one of the tougher high routes in the area. I did not do the whole route however. I skipped several stages that are not as rough and extreme as these (ski areas for example). 2:36 What was on my mind here? Water! The Dolomites are made of very porous rocks, so there's very little water up there. I descended quite a bit before pitching my tent, but even here all the streams were completely dried up. Right after sunset, I packed all my water bottles and headed down the water. I expected to find water 2.5km down at a mapped spring, but luckily I found a brand new trough for cattle with clean water in it not too far down. Made my day. 5:10 I had my camera running here for about 10 minutes. Every time I stood up the crows would be scared off and not come back for 10 minutes. But once they returned they behaved like tamed animals. 8:50 The first real section of Via Ferrata! The Dolomites are full of sections with these steel guide lines. The sections on the AV2 aren't particularly hard and having a handrail like this gave me enough safety to not bring any climbing gear. This section was actually quite long (30min). 12:01 Ok this was funny. I hadn't seen anyone in these mountains for almost 24 hours when all the sudden a helicopter dives out of the valley, shoots over the edge without making gaining single meter too much, drops off several people and falls back down just as quickly as it came. Not sure what those people did there exactly, but it has to do with some maintenance of the refuge. 15:05 One of those moments I hike and suddenly see this perfect shot: these ibexes on a rock with the bivacco I'm heading to on the background. Then everything lined up perfectly to get this shot: the ibexes didn't move while I took of my bag, switched lenses and put up my tripod and the tripod was tall enough line up the bivacco perfectly with the ibexes. Lucky shot. 21:21 Right around here was the last time I saw someone for the next 48 hours. 23:18 I've fallen in love with these small red huts. Hard to reach, but at such beautiful and remote locations. This one was particularly beautiful. The was you hike sort of zigzag into this valley makes it that the bivacco is surrounded by vertical walls on all 4 sides. No phone reception and not a single sound expect for a few crows that stopped by. Magnificent. 25:20 22 kilos on my back feels like nothing by now. But having to hold it above my head. Whatta?! 27:40 'Highest effort'-shot I did this trip, in terms of walking distance. But only about 8 minutes back and forth. 27:59 This campingside was actually plan B. Plan A was another bivacco high up on the mountain. I got within 300 horizontal meters before finding myself at the edge of a 200m wide ravine with pinnacles several hundreds of meters tall. As it turned out (I didn't do my homework properly): it's only accessible by a climbers route.

In the tunnel at 34:31, I once seeked shelter form a thunderstorm during the night. I had to leave my tent and got in there and I had to endure for 3 hours until the thunderstorm was finally over, it was one of the most frightening experiences in my life. It was very intense to see that location again. Thanks for sharing this video, it's another great one...
Hey, quick question is “wild camping “ or basically just setting up the tent allowed there? I’m very new to hiking and stuff but considering of doing this in summer since I got relatives who live there and also of course practicing before this hahah
@@noraasmethane8736 I am not sure. I have looked for information about that back then but couldn't find any conclusive info. So I just did it. I was there in May, there were not many people around and of course I practice "leave no trace", that is, don't litter and leave everything as it was before or cleaner/better. In summer, it is more crowded there and you might run into people that are annoyed by your tent or rangers or so. Not sure. You might want to set up your tent way off the trails in that case.
To think that he had to decide the location, set up the Camera , Then walk , then come back and then grab the camera and again walk forward is just astonishing ! Plus, the shots are perfect!
Harmen, really appreciate all the hard work hiking, climbing and getting all the terrific shots for this breathtaking video 😮. Loved the red huts along the way and of course the Dolomites were awesome 😊 Thanks for such a great trip and to many more adventures around the world. 👍🏻🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸
this is a fucking masterpiece of a video , holy shit I could not take my eyes off, the amount of perfect shots in this is just too much well done on your amazing cinematography skills
I am new to your channel, not anymore. This should win an Oscar or some such high level accolade from movie makers. Thoroughly enjoyable. As we all know even on the days when we aren't personally out on the trails, watching 1/2 hour masterpiece like this gives some nice fraction of feeling and benefit as the real thing. How much fun this would be.
Your sense of cinematography is incredible. The way you blend with music is even more mesmerizing. God gives you the immense power to create such astonishing visual art. Thank you. Watching from another side of the world.
All the films you make are masterpieces. "The Dolomites" is the most aesthetic and perfectly pure film. You make the mountain even more beautiful, it is sublimated by your effort to discover it, alone, when it starts to protect and hide itself.
When I was yung (now I'm cose to 70) I passed a lot of time walking up and down in the dolomites. There weren't the fantastic devices the there are now for recording and the cameras was too much expensive for my pockets. I'm gratefull to you for recording some of moments that I passed too. You can be considered one of the best ambassador of the our wonderfull mountains that I've ever meet. Thank you again.
yes, but NOT having a camera allows us to be absorbed more into the silence and peace of the moment . putting a camera between your eyes and nature does produce a slight distraction , which is enough to prevent falling deeper into the fullness of HERE. i've been in some of the most beautiful places on the planet in my 78 years and not one photo to prove it . never the less it's etched deep in my mind and heart and available for recalling at any moment . 🙏

@@t0mwhazzup ooooh interesting!! Thank u for the tips!! I think I will just ask the tourism office there hope it’s partly tolerated or allowed haha.
@@noraasmethane8736 Good luck! 🙂
tes vidéos sont à couper le souffle mec , un grand moment de sérénité à chaque fois !!
Those red bivaccos are my favorite! They are in such cool places, with just enough comfort. Thanks for the comment and compliments!
Mmmm, not sure he considers it work😀
Thank you so much for making these video’s. I’m a bit burned out and your videos make me relax ❤
I'm so glad!
this is a fucking masterpiece of a video , holy shit I could not take my eyes off, the amount of perfect shots in this is just too much well done on your amazing cinematography skills
Hahaha, thank you man!
Great film 👍
Thanks!
Thanks Jon!
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Your sense of cinematography is incredible. The way you blend with music is even more mesmerizing. God gives you the immense power to create such astonishing visual art. Thank you. Watching from another side of the world.
Thanks a lot 😊
@@HarmenHoek wow reply from the man himself. Beautiful...

Muchas gracias! :D
Well done Bud. Live the dream.
Just wow! Was visiting the Dolomites this summer, sadly only for 3 days. But this wants me to go back there so badly! Keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
Sehr schöne Aufnahmen und einer der schönsten Video über die Dolomiten! Liebe Grüße aus Kärnten 👍🙋♂️🇦🇹
All the films you make are masterpieces. "The Dolomites" is the most aesthetic and perfectly pure film. You make the mountain even more beautiful, it is sublimated by your effort to discover it, alone, when it starts to protect and hide itself.
Enjoyed reading this, thanks (:
