Press and Hold E and you will always grab the Zipline. You don't need to time it and press E at the perfect moment. Just press and hold and the Dwarf will grab.
Gunner protip: even though your deployable shield is not effective against "stomp" attacks from bulk detonators, oppressors, and dreadnaughts, the initial deployment of the shield will cause an animation cancel as the enemy is forced to stop and walk away, allowing you to create incredibly useful openings in combat.
On a related note, you can use the shield to create a sort of area-denial bubble for things like bulks: they won't move through it, and if you deploy it ON them it fears them for a few seconds. You can use that to force a bulk to leave you alone if you get cornered, or if it's going to die soon and you need it further away, etc. Or if you're in a small tunnel, you can use it to plug the entrance/exit while you run away.
friendly fire damage of autocannon is removed because when the gunner shoots nearby enemies with autocannon, he will also deal splash damage to himself, which makes the autocannon pretty annoying to use.
Also you can carry doretta's head with you into the droppod after the mission's finished and it will be displayed along with all the dwafs on the mission copletion screen

It's a ranged weapon attack, so getting stuff high up is easier than climbing/drilling to it, and it's an explosion so it drops half to a full vein in moments, versus taking half a minute or more to laser it out, or a LONG time mining it by hand.

Cool tips I picked up from veteran players.1. If you spin the mini gun as gunner it does does not have a spin time.2. If want to hear more of the smart stout voice lines go to drink it at the character select or load out select area and switch before ending. 3. Shields don’t work on the detonator due to AoE effects.
Fellow dwarves, when did you find out that you can Rock and Stone with Bosco? I do this all the time and he does that cute little salute and waves around himself
In Escort Duty you can pick up Doretta's head and bring it to the drop pod after the extraction of the Heartstone and get rewarded with her head appearing at the victory screen.
Another trick is that you can heat up teammates with the flamethrower before they freeze completely. For example, this is helpful during a blizzard in glacial strata. Cool list.
Pro tip: every time you reload, you don't have to actually wait for the animation to finish to shoot again, when the counter says the gun has reloaded, just cancel the animation by swapping to another gun and then choosing that gun again. This can also be done with the pickaxe, so you just have to press right click once and the animation will be canceled When done consistently this will slightly increase your damage output :)
Lol, I actually knew it since I started the game, kind of habit of mine to skip reload animations in video games, for no reason i could just swap to melee and back to main
The sync between the song and the video at 0:10 - 0:25 blew my mind. I was eating a sandwich and I had to stop like WHAT is this channel?!?! Fits the whole cave vibe LOVE IT
Also know that if someone gets frozen from the Drillers cannon or Scout grenades, you can pickaxe bash them out of it instantly. I do this whenever I accidentally freeze someone but I've NEVER seen anyone do the same for me. Meaning not enough people know this. Another important one is that Doretta only benefits being healed by 1 dwarf at a time, it doesn't stack like it does with every other build/repair mechanic in the game. Also dont place platforms where shockwaves from a phase will destroy them. They suck as shields, they'd be 1000% more useful routing the bugs
A very useful tip if somewhat hard to get used to: Selecting the toggle Laserpointer setting in the control settings menu will mean that the highlights of key objects (ie resupplies) and the symbols that mark your teammate's location will note go away. Takes some getting used to if you have been holding down to use Laserpointer but worth it in my opinion, just be sure to click it again when a new player/supply drop entered the game.
when playing the scout I have also found out that the hook shot can cancel fall damage by using it before you hit the ground and you can also cancel fall damage by doing the animation where you climb an edge (when you are close to an edge that is a little bit higher then you I think you might have to press space.)
A build I’ve been enjoying: You can get a lot of health easily when you run cryo cannon, axes, and vampire. Freeze enemies and kill them with melee or axes, which have their damage buffed against frozen enemies. Combo this with Iron Will for an easy source of health to keep you alive permanently.
Wow, I got all the way up to the first gold star on driller and I had no idea about the impact axe plant-killing thing. Good video! Learned something extremely useful.
