I am 77,that's the best interview I've ever seen, two guys just sitting having a chat, you could tell the audience was enthralled,I was just watching it on tv tremendous.
Roy is the most modest of men. Fantastic player and the best, most entertaining pundit of all time. I'm not an Irishman, but if I was I'd be bloody proud to have Roy represent what it means to be Irish.
Love the pace of this interview. The gaps and silences allow both to think, and the listener to take it in. A breath of fresh air from the horrid US chat shows of loud constant chatting and fake laughing.
If you think this interview is boring, you must be used to American chat shows, where every single word gets a standing ovation and middle aged women screeching. This is two people chatting.
It’s hard to articulate how much he meant to me as a kid, a United fan in the west of Ireland back then. He was the most admirable person I could think of. Looking back now, there is a tragic element to Keane’s career that makes him even more compelling. He missed the CL final, despite getting his team there. He doesn’t play for Ireland in 02. He is by some distance the most interesting player of his era, and his era had absolute legends everywhere
That's how a perfectionist tics. He probably compairs his crosses with Beckham, his goals with van Nistelrooy, his passing with Scholes and his defending with Jaap Stam.
@sjaakbral83 the best way to judge a player is by how the other elite players judge them. Being humble (comparing themselves to those players) is what made him never stop. David's and Zidane thought Scholes and Keane were ELITE. Rare to see a player these days with keane's attitude.
I know some Ipswich fans that were pleased to see him go. Not often that a top player makes a good manager. No managers get enough time now. Alex Fergusson would probably be sacked now, with the start he had.
I'm from Nottingham (not a Forest fan, nor a Man Utd fan) but I always liked Roy. I especially liked his chats about the area. I smirked my way through the whole interview. So charismatic.
Great interview. They’re both hilarious in their own way. I love that Roy doesn’t give two fucks about who likes or dislikes him or what he thinks and says. Refreshing isn’t it.
I don't know much about football TBH. I know who Roy is and I have seen him on the television. He strikes me as a private, even shy man. He is comfortable in his skin and knows who he is.What a stand up man, Ireland must be so proud.
OMG! Who knew?! As it turns out, Tommy Tiernan is the greatest interviewer the world has ever known! Forget Michael Parkinson, Johnny Carson, etc. Tommy is AMAZING!
That is the Most Guarded interview I have ever seen. I'm from Cork stock and can only say that Roy is still a closed book to the world. We know no more about him now than we did as a football player. All he told us is he played in some strong teams and couldn't care less about what anyone else thinks about him.. And that's ok. If he does not wish to discuss his career or family life, well that's his choice. He made his few bob, won trophies and that's all he wanted to communicate. The mysterious Mr Keane..

I love seeing Roy with Ian Wright, the chemistry is just magic and you can see the twinkle in Roy's eyes. I'd bet he's much more like that behind the scenes when he's comfortable and with people he likes.
Tommy Tiernan interviews one of the best and most famous footballers like hes a normal bloke from the boozer that scored a last minute 20 yarder on a Sunday League and won the Pub Championship and I love it...
He's harsh on himself. Keane was a phenomenal footballer. Excellent control, great passer, good defender, and equally a good attacking player. Arguably the best we have seen in an Ireland shirt. Would absolutely walk into the current united squad.
His world class mentality was on display again. No fat, no bs, his goal was world cup with Ireland and he made it happen. Humble beginnings which he held onto spurred him into training so hard that he surpassed so many others and led by example with an iron will. I hope he knows how rare that is in today's game. He is such a legend and one of the first picks for any United fan if they could bring 1 player back for another career with us. I cant believe how ridiculously spoilt I was watching Fergie's Utd and watching this man, Roy Keane, lead us to greatness during that era. Pure brilliance, it was unforgettable.
Brilliant this from a lifetime Liverpool fan I have to admit how much love listening to Roy and I’m sure big percentage of reds fans think the same but probably won’t admit it..jamie will admit soon I’m sure 👌🏽👍🏽
Especially after The Overlap started. It's very easy to mock Neville and Rio and the rest. But you can't help being respectful with Roy. And the fact that such a straightforward man who's so loyal to United has no hesitation in praising Liverpool legends, tells you all about him.
Tommy has a unique gift of identifying someone’s weakness and asking them to explain their emotions. I saw how he controlled Bill Burr with “cigar” conversation and it was very Machiavelli! Hats off Tommy T !
Great chat.. I would also disagree with Roy saying it was easy to lead because he had so much talent in the room and on the pitch with him… In many ways it is FAR harder to get great players to follow someone else no matter how great that player may be… because great players all have that ego that drives them to be great, so having to follow someone else, even if they too are great players can be a very difficult pill to swallow… An average leader can lead average to poor players.. but only the truly GREAT leaders can lead great players…
I've got used to seeing Roy on the overlap , so you forget his hard hardman reputation , but as he was introduced and he walked in , it was like he was walking into a boxing press conference , that was a top entrance, he looked like he was going to stick one on the host 😂😂 I love Roy Keane , hated him as a player , im not a united fan , but he is a hardman persona , but we now see his personality and that he likes a laugh. Stuff like this and the overlap has really brought him out of himself

His missus lived near me In Top Valley Area of Nottingham , and i am 90% sure she worked at the local Dentist and could you imagine Cloughy today he would be banned for life on every show, national papers etc
Yeah he doesn't pander to anyone, or pretend to be anyone he's not, he's straight up, and he doesn't care if anyone likes him or not. There aren't enough people like that nowadays.
This is the most Irish interview. As an Irishman I appreciate this on all levels ☘️🇮🇪
It's like Parkinson on 16 RPM, Love Roy though.

plenty of those on podcast platforms.
Because most are done in America sadly
That’s how us Irish do
@@ScruffyMuttz My whole family are from Termonfeckin but I've never been. Maybe one day.
It’s even more interesting once you realise that Tommy doesn’t know who is on the show week to week. So no preparation or off limits questions

I love how Tommy was complimentary and respectful without fawning. I think Roy appreciated that. Excellent chat.
What a guy. This is great, keeps it simple. Respects the luck in life he got, acknowledges it took work but doesn't overdo it. Tremendous.
If you think this interview is boring, you must be used to American chat shows, where every single word gets a standing ovation and middle aged women screeching. This is two people chatting.
me as a yugo finds this how it should be from the Irish children of ours :) (of old)
No. From the offset Tommy was being a contrarian to everything he said. Being an interviewer doesn’t mean to battle with the talent.
Who said it was boring though 😂😂😂
Roy is the most chilled out person ever.
No, this is someone asking questions and trying to generate conversation and someone proving very difficult to get anything going at times

Don’t you dare mistake this man’s humility to actually believe he wasn’t that great technically. He was an absolutely tremendous technical player.
If we Croatia in world 1998 world cup had Keane ,we would have won it . Magnificent player and a great man.
