Definitely my favorite school and precon in the lineup. I've always wanted a GB deck, but they all felt just a little samey to me personally. This has just enough spice. I can't wait to jam a Triskelion and a Spike Feeder in here and make stupid amounts of life and counters. It's also surprisingly solid out of the box from the looks of all the cards.
This is the kind of Decklist I was looking to build. Awesome decklist. Not an excessive amount of tutors, infinite combos and still fun ways to win the game.
Tarnished Citadel is an extension of City of Brass/Mana Confluence. For consistency, Necropotence, Razaketh and Vilis turn life and/or mana into cards..whether it's the precision of Razaketh or the firehose from Necropotence and Villis. The heavy black lean would mean Gary and K'rik, Son of Yawgmoth are all stars. Reanimate and Life/Death can recur these afforementioned creatures and enable Willowdusk by having us lose life. Finally, Inkmoth Nexus is a fantastic place to place the Willowdusk counters
No offense, but if you lean too heavily into the 'life LOSS' theme you are only gonna die yourself :P. This commander needs life to pay life. So i would actually ad more ways to add life instead of losing it.
I thought I wasn't excited for.this deck as.life gain has always been a bore to me. But they really spiced it up and I'm honestly stoked for this now. Just shows you that you can make anything fun by adding green 😉
Agreed, I also find it more interesting that I actively thought I wouldn't like the deck, and there would probably only be a few cards I would use elsewhere. This happens to me almost every commander set there's a deck that I anticipated not liking at all and turned out to be.a.welcome surprise. Sometimes ends up being my favorite from the set. If it wasn't for the Quandrix deck nailing me in the hype spot I'd say the witherbloom deck would be fighting for my favorite.
Someone pointed out that Gyre Sage is better than Accomplished Alchemist. The counters stay turn after turn where you need to continue to gain life each turn to use the Alchemist. So if someone gets rid of your life gain stuff then you just have a tap for one mana for a turn or two till you have lifegain again. Lifeloss also doesn't help this so ita kinda meh to add, if you got it add it otherwise Gyre Sage can be a bit better
An amazing card I added in this deck was phyrexian processor it’s a 4 drop artifact that says as it enters pay any amount of life so yeah you know I put like 30 +1+1 counters on something early to take someone out lol
im surprised to not see Aetherflux Reservoir as an added card rather than something else if you just start with a precon just adding that card could spell trouble for a 4-player game cause someone dies and then you can activate Willowduck for plus 50 on any life linker
What are your thoughts on Font of Agonies (creature removal) and Devoted Druid (goes along with the elf ramp theme and you can use the counters from willowdusk to tap and untap her for a lot of mana)
Really depends on the deck. For example I think Dina would fit more in an aristocrats style deck where you have a lot of small life gain effects like Deathgreeter, Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist and so on while Willowdusk will shine when you easily get big numbers regards lifegain. They both need their specific deck when you want to use them effectively as your Commander but imo they're both capable for this job
I can't understand why you're hesitant about recommending land upgrades and then shortly after you're recommending Necropotence. Either you're not fussed about budget or you are?

Wow, it's a great list. It feels a little bit like a death shadow deck. You got me hyped for a GB deck for the first time since I am playing the game!

If I were going non-budget with this I'd definitely include pain lands like Tarnished Citadel

Nice deck! It looks very improved that way, very nice vid! 🙌🏽👏🏽

On the surface I wasn't excited but the play STYLE this opens up is really interesting

Gyre Sage is in the final list!
This is exactly what I was looking for! thanks so much
Thanks so much - glad I could help!
Really like this deck. I like all the legend CMDs. Would you think about swapping life with players, I think that also counts too, great content
An amazing card I added in this deck was phyrexian processor it’s a 4 drop artifact that says as it enters pay any amount of life so yeah you know I put like 30 +1+1 counters on something early to take someone out lol
Yes, I love it! I play Phyrexian Processor in Trostani and it's an all-star there too
Want to have a good time? Turn the volume off, and turn CC on, and try to follow along. TH-cam butchered the CC on this video.
I'm going to be uploading my scripts as CC moving forward particularly because of this.
Awesome list! How do you feel about Witch of the Moors?
Ahhhh it's great! I completely missed it since it's a Jumpstart-exclusive!
@@CommanderMechanic I’m sure someone has already said it but in case they haven’t I believe Wall or Blood should also be in the deck.
Hell yeah!!! Love this new deck. What do you think of assassin trophy and abrupt decay????
Absolutely - if it weren't a budget upgrade they'd be in 100%
*laughs in 10/10 lifelink death touch army*
im surprised to not see Aetherflux Reservoir as an added card rather than something else if you just start with a precon just adding that card could spell trouble for a 4-player game cause someone dies and then you can activate Willowduck for plus 50 on any life linker
Budget excluded it from the list.
@@CommanderMechanic but you through in toxic deluge and that's costs more
deathless knight and dreadhorde invasion is just so damn good in this deck
What are your thoughts on Font of Agonies (creature removal) and Devoted Druid (goes along with the elf ramp theme and you can use the counters from willowdusk to tap and untap her for a lot of mana)
Font is in the final list!
@@CommanderMechanic lol didn't notice
how do you go infinite with exquisite blood?
Dina, Soul Steeper or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose serve as the other half of the combo.
How do we feel about ad nauseum in this deck
In a non-budget build 100%, just remember for best effect you have to cast it as a sorcery.
i think , dina will be a better commander than willowdusk
Depends in which style you build it. I've seena decktech whwre willow is just better, Dina is still a great 99.
Really depends on the deck. Twilight prophet?
If it weren't a $30 card I'd absolutely have it in - if I put the list together w/o a budget limit I would include it.
I can't understand why you're hesitant about recommending land upgrades and then shortly after you're recommending Necropotence. Either you're not fussed about budget or you are?
Necropotence, like the lands, are recommended as upgrades. Neither end up in the final list.
>"Budget upgrade"
>Necropotence
Yeah... let me just drop 50+ to it. I mean, I get it, it's stupid strong, but it's in no way budget
I mentioned it as an upgrade to the budget recommendation. If you check the list it is not present.
who is running willowdusk in 2024 ?
If i see another willowdusk upgrade video that doesn't include the green mana dorks who produce mana based on their power..im gonna loose it lol