Hey dude, great video! Some of your tips are things that newer players don't notice for quite some time so it's great to see people spreading the information around. Hell, I'm 540 hours in and didn't know that tip about hitting Space in the Terrain Scanner. I'd particularly like to praise how concise you were with the information and how quickly you jumped into providing it from your intro. A couple points if you decide to make another video: The Neurotoxin Canaster being flammable has an interaction most people don't know about. The grenade explodes when the cloud takes enough Fire damage, and the AOE from the Experimental Plasma Charger deals partial Fire damage to be able to detonate the cloud with two charged shots (one if using the Overcharger OC with a charged shot damage mod). The Thin Containment Field implosion deals 240 Fire damage which is well above the threshold needed to detonate the cloud. Most weapons fully reload before their animations are finished such as the Engineer's shotgun which is reloaded as soon as the magazine is reattached to the weapon and before the pumping animation starts. The player can cancel these animations to speed it up by right clicking or flicking their Laser Pointer. Some semi-automatic weapons can even fire faster with this method of reload cancelling such as the Engineer's platform gun. Heck, even the Pickaxe's backswing can be cancelled this way and will swing significantly faster. Firing a gun will stop your sprint, but only when you fire from the ground. If you fire a weapon while airborne you will not only maintain your sprint speed until you land but will also be able to continue the current sprint if you stop shooting just before landing. This can be extremely useful for kiting groups of enemies while whittling down their numbers. And unfortunately one correction to be made: The Gunner's minigun does heat and cool linearly, but its heat gauge displays it differently. It has a maximum heat of 9.5 and gains 1 heat per second (1.5 heat per second with Burning Hell which adds +50% heat and not the +150% it displays). It loses 1.5 heat per second just as the weapon displays but if it overheats then it will lose heat slower and take 10 seconds to cool off. The Cold As The Grave mod makes the minigun lose 0.8 heat whenever it kills an enemy. Though the good news is that this means that burst firing the Minigun is extremely efficient and allows for players that are good at B-hopping to move at full speed while spraying a full stability minigun down range. In fact even the Lead Storm overclock can be utilized with no movement penalties when the player is good enough at B-hopping because it only stops them from inputting additional movement rather than halting momentum.
The plasma secondary can mine outcrops and remove terrain with the thin containment field. But it is a tad tricky to time it right since you also have to shoot the charged shot before it hits the target and within the blast radius of the shot.
Some other mechanics i've found myself: While heat re-gen by the minigun is linear with time since you held fire, heat-gen is also dependent on how long you hold down fire, it is (technically) possible to press the fire button for such a short time that you fire without generating any heat. it will also fire faster than a normal minigun. (i have done so using button press macros, yes, i've reported this, it hasnt been fixed yet. this will also lead to a bug where you will try to fire the minigun but only generate heat instead.) In the same macro vein: B-hopping is possible by timing your jump (or, you know. macro usage), this allows you to retain some movement in the directon you were moving, and allows you to move a bit even with weapons that stop/slow-down movement (Minigun with lead storm OC and so on) edit: i forgot to add that macro usage can let you instantly deposit your entire inventory of minerals (buggy, only works if you are host)
Gunner shields can also deflect the clusterbombs from bulks. Just remember that AoE attacks like explosions and pretorian breath attacks will still go through shields. Also knockback based enemies can go through the gunner shield, such as shellbacks and trawlers
I want them to add a passive to every dwarf gunner gets damage reduced. Driller gets flares faster. Scout takes refused fall damage. Engineer gets faster interact times with objectives.
Engineer bit: If using shoot-on-turret mods or oc (turret whip mod on warthog, or OCs on stubby), it works on other engineer's turrets too. Go for a full engi team and start an 8 turrets freakshow, particularly with turret arc oc. Cool video, glad i found it!
u can grab doretta's "head" after completing the core extraction and take it to the drop pod. saved doretta's head will be shown at the mission results screen
Driller tip: if you have the thin containment field upgrade for the plasma charger, you can mine with it. It's a very fast way to mine but ammo consuming.
