They forgot the time when a disabled guy was being lifted in his chair by his friends to get close to Dave. A security guard tried to interfere & Dave cursed the guard a blue streak!
there was one year at ozzfest back in 03 maybe 04 in San Antonio that I was at and David stopped the show and asked the crowed to pull a disabled person in a wheel chair on stage. I was 13 or 14 years old and was in all.. "anyone that's in a wheel chair in one of my pits can share the stage with me any day!" This was before the fancy smart phones if not im more then sure that would have been a viral video for sure.
As a wheelchair user myself, that's awesome to hear!

Is it just me, or does David have a rather smooth, soothing speaking voice? Does singing impact your speaking voice at all? Because I noticed The Weeknd also has a rather angelic, smooth speaking voice, and both David and Abel have great singing capablities. I don't know if I'm explaining it right, but there's a certain charm to their voices.
Yes. This is why Michael Jackson spoke with such a high pitch voice so we would be able to sing at the pitch he sung at. MJs real voice was actually deep.
It has a huge effect, I had a friend of mine go to a school to help him sing better for a summer and after he came back, he sounded like a completely different person.

He does. Some voice teachers have listened close to Sound of Silence and noted there are "mouth sounds" in there that indicate very little was done in post production.

I'd say Draiman's recent rendition of The Sound of Silence is pretty unforgettable as well.
I love the original, and I have to say, their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" was amazing. Beautiful, moving, full of power and emotion. Gives me chills every time I hear it. I normally strongly dislike most covers I hear, but that....was pure magic.

There's actually a lot of truth to that. When I was evolving into the metal scene in 83-84ish I felt the music just had more brain power involved. At that point I was already very keyed in to the likes of John Denver, Peter Paul & Mary, The Beatles/John Lennon, Johnny Cash Simon & Garfunkle, Joe & Eddie and alike. I knew the power of intelligent lyrics. I was seeing it in a lot of metal at the time. Then I found Iron Maiden. Just about every one of their songs is taken from history, literature and epic poetry. Mental midgets don't pay attention to those things.
Keep in mind when I say "metal" I'm talking about the full spectrum. from hair bands to thrash and beyond.
Now I look back 30 years later and can see that the bands that really didn't have anything important to say are gone. Forgotten by everybody. Some of those bands had a couple songs that had something intelligent to say and we remember the songs. Not the band. The more intelligent the artists, like Disturbed, the longer they last.
Current guys that are going to be around in 30 years....

1:00 this kind of confirms my assessment of David as a sort of modern Robert Plant. He can rock and scream like few others but has such an incredible technical ability that he can sing just about anything. Plus both evoke emotion maybe more than any other singers of their respective eras.

This is the first time I have witnessed any interview of David, I find him to be a level headed, passionate, as well as compassionate, free-thinking individual who appreciates all individuals collectively. He does not seem to exercise the unnecessary drive of emotionalism that unfortunately so many to be addicted to. I am grateful to have taken the time to visit this and a few other insightful snapshots capturing the man David Draiman and not just the frontman.

I’ll agree with you there. Disturbed is pretty fuckin’ awful, too. Those guys, it’s insane when you see how they act backstage. They have pictures of themselves posted up everywhere that say “do not ask these guys for their passes, know their faces.” .....So honestly I think thats where it all started.
