My betta started with a .5 gallon (that’s what I had on hand at the time) but within a week I upped him to 2, then 3.5 and then to a 5. Sadly he got ick so I tore down the tank and got a new one and remade the habitat with a betta that I’ve had for a week and he’s already blowing bubbles. I had shrimp in my previous tank but I had them separated and that’s when my previous betta got sick, so I’m moving the shrimp back as they do a fantastic job cleaning

That bird cage for finches is like a 1 gallon betta bowl. All finches are more comfortable in groups and need horizontal space to fly. That could work as a budgie cage as long as you regularly take the budgie out to excercise and interact. If you take finches out of the cage, you will not have finches any more. Parrots and finches have quite different requirements, sort of like tetras and Oscars have different requirements.

    • @futured8060
      @futured8060 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Honestly I wouldn’t even put a budgie in there even if you did consistently take it out, even sleeping cages need room to move around and play

It's not big enough for a budgie. The only reason to have one that small is to take your pet to the vet if you want the bird to have space to move around during the trip.

But, I follow nanoscapes.. so I have a 10g and a 5g. We have some strict rules around here, but we're a pretty zen kind of community. We meet just about every week for a water change.

I am so happy to say that because of you I literally keep all my Bettas in 10 gallon planted tanks with fluval stratum and flourite dark (cause I like the brownish look) as substrate. I have 2 full grown males. 1 cambodian betta, 1 dragon scale Betta. An then I have a baby male Betta I'm actually not quite sure what kind of betta he is right now but he is in a 5 gallon untill he gets a lot bigger and he will be put into a 10 gallon. I had started a 10 gallon cycling for him 3 weeks ago when I ran into a Female Koi Betta missing all her scales on both her left side and right side, stress lines so deep I was trying to keep from having a panic attack. I got scared that an inexperienced buyer or kid would grab her and throw her into a vase so I bought her and she has been doing amazing the last week. Her stress lines are already lighter and you can tell she is getting more comfortable. She looks for me when I come in my room after putting my kids to bed. (Yes I keep all my tanks in my room away from my kids) lol they're my calm! An I bought another 10 gallon and more plants to start cycling again for my little Betta's tranfer time. Thank you for all your information and inspiration! 🙏🏼

As a bug lover, ngl I felt bad for the cockroach that's 100% drowning in that vid, but also the goldfish as well since I know that species and they have sharp spines on their legs. Also one of the bigger species and a 0/5 to catch by hand... Um, all I can say for why I know that from experience, only dubia roaches get sold as food roaches around here and their shells are too hard for toad food. Yeah... That roach was not kept as food since it'd be a choking hazard
Ngl I'm just here because YT keeps suggesting your vids and I think I'll finally cave and hit the subscribe button since this chirs guy has some pretty good humor and the good tanks are quite a welcome sight. 5/5 keep it up ^^'

I am now a first-time betta owner! He might have been a little bit of an impulse-buy but I have also been thinking about it for a while so I wasn't completely unprepared. And now, seeing people put bettas in these small jars upsets me even more after seeing how much my boy loves to swim around his tank and interact with everything.
He doesn't have a name yet but he's a red dragon plakat. He is also in a 125L (27 gal?) planted tank with my peppered corys. He's being treated like a king right now! I also love the way he sleeps at the top in his bed of floating elodea! I usually keep goldfish so all this betta behaviour is new to me

Idk though because I've only ever gotten a couple in a blackworm culture and they lasted longer then the worms ^^' though, still didn't end up surviving. I admit I'm strange for keeping them but hey, I also do have a couple things set up for inverts only if I wanted to move them ^^'

If someone has a cockroach infestation, those little suckers can go everywhere, including into fish tanks, so it might not have been set up by the owner, but they should probably call pest control.
Personally, I was terrified by anything roach-shaped until I got my beardie; now I handle dubia roaches on a daily basis to feed my boy.

I recommend (for changing substrate) taking out all of your water and fish before taking out anything else and putting it aside and then taking out decor and plants, then once everything is out you take out substrate and replace it witth your new substrate (pre rinsed) and then put your water back in from before and the plants and decor. Run your filter for a while and test your water. Once it’s safe for fish you can add your fish back

No finches in that cage! If anything, finches need a larger cage relative to their size, because, unlike a hand-tamed budgie or parrot that can come out and hang with you, they'll spend their entire lives in there. Also, they shouldn't be kept alone, and because of that, more room is needed. They're a little like schooling fish that way. :) The only legitimate use for that tiny cage would be as a travel cage if you needed to take a small bird to the vet or move it for some other reason.

That roach woke up that day not knowing he was going to ride a goldfish. By the end of the day he was fulfilled.
Btw I’ve had a roach get into my tank along with a stick bug. They both sat on a floating log until they died. They didn’t go after my fish and didn’t try to escape. I found the roach dead because I assume it fell into the water and started getting pecked at by my fish. My fish are fine, and I am as well. Roaches carrying disease is more common in cities and under developed high population areas of the world. For a roach to have diseases In a rural area where it’s only ever ran around in fields and most likely the siding of my house it’s entire life. I doubt it had a disease. So yes, I had a pet cockroach and stink bug for about 2 weeks. It was cute they would get into little fights and also cuddle. Their names were Wilson and Johnny cast away.

I ate cockroaches but the flying ones are the worst kind of cockroaches.
One time , I broke a plate because of one those. The plate had many condiments bottle ketchup bottle, hot sauce, and others.... that flying thing jumped on my arm... I was screaming ...all the sauces went flying everywhere on the white tiles and door... I cut my finger but felt nothing that was how much I was screaming.
    I was at my sister's place ...
    As to answer the QOTW
    I'm sadly allergic to tomatoes,
    so It's either
Chicken Madras ( base cream , chicken, curry, ananas),
Regina Premium ( base cream, arugula, parmesan cheese, mozzarella di buffala, ham, pepperoni, fresh mushrooms),
Quattro Stagioni premium ( base cream, arugula, parmesan cheese, mozzarella di buffala, ham, pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, black olives and artichoke)
Capra Miele ( simple goat cheese and honey)
the last two normally have tomatoes, but if asked, they kindly do them without it.

If anyone who knows about bearded dragons sees this despite this being a year old I'd like to understand:
As a kid we had a bearded dragon and fed him crickets, veggies, and those pellets after being slightly soaked in water. We're the pellets bad for him? If I were to ever have another I'd do research specifically, but I'd like to have the knowledge tucked in my head. Was it a problem with that specific brand like meow mix the brand is the problem? Or was it pellets in general?

Bruh. Have I got a story or 2 about cockys 😬when I was ‘away’ there was roaches all over the place. They were that big and brash they had their own keys to the doors 😅
So one day I’ve finished eating my dinner, everyone who ‘lived’ there used to use the toilets as ‘food waste disposal’, so I was tipping the rest of my plate of chips down the toilet, flushed…all gone, until I see a single chip spinning & floating back up to the surface…..A cockroach clinging on like a Navy Seal! 😂🤦🏽‍♂️
We caught one once under a big protein tub, left it on the floor under the tub while we were chilling in the ‘pad’ having a doob. Next minute the tub is doing 110 across the room 🤣 crazy.

*Probably shouldn't have a pet Pack*
No. No finch would be healthy in that small *maybe* travel sized cage long term.
Finches are very active birds that thrive in open settings they can flit about safely stretching their wings.
At least two feet wide all around - and four feet tall at minimum keeping for to finches.
These are super social birds and it is always advised to keep more than two, and not in odd numbers.
    //sincerely,
    Keeper of Exotics