Interestingly, fall damage is based on speed, so you can harm yourself by blasting into the ground, or cancel all damage by grabbing a ledge. A few more methods to cancel fall damage include; grinding on rails, bouncing on enemies, bouncing on fellow dwarves, catching a zipline, ledge grabs, grappling towards the ground as scout, and a handful of overclocks that slow or stop you
I might just be an old dwarf who's been playing since beta, but i didnt know these were hidden mechanics, i always thought they were just neat little details.....also apparently a good lot of greenbeards dont know you can fly with cave angels, had a rookie shoot me down while i was scouting the wield on a cave angel because he thought it was like the grabbers.
Another way to break your fall, if you can get your dwarf to go right near the edge of a ledge *as you’re falling* you’ll climb that ledge instead. Too far and you’ll continue to fall, over the ledge itself and you’ll just take fall damage on that ledge.
Fun fact, when the drill dozer is destroyed after breaking a heart crystal, the head (dorreta) is ejected, and you can carry it back to the shuttle, and it shows up in the victory screen. Just a little detail for those who are sad when it dies.
You bounce higher if you jump on another dwarfs head, you can do a massive double jump if the dwarf below you jumps while you’re just after the peak of your first bounce. Great for having Gunners/Drillers that need up to a higher place if the engineer is out of platforms.
- The driller can very quickly open ebonuts with his drills. - Empty ebonut plants can be destroyed by mining, so you won't mistake them for full ones - Doretta can be protected partially from the rocks by putting platforms above it. - You can reload some weapons faster by switching back and to that weapon as soon as the magazine is inserted (cancelling the rest of the reload animation) - Anyone can detonate the Plasma Chargers projectile by shooting it. - Freezing an enemy on fire or visa-versa will apply an effect called "heat shock", that quickly deals a large burst of damage. This can be infinitely repeated on the same enemy. - Engineer's "Turret Whip" consumes 10 turret ammo per shot. - Scout's IFG gives all enemies a 30% HP debuf in addition to slowed while in the area.

I'm gonna have to remember CTRL+E, having to run from swarms sometimes makes me forget some things until I'm running to the Drop Pod and see it again but now there's a time limit and no Molly to deposit into.
Tip I heard mentioned once but never seen anywhere else that I need confirmed: You can bring the Drilldozer's head back to the drop pod after the Drilldozer explodes?
as scout with the hoverclock for M1000 you can hold LMB just before hitting ground from big height then rightclick to full cancel the height damage. engineer shotgun fires more concentrated shots in the corners of the AIM Icon so it's viable long range as long as you are precise (it has fixed spread)
Problem is the hoverclock acts different if you're host or client. I can't remember which off the top of my head host/client wise, but one resumes your falling velocity after shooting & the other resets your fall speed after the shot.
you can get steves of various medium sized glyphids notably the guard. left trigger and the reload button on controller to get your waypoint gunner has flame grenades as an option so flammable stuff from the driller section also applies
also now when bosco is carrying stuff, when you press x, he actually even throws what he is carring to you. so you don't have to wait for him to slowly aproach you with aquark.
Fun fact: if you take dorreta’s head after completing the mission and take it to the drop shop where you leave the mission she shows as a little head to the bottom left of the screen at the mission overview when you get your xp and evaluation.
i feel alot of people dont realise that when reloading once you slot the magazine in the ammo count updates but usually you still have a couple more seconds of reloading but you can pull out your pickaxe and it updates as if you finished the reload animation
The axe thing was due to the way pickups used to work. There was a brief time when pickups weren't instant, and instead you had to hold the button for like a second. The game would also halt your momentum when you started grabbing, which is why the fall break worked. They removed it pretty quickly, mostly because it SUCKED

Lol, I actually knew it since I started the game, kind of habit of mine to skip reload animations in video games, for no reason i could just swap to melee and back to main
Concise and clear and well edited! Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to watch more!
