    I would love to know what kind of epoxy Excalibur is using inside the quill arrows because even with heat, they are next to impossible to remove . If u do manage to get one out the arrow is warped and you have to cut back about an inch or more. I guess im better off getting the zombie slayers with a brass insert already installed. Thanks Rich :)

      Yeah they're a bugger to get out. 😕 they aren't gonna fall out that's for sure!

    Just think, without crossbow hunting you wouldn't have a 2nd generation hunter. Moreover, the world gained a young talented taxidermist. 👏🏻

    I dip the bolt in water to cool it off fast after I pull insert .

    Will this tool fit and work with all arrows? Like my Mission sub 1 arrows for instance?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it will...it screws in like a broadhead or a field point. There's a separate thread included that does not fit my arrows so that probably fits some other setup too.

    Thanks, Rich for another AMAZING and informative video! I just bought an Excalibur Micro Mag 340 (My first crossbow ever) and I was wondering if there's a place to order all the components for carbon fiber bolts wholesale? (Kinda like how Jann's Netcraft and Bass Pro do for fishing) I'm thinking this may be a way to save some serious $$$ and at the same time assemble a custom bolt with all of the best individual parts that match my preferences. Thanks for any advice - and thanks for all of your wonderful videos! And a big CONGRATULATIONS to Genevieve for her wonderful accomplishment! It's comforting to know that there are still artists out there who appreciate the "old" ways to preserve our hunting memories to last for generations

    Howdy Rich congratulations on your new position, upright I hope😂. Anyway I watch this video when it first dropped because I was having trouble getting the inserts out of my pro flights. The tool looked suspiciously like a soldering iron from harbor freight, so I went out there and bought one for ten bucks and guess what fell apart while I was pulling an insert. Boy you can't get anything decent for ten bucks anymore!! So on eBay this tool is sixty or seventy dollars do you think the quality is that much better than the harbor freight version? Interested to hear what you think before I drop the big bucks. Thanks

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is just a soldering iron with a customized head on it but I'm not very handy with making stuff so that's why I went and bought one

    In your food plot video I made mention of not using glyphosate. I didn’t say it to offend you in any way, just so you know. If you haven’t heard about the PFA issue in Maine. We are having a lot of areas being deemed not safe to hunt due to chemicals that were dumped over the years. That’s why I mentioned it. It’s just a concern of mine.
    I luckily have a tractor and tiller, along with a drag blade. So, I just till in fall where I want to grow the following year. Then till again in spring to soften it up. I get grass and weeds but, it never harms the food plot growth.

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No offense taken whatsoever! Roundup isn't a bit concern for the soul I don't think but if mechanical weed control works for you, go for it! I hope your foodplots are banner!

    So I gotta ask, why purchase Pro Flights (BE Executioner shaft) and then swap out both front and rear components? You can just buy the exact same end result from Dave Wilkins.

      great question! I already had these proflights, stock from Excalibur, and we decided to increase the weight, so rather than just set them aside we rebuilt them. I even cut down some 20 inchers for her last year. But this year i ALSO bought some zombie slayers, increased weight up front, from Dave at Wyvern for Bunjie! Another great option.

    I tried this tool on Gold Tips and it does not work well. It ends up causing one of the internal layers of carbon to unravel where it is heated. And, I only left it in the insert the very minimal amount of time until the glue started to release so I don't believe it was user error.

    That is a slick soldering iron tip! I work with a soldering iron for my job weekly but never saw a tip that was threaded! Is that an actual soldering iron tip or just a threaded piece that fits in an iron? Where can I get one? It would be great for indexing inserts on flyer arrows. That’s the slickest way I have seen to unglue inserts!!! Thanks for posting.

      Yea I got all the stock piledriver inserts out tonight with my work soldering iron. Very easily drill bit didn’t work on the first one so just went with it on all 3 and what I think is a flyer. I have a vise so made it easier. Opened a gap between point and insert then placed iron in that gap and indexed it after about 20 sec. Tip of point in the vise. Once heated good tighten down and pull on the arrow. Worked great.

    Simple IS better. Lol
    Liking the soldering iron with the threaded piece on the end......I never thought of doing that. I'll have to give that a try....I've always screwed a steel practice tip in the inserts and flat nocks and heated with a small propane torch. Been doing that for many years.
