I was skeptical about putiing my male betta named Fin in the turtle tank (I'm sorry), but I did it anyway. I have no idea how but my turtle and Fin are best friends. I observethem all the time. Its a 50g tank. Lots of plants, rocks, a cave. There have been no fights for the past 6 to 7 months. Fin's right cheek is really bulgy(like a tumour) so he doesn't really fight. My turtle only eats pellets or cabbage (no idea why, but she's a vegetarian) and had several fish in the tank with her, the fish dided of old age. Why and how did a betta make friends or tolerate a turtle? Please someone answer me. 🤔🤔😅🐢🐢😕I'm sorry if the fish was abused. But he is perfectly healthy other than his cheek which was there when I got him.

a horror story that I experienced yesterday. I work at a pet store and do a lot of things there, casher, caretaker of the fish and rodents, and helping customers. But mainly I take care of the fish because surprise almost nobody knows anything about fish. Well, back to the story I had to take over the casher because my college had her break. There was a boy ( around 12), his sister (around 8), and his father in my line that bought around 10 goldfish. The boy was shaking with the cart wildly because he thought it was funny to give fish concussion >:( it's not. The father told him to stop it, but he was busy with his bored daughter. After i helped the last customer they were at my casher. I was so angry and wanted to slap that child so bad, but I will not let myself sink to the level of a fish abuser. I said with a polite but warning tone that he shouldn't do that because it's stressful for the fish. His father agreed and told him that he had to stop now. He finally stopped clearly taken aback that I said something, but for he left the store I heard him say "who cares about fish they can't feel anything and are dumb, i want a dog" I hate this kid..........

i didn’t have a flame tetra, but i used to have a firefish goby! i know those are saltwater but in the four years i had him, he seemed to be very happy! he was kept in a 10 gallon tank with two other fish, a shrimp, and a crab! the firefish was named fireblade, like from fruit ninja lol, he was super cool and i was very sad that we had to give him back when we moved :(

Also it's so sad my friend has this baby musk turtle she is treating it great but she is keeping it in an ada and I'm so jealous cause it's beautifully planted and the musk is so adorable I have a red eared slider in an 70 gal storage container with half dead water lettuce. Okay about the zebra mussels in the Moss balls it is only Moss balls from a certain country in a certain area that are possibly infected with zebra mussels other ones have come in clean. It is very possible that this local pet store might have a supplier that is not infected by the zebra mussels. It is very important to find out where their sources from before you put somebody on blast, especially on the internet. The reason why it became a well-known widespread problem was because two major companies Petco and PetSmart we're paying for these to be shipped in from one particular distributor. Part of the reason to go to Mom and Pop and local businesses is they don't always have the same Supply chains as the big box retail stores. A lot of these mom and pop shops and far go out of their way to make sure they have good supply lines. Places like aquarium Co-op sit here and try to Source plants they know are hard to get in the Wild by funding local farmers to make them.

First tank: I had a snail problem in a 29G planted tank with a group of mollies, was suggested clown loaches to take care of the snails. Fell in love. By the end of the year, ended up with a 125G metachrome tank I found at an estate sale for $300 (yah I know). Did all that clumsily, traumatizing water parameters for months (aquariums with dying fish is a repeated theme in bad dreams to this day), so much $$$ in chemicals and products... It turned out to be so joyful and rewarding. All that to say: clown loaches are goddamn adorable.

if anyone was wondering what 'no cap' means: when you speak with all caps LIKE THIS, it looks like you're exaggerating. So speaking something with 'no cap' technically means "i'm not exaggerating". over time "i'm not exaggerating" turns into "i'm not lying" since they mean similar things. so 'no cap' means 'i'm not lying'.

So fun fact! Zebra mussels can live if the temp gets below a certain point. The algae balls, it's not moss. Can with stand near freezing temperatures. Stick them in the freezer and let them get just to the point on of freezing then, take them out and stick them in fridge for a few hours then take out and let adjust to room temp. If you have one that is a bit brownish. Stick in the fridge over night it will perk up. It's a cold water plant and most of the moss balls come from the Ukraine not China not Japan. Zebra mussels originate from the Ukraine. Good luck to those have gotten them in the recent months. I buy them and rip them and glue them to stones, or caves.

But I'm still taking care of my bettas they're all happy and healthy.
My arm does recover within 1 to 2 years I am going buy a new tank and I want to do a fully planted tank.
I think it's going to be pretty awesome.
When I first got into the hobby I didn't know about planted tanks I knew you could add live plants and they just gave me gravel they didn't sort of introduce me to aquarium soil and things like that but I'm going to do that:)
It's going to be my tank too my left arm recovering which is what I used to write with.
I have a joys of being tested

Hey just fyi, the info you gave about the zebra mussels was a bit off. You need to freeze/boil the moss balls and completely redo the tank. Only because the larve stages of the mussels are basically microscopic and will easily be sucked out during water changes.
One thing you could do if your really like you scape and wanna keep the tank is make sure your waste water after waterchanges does not enter a drain or waterway. You could pour it on a grass field or something. Or boil it first before sending it down the drain.

I hope one day they get really big like 8 inches so far 1 female, we named her goldeen is healthy. The other 1 eats to much and the last two have some parasites to clean up.

My daughter just brought home a beta she found half dead at the pet store. She bought the biggest container she could afford for it (which was a small bowl). Much bigger than the sad cup but luckily he only had to stay in the bowl for a day and now he is loving his new 10 gal tank. And surprise! The fish is actually swimming along happily now. Who knew betas didn't like being in those tiny cups (I say sarcastically). The 20 year pet store owner- that's who! I told my daughter not to go back. We don't support businesses who abuse pets.
