As a 5/6 hcp these release patterns are my main focus of practice atm..When you master them you can have so much fun around the greens .. it’s almost addictive.. Top video again mate.
The concept of standing up and not getting too crowded, transformed my chipping, gives you time and the ability to swing smoothly. Clearly worked for you as well
These two videos are a masters class. I considered myself a good short gamer, but as I've gotten a bit older and the hands dont always cure the technique, these rock solid techniques are so awesome to come too. I just wish there was a straight down the line views to see the exact path each time.
I love to see that even someone as good as you Trottie, struggles like us from time to time. Not that I enjoy seeing you struggle, but I appreciate the truth behind how damn hard golf is and that it’s normal for all of us to have challenges.
DD know is stuff big time. This serie is pure🥇! Watch, record, watch again for ever. HOURS of HARD WORK & practice to bring this on the course. Hope part 3 will be on bunker shots. Man your doing good stuff. Love the dynamic between these two!
No this was more personal journey opposed to a reaction to those guys. I watched that through too and thought it was interesting what Scottie said about not worrying about AOA
@@trottiegolf Great stuff. Just shows how personal the short game is, not something that is often thought of, especially for those of us who leant the UK way of, off the back foot. Really high quality content, with something in there for players of all levels.
A lot of similarities with Pete Cowan’s approach. The other element I like in Pete’s instruction in the concept of pressure on the left side, which is really just shifting slightly to really make sure the weight is on the left foot to hit the ball first and rotate.
Interesting to see this… Steve Elkington talks about leaning torso to the left at address ie sternum goes ahead of ball and that fixes low point, it also levels shoulders a bit, Speith does this too. The other aspect of ball back in the stance that no one seems to mention is that it’s not really back in the stance relative to left heel… if the stance is only 4-7” between heels then a mid stance ball position is actually relatively close to left heel… so you MUST have sternum advancing to that point either through rotation or address. No wonder it’s a struggle to hit a low point 2” in front of ball when that low point is effectively then just inside left heel. This might sound odd but it’s a fact.
Fair play Trottie, takes some minerals to put yourself out there like this, would be easy to stand on a LM or bung a pro trace up and stripe drivers down the range like most other pro's on YT
No need at this stage as I'm dialed, but yea always good to hear what great coaches have to say BUT this time of year I just gotta go away and do some work on this and keep things simple
DD know what he's doing. That serie so much GREAT content. Keep for reference. HOURS of HARD work to improve confidence around the green. Hope that part 3 will be on the bunker shots. The flow between you two👌
Go to a beach near where the water comes in and out and hit chips of the sand, for hours, until you are hit ball first consistently. He needs to be more open at address and weight almost all on front leg
Hey trottiegolf, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
Rotate maintaining shaft lean, took me many years to get that! However half the story. An immaculately steady head in backswing coupled with the rotation through is what finally work and stuck. Find that full swing paterns go right through the game - early extend and lean away from target to square the driver? ... better watch for this pattern on a 3 ft putt too.
Have you experimented with 'cross hand' chipping (à la Matt Fitzpatrick)? I wonder whether that might address the shoulder imbalance you referenced. Thanks for sharing these lessons!
I toy around with it when putting and sometimes chipping. Bottom line it wasn't that long ago (last 15 months) when my Clippd data had me at mid 90's shot quality for chipping so I'm not far away. Life happens, you get busy, you don't put in the work, you lose confidence. This is start of the rebuild. I hear ya but that seems a little too far for the course when I know I can chip very well if back in the right direction.
Ball first is my go to, but I really wish I could get the technique in part 1 worked out so the strike does not have to be as perfect. To be fair, work gets in the way an awful lot. 🙄
This is an example of why I don't take golf lessons. Every instructor is trying to make you into something you are not. Trottie is not a "wrist hinger". Why would the instructor then teach him a technique that requires wrist hinge? Ridiculous.
Did you watch the first episode? They spent 10 minutes talking about how Derrick won’t have a one size fits all approach and that he wanted to hear from Trottie what his problems were (from his standpoint) and what he wanted to achieve. Trottie literally went through what his issues are and Derrick developed an approach that should fit him…he even said “for you” like 10 times. Once you finally get the feel for a “correct” shot, that’s the first one of a 1000 practice shots after you find the feel to ingrain it. Derrick even said “for you that isn’t a great fit for you, so here is another approach that is better for you”…
Read his book. Like what he has to say. Derek in Tucson so a lot closer and was who I picked based on tour players and stuff I've seen in social. Just a coach I've wanted to visit for a long time, but yes Dan looks solid too.

Another excellent 2 series video. Nice one !
Trottie, it’s great to see how you bury ego and do these (2) videos. Looks like these troubles are behind you. 👍🏻

This is awesome, what a great way to learn 👏🏻👏🏻
He's excellent. I'm very happy I made the effort to make the trip
This is great per say
Awesome content Trottie 👌
Love it, just as good as the first video. Wondering if the session you did with Scotty and Rors lead to this, just watched that one.

The “don’t mix and match styles” from last video has saved my short game. Stopped trying to use the bounce every lie, just put it back and strike it.
Well done showing all the duff contacts… you could have just shown the good stuff… real golf practice.
30-60y video next?
You gotta try to get Joe Mayo on.

When Quentin Tarantino isn't making movies, he's a short game teacher. Who knew?

Ya absolutely, that makes sense. Just kinda idly came to mind watching the lesson progress - thanks as ever for Thee Onions.
Talk about teaching a man how to fish. 🔥

Who’s Percy ?

Trottie is showing a lot more humility than you can, apparently. Good Coaches are worth their weight in gold.
Enjoy that 24 handicap, dude.
