I had no idea how much I needed this. I got so excited seeing who the host were and they have such good on screen chemistry like wow. Would not mind seeing DJ and Danger more.

WHAT?! Glissa is a first strike deathtouch, it wins any combat situation and is the worlds best blocker. thats fine for just 3 mana. Not every card HAS to combo off with your commander. sometimes its just nice to have a creature no one can attack into
Every year theres always one deck I initially think I'm not gonna be Interested in and it ends up being one of my favorite. This year, it was the Witherbloom deck for me!
Willowdusk initially didn't excite me.much when I saw the life gain. But once I saw the rest.of.the.decks new.cards I.got.uber hyped.about it!

This is such a Ladee deck! It's not optimised per se as a deck, but optimised to fit her deck building and play style. Can't wait to watch the showdown!

I really love how you guys did these precon upgrades. It was cool to give a voice to everyone in the team and it gave every upgrade a more personal feel. Can't wait for extra turns!
Ladee's approach is great, we need more of that kind of energy in the format.
I love Ladee's take on green and black, and her thinking of Glissa, Vraska, Jarad. Flavorful af, love that her build considers flavor a lot.
Great episode, loved the way that the upgrades have been done for this set, I too have been waiting for this one. Picked this precon up at pre release from my lgs have it sitting on the side of my desk have been slowly putting cards into the box. I really liked how Ladee explained her decisions on how she made this deck hers, as always with flair and enthusiasm. Also the time that she has spent going through and responding to people’s comments, that is dedication. DJ great job moderating the series

I really appreciated seeing Ladee's thought process for the deck upgrades! Put in whatever dinky cards you want and have fun with it. It doesn't have to be perfect or optimal. I resonate with that.
New command zone merch idea: A playmat/t-shirt with Glissa vaguely resembling Ladee saying "Cos Glissa!", I'm sure they'll sell well! XD
The amount of satisfaction that they got from saying the word, "MURDER" scares me xD

You know what I really like the fact that danger isn't building the most optional deck nice contrast to Jimmy and Josh

@@BvngeeGvm she’s not making the most optimal upgrades, but she’s taking the spirit of the project and using some clever budget options.
Imagine tivash with a card like erebos's whip or something that grants all creatures you control lifelink. You'd be gaining double the life you gained last turn in the form of a doubling army of flying lifelinking demons!
vito thorn of the dusk rose also great way to do life gain and would allow for draining, so double strike/trample like effect!
Ladee is pretty cool, always great to have her around. Especially for witherbloom colors
this is such a fun video - I really hope that we see Ladee on more episodes like this (with DJ if possible - their interplay was great!). might not be the most optimized deck, but so much fun to see someone be like "well i wanted to put glissa in here cause she's COOL." big fan!

Glad to hear Ladee talk how she enjoys about theme and small value, I feel like a lot of cool cards get glossed over durring set reviews if they arnt really spikey these days. Also seems like they had a blast making this review.

Glissa is a great include. Firststrike deadtouch with a lot of counters on it is great for blocking or attacking. And as bonus getting your artifacts back. Ps lady should be on the show more often. She is so much fun!!

This pairing is epic. The quality of the commentary and banter is off the charts
My favorite part is when Ladee Danger admit that part of the reason she chose the built this route was to differentiate from other decks she plays. This is a major part of commander to me. We all have styles that we enjoy but can built several decks that each do it in slightly different ways. Personally I really enjoy making a lot of game actions even if each action has low impact.
I just wanted to be honest and genuine about it all. I build my decks for me and my play style. It’s not for everyone of course but I think the whole upgrade series has been great in explaining out point of views as players and deck builders which caters to so many people. 💚 so I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I'm adding a lot of these cards to my Reyhan + Ikra Shadiqi deck. I needed more Golgari cards that gave me +1+1 and Ikra gave me a lot of health. These new cards are giving me a nice outlet.
It's so nice knowing how similar Ladee's deck building philosophy is to my own.
Cutting the chef was a GREAT Idea, because if its ONLY benefit to your deck is possibly the indestructible granting, then you have to consider it being 5 mana to make 1 thing indestructible. Its 4 to cast and if your only casting it for the indestructibility, then you have to consider that 4 mana for the effect.
I play baked into a pie in korvold the same reason lady plays murder in it. It works with the deck and feels amazing to say that's a tasty looking pie you have there when you destroy their creature 🤣

This deck is the BEST! Cant wait to see it on Extra Turns. Glissa definitely belongs in the deck. I am building a similar deck with Slimefoot as the commander and I have Glissa in it.
Sproutback Trudge works great with Greater Good. It is even better that I can get it back at the end of my turn to sac it again for nine more cards. (Edit) Also, If Ashnod's Altar was added, sac two pests to reduce the recast to three mana. Phyrexian Altar would be better, but it is very expensive.