The drop pod will almost certainly land near the furthest morkite pump in refinement missions
A build I’ve been enjoying:
You can get a lot of health easily when you run cryo cannon, axes, and vampire. Freeze enemies and kill them with melee or axes, which have their damage buffed against frozen enemies. Combo this with Iron Will for an easy source of health to keep you alive permanently.
Nemeses will go after engineer's lures. Putting down two of them means they won't grab anyone else.
I really liked the fast pace style of the video, really useful too :D
Wow, I got all the way up to the first gold star on driller and I had no idea about the impact axe plant-killing thing.
Good video! Learned something extremely useful.
Hey dude, great video! Some of your tips are things that newer players don't notice for quite some time so it's great to see people spreading the information around. Hell, I'm 540 hours in and didn't know that tip about hitting Space in the Terrain Scanner. I'd particularly like to praise how concise you were with the information and how quickly you jumped into providing it from your intro.
A couple points if you decide to make another video:
The Neurotoxin Canaster being flammable has an interaction most people don't know about.
And unfortunately one correction to be made:
The Gunner's minigun does heat and cool linearly, but its heat gauge displays it differently.
You can-, scratch that. You have to bring dorrettas head back to the escape pod
The plasma secondary can mine outcrops and remove terrain with the thin containment field. But it is a tad tricky to time it right since you also have to shoot the charged shot before it hits the target and within the blast radius of the shot.
Some other mechanics i've found myself:
While heat re-gen by the minigun is linear with time since you held fire, heat-gen is also dependent on how long you hold down fire, it is (technically) possible to press the fire button for such a short time that you fire without generating any heat. it will also fire faster than a normal minigun. (i have done so using button press macros, yes, i've reported this, it hasnt been fixed yet. this will also lead to a bug where you will try to fire the minigun but only generate heat instead.)
In the same macro vein: B-hopping is possible by timing your jump (or, you know. macro usage), this allows you to retain some movement in the directon you were moving, and allows you to move a bit even with weapons that stop/slow-down movement (Minigun with lead storm OC and so on)
edit: i forgot to add that macro usage can let you instantly deposit your entire inventory of minerals (buggy, only works if you are host)
Gunner shields can also deflect the clusterbombs from bulks. Just remember that AoE attacks like explosions and pretorian breath attacks will still go through shields. Also knockback based enemies can go through the gunner shield, such as shellbacks and trawlers
"You can pet-" **You dare put this in the just for fun portion? This is REAL shit**
My lures have definitely at least been grabbed by a Nemesis.
Love these little tips :) I learned several new things ^^ keep up the great work ^^
The electric crystals in crystalline cavern can be destroyed by impact axes from driller. Takes ~4 axes, but can be retrieved after throwing them.
Damn you can produce a video- the music, atmosphere and tone- talent. (also a lot of good info R+S!)
Your teammates can NOT see your permanent waypoint, important.
u can grab doretta's "head" after completing the core extraction and take it to the drop pod. saved doretta's head will be shown at the mission results screen
Pretty straightforward and educational.
I like it.
Keep it up mate
holy shit i learnt a lot in the general, espcially the terrain scanner and the permanent waypoint. THANK YOU!!!
You get 100,000 style points for using Secret of Mana music 👍
Only started playing this game a few weeks back, really fun and stylish, cool vid.
Want a big TH-cam channel? Want ads to pay you? Want lots of subscribers and a fan base?
Keep making videos like this.
Easily the most useful video I’ve seen about this game, thank you!
Virtually any surface that isn't past a 90 degree slope can be spam jumped up with enough precision.
You can damage Doretta by going underneath her and hitting the bottom
Driller tip: if you have the thin containment field upgrade for the plasma charger, you can mine with it. It's a very fast way to mine but ammo consuming.
on the pipes, if you hold E the whole time, you will automatically get off at the next spot that needs building or fixing
That's seems pretty useful
Too far and you’ll continue to fall, over the ledge itself and you’ll just take fall damage on that ledge.
fun fact: lootbugs will gather around loose minerals. i like to call these mineral fiestas.