I do appreciate how neither of you mentioned the fact that Glissa has first strike and death touch which makes her a ridiculous body on the ground because it's so hard to outmaneuver that. If she puts counters on it with Willow dusk it then becomes a large threat not to mention one of the best blockers of all time

@@LadeeDanger nah, Dina wants to gain a little life a lot of times while willowdusk wants huge swings of lifegain and lifeloss, also those two have completely different subthemes, one has a +1+1 counter theme while the other an aristocrat like theme. Imho those are enough differences
But I'd say you leaned a lot more towards the +1+1 counters strategy so I don't fully get the OP's comment

Pulled a Beledros Witherbloom from a pack so I'm gonna upgrade this deck with her as the commander
I built Willowdusk with a dual tribal. I went with zombie/elf, withthe main life gain being well wisher and luminescent rain. I used the zombies for life loss with shepherd of rot. With Maskwood Nexus, all my zombies become elves and vice versa depending on the situation.
I’m not going to lie, I was shocked that Skullclamp wasn’t in the deck upgrades. It’s a pricy card, but switch out one of the other add ins and it would be great in the deck.

@@LadeeDanger Fair. I can’t even count the number of times lately where I check up a deck I have to see it’s double or tripled in value.
I got Replenish about 4 years ago for less than $10 on Ebay before I knew much about magic at all (and before I knew about EDH). Imagine my surprise checking its price a few weeks ago

Yedora is pretty much gonna be a staple in Morph decks.
I believe morph is an activated ability tied to the the creature being a "morphed permanent". Since they're returning as forests, there's no morph ability to be paid because it doesn't see the permanent under itself. Ie, flicker or bust? I could be wrong (because morph is mechanically dense), but this interpretation has the fewest layers of spaghetti

I'm planning on taking this deck apart and combining it with my Orzhov lifegain commander deck to make an Abzan lifegain commander deck. I am planning to use Nethroi, Apex of Death as the commander.

I put a Wall of Blood and a Tend the Pest in mine, i think it's a really fun combo. Oh and Primal Command is very good too!

27:56 i definitely feel this. I play fumigate and kayas wrath in all my life gain decks despite that fact that orzhov has infinitely better options just because its fun for my board wipe to be thematic
I know y’all like to use y’all’s commander deck template as a reference all the time, and that’s super useful. But, a lot of people play with graveyard themes, and I’m just wondering how that would shift the template since the graveyard wants to work as an extension of the hand. I’m building a graveyard deck rn and having trouble with my ratios of card draw, mill, and recursion, so this was just on my mind.

Gain 7 life, it costs 2, sac it, they take 9 ea (for three), then end step, CAST IT AGAIN FOR 2 (and for extra giggles, sac it again)
That would be 18 to EACH OPPONENT, for as little as ten mana...
I built a few budget decks with counters/lifegain synergies and you guys named a bunch of cards that I had on my lists. Hopefully you don't convince too many people that these are great cards, or I might be out a few when I hit up my LGS lol
If there's any one card I'd shell out for a Willowdusk deck, it's DEFINITELY Unspeakable Symbol. Paying a reasonable amount of life to put counters at instant speed just feels like exactly what you want for Willowdusk. Honorable mention for Doom Whisperer if you can add in some more graveyard recursion and themes.
Love DJ and Ladee together! Such cute fun energy. And I ended up loving Witherbloom too! Gyome (defo French) lol is so gonna be my Strix commander of choice. Also totes team Glissa! First strike death touch.. equip that Loxodon hammer and your laughing.

I'm always a fan of glissa for golgari. Sol rings are destroyed so often plus always nice to have a first strike death touch blocker
I had picked up Witherbloom because my buddy got the Quandrix deck and I wanted to be different, despite missing out on Ruxa. Now I'm seeing many cards I can swap between this and my Merciless Rage deck to play off the effect of Anje Falkenrath's rummaging ability. I'm loving Sanguine Bond, Alhammarret's Archive, Venser's Journal and Noxious Gearhulk.

Ultra pro is a great Protector for your cards, I got in a car crash and my 2 commander decks I had in there were completely fine

Tablet of the Guilds is fine but i immidiately thought about Fountain of Renewal - you dont have to cast anything, and you can throw it away if you really need to dig. Also remember that many of your spells are artifacts. Just to me, its just better.
Loving the Ladies touch on witherbloom, going to play this list tomorrow.