Fun fact, when the drill dozer is destroyed after breaking a heart crystal, the head (dorreta) is ejected, and you can carry it back to the shuttle, and it shows up in the victory screen. Just a little detail for those who are sad when it dies.
Note: The Gunner’s Shield will defend you from a Detonator’s Shrapnel. The first explosion that spawns the Shrapnel will ignore Gunner Shields.
Another very helpful tip is if you ping a pipeline bosco will build it (not place it down of course)
This game is seriously overlooked!!! I just got my friends and I to get it and we are having a blast! Thanks for the tips!
- Empty ebonut plants can be destroyed by mining, so you won't mistake them for full ones
- Doretta can be protected partially from the rocks by putting platforms above it.
- You can reload some weapons faster by switching back and to that weapon as soon as the magazine is inserted (cancelling the rest of the reload animation)
- Anyone can detonate the Plasma Chargers projectile by shooting it.
I played secret of Mana in my childhood and completely forgot it existed, i heard the audio and it brought back so many memories. Off to go see if i can download it again.
You can rescue Loretta after completing the escort by taking her back to the escape pod.
She gets her own little space on the results screen.
Thanks for linking this video in your 2nd one.
Damn this was really informative! Keep it up!
(Oh and Ebonites used to be tameable, I believe it was changed. Also the Pick-upable Lure I think was a Dev Bug, you can see it on their twitter)
I'm gonna have to remember CTRL+E, having to run from swarms sometimes makes me forget some things until I'm running to the Drop Pod and see it again but now there's a time limit and no Molly to deposit into.
3:40 you can actually use this animation to get full spin instantly
Tip I heard mentioned once but never seen anywhere else that I need confirmed: You can bring the Drilldozer's head back to the drop pod after the Drilldozer explodes?
as scout with the hoverclock for M1000 you can hold LMB just before hitting ground from big height then rightclick to full cancel the height damage.
engineer shotgun fires more concentrated shots in the corners of the AIM Icon so it's viable long range as long as you are precise (it has fixed spread)
Problem is the hoverclock acts different if you're host or client. I can't remember which off the top of my head host/client wise, but one resumes your falling velocity after shooting & the other resets your fall speed after the shot.
you can get steves of various medium sized glyphids notably the guard.
left trigger and the reload button on controller to get your waypoint
gunner has flame grenades as an option so flammable stuff from the driller section also applies
also now when bosco is carrying stuff, when you press x, he actually even throws what he is carring to you. so you don't have to wait for him to slowly aproach you with aquark.
Fun fact: if you take dorreta’s head after completing the mission and take it to the drop shop where you leave the mission she shows as a little head to the bottom left of the screen at the mission overview when you get your xp and evaluation.
i feel alot of people dont realise that when reloading once you slot the magazine in the ammo count updates but usually you still have a couple more seconds of reloading but you can pull out your pickaxe and it updates as if you finished the reload animation
this is called animation cancelling.
@@warmbeer2 yeah right
@@joehuntly8506 he’s right.
A+ Video, good to see the massive amount of positives on Cryo getting a signal boost
Bit regarding minigun heat no longer applies so feel free to fire in burst.
Extra tip for engineer turret whip can be used on other engineers turrets as well
Secret of Mana music right off the bat and I'm hyped.
Oh and nice tips too I guess
The axe thing was due to the way pickups used to work. There was a brief time when pickups weren't instant, and instead you had to hold the button for like a second. The game would also halt your momentum when you started grabbing, which is why the fall break worked. They removed it pretty quickly, mostly because it SUCKED
A tip I found out: when repairing and constructing pipelines, if you press E to grind on them then hold E, You will stop at the nearest broken or unbuilt pipe segment
Good video! i have 700 hours and didnt know the spacebar thing whil looking on the map! Rock and Stone Brother!
Drinking a Wormhole Special right after downing a Flintlock's Delight can will launch the recently teleported miner in and around space, allowing for some rather enjoyable sightseeing.
All in all, there might be more drink combinations which ensure hilarity.
Also hover boots exist. Never see anyone use em
